The Barbarella girl attached was sitting with me and her girl friend who works Balcony. She wanted R350 and says she gets that at Barbarella. At day break we all caught a cab, dropper her off at her apartment on Ns the Copa, and me and a Pussycat went to my apartent for R150 completa and her taxi home.
Thank you very much!
Lots of girls can enter Barbarellas to pick up the slack and try and sell themselves but are they really the quality that people go to Barbarellas for? I doubt it because if they were they would get what they're asking for at Barbarellas early in the evening and not have to end up at Balcony with the rats and cockroaches of copa trying to pass themselves off as a Barbarella girl because if they really were that quality they wouldn't end up at Balcony.
While the girl in your picture is very nice, she may not be the cream of the crop that can demand 500 reais and get scooped up early in the evening. There are Barbarella girls and then there are Barbarella girls. Go in there at 2:30 in the morning, you'll see lots of leftovers, these are the ones going to Balcony.
there are barbarella girls and then there are barbarella girls.
i've been to barbarella numerous times and at all times. i just do not think they are all that for the money they want, just like i had told helpee girls to kiss off with their over-rated bundas!
Speaking about safety, I have been in Rio for a few days, and hoping to do some hobbying at L'Uomo when my meetings are over. But, when walking along the promenade at Ipenama Beach after dinner, my Brazilian hosts got very worried about a couple of guys that they felt were targeting us and made us get on a bus just to avoid being robbed. This was under the lights on a very busy street with lots of people around.
Given that I only speak English and stick out like a sore thumb as a tourist, is going to L'Uomo, even by taxi, safe? Should I go to Monte Carlo instead, since maybe it is easier to locate without walking around Copacabana at night? What's a reasonable time to go to the termas safely?
I'd hate to miss the termas experience since I have hobbied all over the world, but now I'm thinking twice about going.
Thanks, R.
Taxis are safe.
If you are paranoid, get yourself a special taxi driver by recommendation, or from a reputable taxi company. And call him whenever you need a taxi. But that is being over-careful. Taxis are safer then private cars as gangsters don't want to mess with the taxi mafia and want taxis to transport customers to their favela.
There is a metro stop next to L'Uomo.
I would avoid walking around L'Uomo at night. If you are super careful, take a taxi to go there even daytime, but again, not especially dangerous during day time.
If you have a special taxi friend, he will be happy to get a commission for bringing you. Or pm me and I tell you how to get them to get the commission to me instead ;-)
I would not even walk around Monte Carlo when it gets late at night, especially if you are not street wise and look like an obvious gringo victim.
A few years ago I posted a report "Rio safety for the paranoid", maybe I should rework it.
I do rent suites in my own apartment to single travellers. Usually I give valuable guidance and security help if you are at my place (pm me for details, best you already include your email address).

Rio is getting expensive. If you stay longer, month or so, you can find cheaper offers. Or in cheap, near downtown, dive hotels.
I rent suites in my apartment for US$ 70 per day which is about what you quote. If you are really tight I might give a discount. But if you are at my place, my advice usually save lots of money elsewhere, mainly with girls. I presume this is not considered spam as I reply directly to the topic.
But yes, I live in Rio and almost feel like going on sex tourism to Asia. Things are pretty expensive here.
This is due to exchange rate, and due to leftist Lula surreptively jacking up minimum wages by, I think, 8% per year over the last 8 years. Good for the poor (who still don't quite deserve it because most are totally uneducated and incompetent), but bad for visitors who want cheap services.
But the girls here still are the hottest in the world ;-)
But the girls here still are the hottest in the world ;-)
which is just one of the reasons that gets me back to Brasil over any number of Asian countries ;). And, if you know how to work the system, you can still get quality at a good price (not to mention an apartment at less than half of your rate. ;) ;) ;) )
She wanted R350 and says she gets that at Barbarella.
When we all walked over to the Pussycat. I asked her again and she stayed at R350. At day break we all caught a cab, dropper her off at her apartment on Ns the Copa, and me and a Pussycat went to my apartent for R150 completa and her taxi home.

And this is my point, a Barbarella girl at Balcony will still want Barbarella prices, she went home alone and would not drop the price. There is a lot of bullshit about girls from Barbarellas working here there and everywhere for R$50 but show me the evidence and I will believe you. And as Sangue pointed out there are Barbarella girls and there are girls who have stuck their ass in Barbarellas for less time than me. I would never claim to be a Barbarellas client but I have been there more often than half the women in Balcony or Help that have claimed to be working there.
I used to go out with a girl who worked in Barbarellas, she charged $R200 or US$100 an hour, not all night, not 2 hours, but per hour, her friends charged $600 for 2 hours. That was from 2004 to 2007. We used to go to Balcony during the day for a choppe, so not all Barbarella girls in Balcony are working, they may be there with friends or clients.
Can someone post a picture of a Barbarellas girl that they have had for R$50 or R$100 working in VM or a downtown Termas? I have posted before on the cheapness and availability of expensive Barbarellas/Franks(now the Mermaid) girls in Noruiega/Ciccohoweveryoufuckingspellit at knock down prices at 3 or 4am, its not news it's just left overs.
Can some of the regular posters give an update on when Franks became the mermaid? Any reviews on the new bar on the scene, or is no one actually in Rio at the moment?

