Don't give fake ID as the staff can detect and call police that you are trying to impersonate someone else. It's a criminal offence.
The guy at reception won't trouble you if you and girl provide proper ID proof.
You can opt any hotel or lodge as per your choice.
No raid happens in hotels which operate legally. LE can't do anything because you are lawfully allowed to book a room in India.
Soft copy is fine. But it may mean you are providing a valid email ID or mobile number too. Sometimes I try to skip the valid mobile number or make it not easily comprehensible. NEVER used a fake copy. Each to his own. But I do not recommend it. Its not tough to get original identity's in India. Its collected for every small task. reception generally does not create any issues, they know as soon as they see its double person booking.
