Jammed Up?... Not Fun Nowhere But Especially In A Third World Country
Sorry to hear about the incident that happened to you. Many people can indeed make snide remarks about your experience but the fact is: You have to have been there to understand!
Not worth the trouble.
I was jammed up the other night by the boys in blue as I reported as I just walked down the street... I feel your pain. I was worried about them taking my $9,000 necklace. I mean if they had decided to take it from me what could I do? Yeah physically I can over-power them but they have guns.
How to Keep the Thai cops in check
Yesterday, I took a bus from Pattaya to Bangkok's Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekkamai). I was accompanied by a young woman in her 30's, I am 62.
As we were walking away from the bus, I was approached by a uniformed police officer who asked where I was going. I replied; he then began asking me many more questions: how long in Thailand, how many times here, who is the girl, how old is she, ect., ect.
I am an American who lives in Malaysia but have been coming to Thailand for a long time. (10+ years). I have a good friend who is a lawyer. I keep one of his Business cards in my passport on my information page and one card in my wallet next to my money.
The cops are looking for tourists and foreigners they think they can push around. So when ever i get stoped by the cops they see the card smile and tell to move on. so for you guys living in Thailand try doing the same. For the tourists try going into a lawyers office and getting a couple of cards from him.
(BTW I have been a lurker here in the BKK post for awhile, will post as soon as I get a chance to make it up there)

Ekkamai Extortion: addenda.
Thanks all for the kind words of support. I have posted this experience on several forums, one focusing on Bangkok and one Pattaya.
One responder quoted from the official Thai "CONTROLLED DRUGS CLASSIFICATION THAILAND" VIAGRA and it's clones are classified as a CLASS 4 narcotic, the possession of which carries far more serious penalties and fines than CLASS 5 narcotics which include ganja.
Imagine that: Viagra a more serious offense than pot: go figure.
More and more, it looks like I took the best option.
Bangkok Was Given A Chinese Name By Warbucks....One-gone
amen!!
i thought it is a national holiday week, or maybe my expectations are to high. i have noticed that tourists are few and far between.
the weird thing is though i would figure that there would be many more stunners as the unattractive ones could not get business, but i am wrong it seems that the unattractive ones have multiplied instead.
dwarbucks, i have my eyes peeled looking out for you. if i see some bling on a brotha i will say hi!!
