The answer is that it is illegal in the Phils but relatively common. Unfortunately because it is illegal there is huge scope for selling fake pills etc. At 3 wks it is fortunately much less risk than later on in the pregnancy. Some of the girls that I know have taken the pills and they say the legit ones cost 5000P but that may have been later in the pregnancy. Because you are a Reg member I dont think people can PM you.

Sometimes girls will throw the I'm pregnant line as a ruse but assuming that hes confident shes pregnant and that its his, it is really bad news. I think many guys (myself included) would not be happy with either marrying the girl, nor supporting her financially for 20 years nor having a child of mine brought up in grinding poverty, so its a lose lose lose situation unless he can ensure she does get it aborted.

Abortion is easily available in the clinics. Tell your friend to take her to a clinic and get the abortion. It is fast and easy. Although according to the catholic religion it is illegal, it is not illegal as far as the government is concerned.
It is not a good idea to feed her untested local witch medicine. cost of Abortion vary in different places. In Zamboanga my ex GF got it done by paying approx 8000 pesos with all medications. For what it is worth she sent me papers from the clinic. Proof that she is pregnant and the procedure and total cost. I even called them to ascertain that this girl is indeed their patient and assured me everything would be fine.

Before replying to them, I re-read my Money Rules post, particularly Rule number 1, and decided that a revision was in order. Rule number 1 has therefore duly be changed to, 'I never lend or give money to a gal after just one date.' I then replied to each of them, with all due sympathy, that I could not help them at this time as I don't know them well-enough.

Let's clarify this. Abortion IS illegal in the Phils.

What is behind this is obviously the MORAL (or maybe we should say immoral) teachings of the Catholic Church but the church doesn't make things legal or illegal, the Government and the judicial system does. Moreover it is illegal (and in theory an imprisonable offence) for anyone to even assist in abortions.

That said IN PRACTICE it is estimated that around 400,000 illegal abortions do take place in the Phils and I'm not sure if many or indeed anyone does get sent to prison for this. My understanding is that there are indeed unofficial clinics which can carry out mechanical abortions reasonably safely for those with money. I'm not sure how these clinics get around the legality question.

Again IN PRACTICE the majority of poor girls get illegal and rather dangerous abortions in the form of bottles of vodka or "heavy massage" or home brew medicine all of which are not at all safe and result in many hospitalisations through the complications.

For early stage pregnancies the best procedure is probably to take Cytotic pills - my understanding is that the girl needs to take 4 pills orally and 2 vaginally, but you may need to check this. These pills are not so easy to get hold of because of the legality issue and because they are relatively expensive and because this is the Philippines there are plenty of scammers trying to sell fake Cytotic. The consequences of all this can be horrendous. A gf of mine has a brain damaged/wheel chair bound younger brother as a consequence of her mum trying to use (probably fake) tablets for a late (5 months) abortion.

As I say - if the guy is sure, and it is his child, and in the very unlikely scenario that the woman consents to the abortion - it would be safer to get Gynae help - talking about which, one of the gynae I worked with before said it is allowed by law.

But if the girl is worried, and the guy is really concerned, she can always fly out to Singapore and get it done legally, upto 10 weeks into pregnancy .. (it is just a day operation, and a couple of days of bed rest .. and costs about 600 S$)

I would strongly not suggest underground pills/vodka/beer+paracetamol - as most filipinas recommend as induced abortion- the chance of messing things up is more ...

PS: Never trust a girl's word for being 3 weeks into pregnancy - she maybe more into her pregnancy, but hiding it to make the 'dates' match ... my 2 cents .. seek proper medical care to appraise if she is 3 weeks or 3 months into pregnancy ..

The other alternative is a HK trip ( not sure if Manila Sing any easier than Manila HK ) but lots more daily flights HK and probably more pricing alternatives both for flights and for medical treatment in HK.

Its a very short procedure that lasts usually no more than 3 hours from entering the building, and if given the medical ok can fly back the next day.
