Was in BKK this weekend and what I noticed since my last visit 4 months ago is that the bar fines are getting out of hand.

In Nana some places now charge 700 baht but we where quoted 1,100 bar fine at Rainbow the one with one stage 3rd floor. WTF and 3,000 baht short time 5,000 LT. If you are going to pay those kind of prices I recommend the lords the best soap land in BKK in my opinion. Didn't go to Soi but has their bar fines gone up as well?

I can't find anything on it. The closest I could find were a few studies that within their texts sometimes lump Female Sex Workers (FMW) with "and their clients", but show zero stats on how many of their clients supposedly acquired HIV from having sex with them. The texts then go on to discuss how the FSW likely acquired HIV and it is almost exclusively the result of having sex with People Who Inject Drugs (PWID), as in people (men) who acquired HIV by sharing needles, most typically their husbands or boyfriends. Maybe that is also how some of "their clients" acquired HIV and not from having vaginal or oral sex with them. The studies simply do not break it down into those specifics even though they most certainly could do so.

Otherwise, there isn't even an acronym in any of the HIV incidence studies or write-ups for someone like me or, I imagine, most of the guys on this site discussing P4 P mongering; heterosexual men who only have sex with women and do not share needles.

Even the USA CDC studies through 2014 could not find enough heterosexual white men who have acquired HIV via sex (presumably with women, since they're talking about heterosexuals) to include that category in their New HIV Diagnoses charts. Not sure why such studies would find anything different among white heterosexual men who travel to Thailand or anywhere else in SEA. In fact, I am sure heterosexual men who routinely travel to SEA were among the USA studies that did not show enough of them having acquired HIV via sex with females to even cite them in the charts:

These men are people known to have had heterosexual sex with women that either have HIV or are in a high risk category (such as drug users). They never shared needles or had other such risky behavior as that would have put them in a different category. People diagnosed with HIV but who had only contact with women (including prostitutes) whose HIV status is unknown are lumped in an 'unknown' (aka 'No Identified Risk') category and then statistically redistributed over all other categories. (see p. 16 of the report: "Persons whose transmission category is classified as heterosexual contact are persons who have ever had heterosexual contact with a person known to have, or to be at high risk for, HIV infection (e. G. , an injection drug user). " and "Because a substantial proportion of cases of HIV infection are reported to CDC without an identified risk factor, multiple imputation is used to assign a transmission category"). This is entirely logical: it is impossible to acquire HIV unless from someone who has HIV, so a category 'transmitted through heterosexual contact from someone without HIV" cannot exist in this kind of statistics and all 'No Identified Risk' cases are added to the other 'Identified' cases.

So, saying 'Even the USA studies through 2014 could not find enough heterosexual white men who have acquired HIV via sex' is wrong: 24% of the new cases have actually heterosxual sex as their main mode of transmission. But these studies never tried or aimed to calculate or estimate the risk of getting HIV through heterosexual intercourse [B]in general[/B]. Quoting these studies as "proof" that there is no risk to get HIV from prostitutes is wrong.

If there were some 2,000 heterosexual white men whose likely mode of contracting HIV was through heterosexual sex, there would be an entry for it on that chart. But there isn't one. There is an entry for heterosexual white women as low as 1,115. So even if there were as few as 1,115 heterosexual white men who likely contracted HIV from sex, it would have been logical to include an entry for it on that chart. But there isn't one.

And I didn't post that link as "proof" that there is no risk of getting HIV from prostitutes. I posted it to show there is not even a category for someone like me with enough cases of contraction to include it on their charts. You can produce a chart showing that someone got hit by a falling meteorite. So there is definitely a risk of it happening. But I wouldn't start wearing full body armor while sitting in the living room to watch tv every night because that happened somewhere to someone.

But far be it from me to try to convince anyone else from not wearing full body armor anywhere and everywhere at all times just in case. Please do so. But don't try to convince me I am being evil, foolish or perhaps have "psychiatric" problems (not you, but others) for not doing so.
