Only places for you will be Levels, Climaxx and Narz and other usual late night spots, but all of them closes max. At 2 am. I haven't found a place yet which opens longer as 2 am.

I was on my way tonight to Asoke Place short time hotel to meet a tasty WeChat student-in-need when she messaged back that she could not go out. So I decided to check out Soi Cowboy. Almost all bars in operation, with girls dancing in bikinis with very toned-down music. Not a single Arab bar coyote in sight, with what looked like normal staff trying to call customers inside. From what I could see, there were some ladies drinking with customers, but no dancing, music or any naughtiness of any kind. Off to Asoke Place where they assigned me my usual room and the white was gotten out a short time later. Bargain considering no barfine or drinks, just ST fee. She mentioned that CH operations will resume on 1 Nov, so let's see if the CH spirits rise again on All Saints Day. If they do reopen, it will be a much tamer scene as I doubt they would want to risk further sanctions.
Afterwards decided to stroll up Sukhimvit. Of course no cart bars in operation. Quite a few Africans hanging out, including one particularly nubile specimen hanging out at the cross bridge in front of Westin. Usual SW gang in front of McDo. Walked up to Thermae for a look-see. Instead of doing my usual quick round, I stopped and took a really careful look at the girls. Quite depressing selection of talent, but maybe my satiated state was an influence. My final thought was "I can live without" and observed that some of the ladyboys out front were a sight better than what was inside. Thought to check out more of Sukhimvit, but decided to call it a night.
I heard today that the government has gathered reps from all the television stations that "normal" broadcasting can resume from 14 Nov after the 1 month mourning period. Advertising will resume, but shows will be strictly general audience material. So I expect the "slow slow" situation to continue well to the end of the year given the mood of the government and people. Closure till 1 Nov is probably due to girls who are not Thai citizens. Suzie Wong previously had a similar closure.
About half way through a one month visit, though five of those days were spent as a refugee in Angeles. I may soon have to stop traveling:

Based on ParkVille's posts I've taken to frequenting Sharks. As mentioned, same revealing outfits as ever, music, and a fair selection of cuties. And a horrific selection of tattoos. One girl has an amazing figure from behind, long legs, awesomely defined ass, all topped with a back with one side completely painted and a good (not!) start on the other. For obvious reasons I haven't looked closely, but it looks more like patterns than any photo-realistic artwork, so I could see it like a Rorschach Test, with me pounding away doggie style and suddenly blurting out, "It's a schnauzer driving a Zamboni, right?
As also previously mentioned, there is a bit of an air of desperation along the soi. Just walking down Cowboy was different (besides the darkness). Normally I get through with no one targeting me: Stare straight ahead and walk fast. Now I find myself getting cut off by coyotes (or whatever the hell those girls are) every few bars. Maybe it is just that there are fewer other targets so I am more exposed, but the ultimate was on the first Shark visit a girl outside said "Hi!" as I headed in. I smiled back and went to find a seat. Soon I saw her enter and roam around a bit. Turned out she was looking for me. Maybe that is normal, it just has never happened to me before. I sort of thought that the outside was coyote hunting grounds, the inside was regular BG hunting grounds. She plopped down beside me and, against my better judgement (she was maybe average looking), I bought a LD. Immediately the pestering for BF started, and it just didn't end. Having quickly determined that a repeat visit was definitely worthwhile, a repeat visit that didn't involve that little bloodsucker, I downed my drink and waved the check bin. I gave her my customary, and probably overly generous, "Thanks for blessing me with your presence" tip. She demanded more, I laughed it off, but she persisted all the way to the door. Holy crap! I believe her name is Som, sort of a skinny thing with bad teeth.
Fast forward two nights and I was back. I bought a comely young lass a beverage and just as I was getting ready to leave, trying to catch the eye of the waitress, my old friend spotted me. She ran up, sat down beside previously mentioned lass, and demanded a drink. To aggravate matters, the waitress brought back the change in the form of a 500 baht bill and a few coins. Yes, the lass was comely, but not 500 bath comely, so I asked the waitress for smaller bills. So now Miss Bloodsucker knew what money was involved and definitely thought that she should get a tip for sitting down for four minutes, three and a half of which involved her asking in different ways for a drink. She was stunned that the gratuity was not forthcoming. This is behavior I associate with Patpong, not Cowboy!
I see there is a billboard for the Galaxy Note7 at the Phrom Phong BTS. Apparently Thais like their phones like they like their food: Hot.
I definitely come down on the "Good thing" side of the street stall removal debate. People walking here (including a lot of falangs) seemed to be in peril of being rear-ended by glaciers, and that was BEFORE mobile phones caught on. I tend to move at my Soi Cowboy speed. More passing lanes are good. And, on a final note on that matter, hey, tall, grey haired falang at the Asoke BTS! Did you REALLY think it was a good idea to stop dead center at the top of the escalator to reply to a text?
Yeah last time I was at Shark, one of the bar girls tried to sit down next to me while I was with the girl I normally bar fine. She just calmly but surely walked up to our bench, and slid down and started to talk a bit. Proceeded to give the lost puppy eyes so I knew the LD request was coming. I declined. She politely left as we both understood the score: She is at least trying to make some money tonight, and I am not going to be a source of it. She was also rater unattractive too. There may have also been an outside girl who tried to follow me in as well and I immediately told her no (as polite as possible, but still firm). It's important to shut that down quickly.
At any bar here, you have to be upfront with the women very quickly. Tell them no soon, in words or better in body language, so they don't linger around. And much less loss of face (if there really is any) when you do this upfront, instead of hanging around and bailing later. If they sense an opportunity, they will keep trying. Imagine going on a fishing trip where there are very few fish at all in the entire day. But you see a fin flip, so you make the best of it and sail over there, and cast your lure out for 2-3 hours hoping for a bite. That's what these girls will do the moment you hesitate; they know you are thinking about giving in (a tip, a barfine, lady drinks) and will keep fishing for it.
Now don't be too cheap all the time, in just any bar. Some bars are actually dangerous and they beat up the clients who don't pay their scams, like some of the ones in Pattaya I see in the news. Although it's usually tourist who don't know the score and not mongers that get beaten up. I don't think any monger would just get beaten up that easily for being cheap. I think at Soi Cowboy's typical bars you should be totally fine, it's a very public, bright and tourist policed area.
The only thing I hate about go-go's are how pushy the girls can get.
I wish I didn't feel like a dick for having to tell them no rudely, but they won't accept anything else.
If I smile and politely say no, they get more aggressive, which almost makes me want to leave.

I think girls who order a tequila (or any shot) should understand that if she orders a tequila then she must wait until such time as you are finished your drink and you are ready to order another one. This girl seemed to pass that test.

Went to Soi Cowboy yesterday. Looked into a couple of gogo's everyone covered up, few girls outside, but still plenty of pretty girls in the bars. Stayed at Suzie Wongs until 11.30, three beers and a lady drink. None of their famous shows, all the girls in bikinis. Did meet a nice girl with huge boobs, but too tired from jet lag to do anything. Will try Nana tonite.
Shark was a favorite of mine for a while and had many repeat girlfriends from there over the years. Selection was always solid if not tops, but service was always consistent and no BS in the bar. I don't know why the place doesn't attract much attention. Avoid those outside girls but inside no coyotes, no LB, drinks are strong and girls are solid.