thanks for the enlightenment. i fly into rio 24 march for 12 days, my 2nd trip since helpee closed. i would like to know more about this barbarella gdp scene. monica, another barbarella princess, who cried at my table last trip in balcony because she is reduced to the horrors of balcony than helpee, is who i want to get at balcony prices. there are some good deals to be made.
I recently went to Rio. Went to Barbarella, Balcony, and Solarium. A couple of pictures are in the photo gallery section.
Barbarella: I don't think this is a terrible option. You'll end up paying about US200 TLN for top shelf girls. As long as you get a good girl, not bad.
Balcony: I didn't like Balcony the first night I went because it was hot. The bathrooms are not stellar, but they are not as bad as some have made them out to be. I have been in worse. There are a LOT of girls, and they are very hungry here. The key is pouncing on the ones you want when you want them. I had a couple of cousins I was going to leave with R400 for both TLN, but I let them get away. You can definitely find ST 100-150 and LT 200-250 here easily. This is a great place...very busy.
Solarium: This was my first time at Solarium. I actually went to 4x4, but it was Saturday and they were closed. Solarium is more expensive...it ended up being something like R330 for 40 minutes. There were fewer girls, and the quality was lower than 4x4. On the good side, the girl I took (Josie? Joyce?) did a monster deepthroat...definite PSE. There was slobber everywhere. How enjoyable.
Craigslist girl: My final night in Rio, I met a girl from Craigslist. We pre-negotiated R400 for TLN. She actually just arrived back in Brazil. She had worked in London, where she says she made a LOT more money. (She is this girl: http://www.londonukescorts.co.uk/escort/4685). This must be true, as we met for dinner, and she rolled up in her own Mercedes. She spoke lovely English (British accent) and she was very sweet.
Something interesting I learned from her: £120 seems to be the going rate for lower- and medium-end London escorts. Of this, £20 goes to the driver, £50 goes to the agency, and £50 goes to the girl. That's less than I thought.
Here are a couple of tips I can offer about Rio...
TAXI
I use the following company for airport pickup and dropoff:
CARLOS ALBERTO
Tel 55 21 7605-5889
www.rio-taxi-brazil.com
I have used them three times, and they have been at the airport waiting for me with a sign every time. They charge R55 for airport pickup and dropoff, and I think they can supply an English speaking driver if you need one.
Flights back home usually leave late at night, so I generally hire this company to provide a "city tour" that ends at the airport. The city tour is a minimum of 5 hours at R25 per hour. I usually go see some sights and then head to the termas before going to the airport. This works out well because, having used them before, I know I can trust them to keep my bags when I'm sightseeing/termasing.
CONTACT IN RIO
The best part about my recent trip was that I found a reliable contact in Rio. He is an American living in Rio for 8 years, and he is about 40 years old. I always like to have a contact in the places I go just in case I ever need anything. I paid him R100 a day to negotiate with girls/call girls/hang out. As I don't speak Portuguese, this was definitely worth it. At Balcony, I was basically like, "Okay, I want those girls," and he would go negotiate the price. I didn't even have to get up. If you need his contact info, let me know.

That is a reasonable price for airport pickup given the personal level of service. Same for the city tour. Sounds like you found a winner.
thanks to everyone who replied to my paranoid gringo safety thoughts, especially exec talent and brazil specialist. to bs, repeating your safety report would be very useful to rio newbies like me.
i did go to luomo and had no trouble, following the excellent directions given here and in the rio guide. the experience was good, but not fantastic. there were about 15 girls to about 5 guys, but there were only 2-3 guys in the lounge at any given time, so not too crowded. i would rate the girls there from 5 to 8 on a 1-10 scale in terms of looks and body, with most about 6 or 7 (on my scale, 6 means i could do them).
my taste runs to more petite, so the best-looking one was [CodeWord901], a bleached petite pretty pale blonde with nice tits and friendly enough. not much english but that's okay by me, and unlike previous reports, she did dfk. her bbbj was only average though, but we had a good time, and she stayed for the whole time cuddling after the main fireworks were over. i then opted for dark chocolate and sampled mel (or something like that), a petite dark-skinned girl who seemed to love dancing. while she was sensuous in the lounge, with great dfk, she was less interested in the room and also gave only a so-so bbbj. total cost was 540 reals for the 2 girls and 3 drinks.
again, it was fun and the girls were friendly (even to a foreigner like me), but the atmosphere and quality of the girls was nothing like a german fkk, which for me is still the best mongering experience. also, i saw prettier and tighter brazilian girls (9's on my scale) at lady marmalade parties in london, so the quality was a little disappointing (recognizing, of course, that this was only 1 night at 1 termas).
thanks again to everyone, and happy hobbying!

Smokers Rule,
Why not just take the shuttle rio for R$12 to R$18?
Because I like taxis and I don't like shuttles?
It seems that whenever anyone puts a price to something they post on here, someone else immediately criticizes them for paying too much. I am not interested in justifying or explaining what I pay for things.

They just can't allow others to experience Brazil the way you want to. And they will haggle over R10. Well maybe some people can afford the extra reais. Like they have to "one-up" someone. Now I could see if you asked them a question, which you didn't. No I wouldn't do the taxi tour thing, but if you like it, who are we to judge. But there may be a time when we may want to do it your way. It's great to know your point of view, because it may come in handy.
Thanks Smokers Rule for your post!
