Went to Longshan and got 20 min with an thin old lady,

Went to my favorite barbershop for 40 min with a fat old lady (with titanic knockers and an ass that had trouble getting through the door) ,

Before I ask my question, let me share my past three experiences from August 2011. This was my first and only visit to Taiwan.

A buddy of mine told me of the great massages he got from a massage parlor on Linsin Road. In Taipei. He gave me the address of the parlor and suggested I pay them a visit if I ever had the chance to go to Taipei – so I did.

When I first walked in, it was just as my friend said. Spinning barber shop pole on the outside and several empty chairs in what looked like a beauty salon. Now, I regular guy would back out but I thought, this should be interesting bordering on strange. Same routine, hot towel back massage, flip and as she heads south she doesn't stop at the belt line. And I'll be damned but if this grandma doesn't give the best ball rub of all time. She had some serious technique that I have actually incorporated into my own masterbatory habits. In the meantime, I'm keeping an eye on the clock and see that time is running out. I give the universal sign for HJ and she says 'no'. Now how can someone so skillful at the ball rub not follow through? Well, its because she wants $3000NT to go back to my hotel. Not in the cards. Not legal. In fact, it's more illegal than it has ever been starting Sunday. I had lunch with somebody 'in the know' yesterday and the entire conversation either was a setup or was hijacked as elections are coming around the corner.

Essentially, this is how things stand:

- as of now, illegal to sell though legal to purchase. Basically, this means that girls get punished but guys are free other than Rag who, I believe, working girls himself out from time to time.

- as of Sunday, prostitution is illegal for all involved parties. Girls and guys punished.

- oh yeah, it's entirely legal in red-light districts.

- there are NO red-light districts. The national government passed the bill but left the establishment of the districts to municipalities who aren't going to establish them. The person that I talked to said that there wouldn't be any in Taipei for the foreseeable future.

It wasn't a bad ploy in that an outright ban on prostitution was pushed through by sex workers who were not bright enough to read the fine print.

"On Nov. 6,2009, the Council of Grand Justices in Constitutional Interpretation No. 666 found Article 80 in violation of the spirit of equality embodied in the Constitution and ruled that the article be invalidated within two years. According to the amendment, people who engage in the sex trade outside red-light districts, both sex workers and customers, as well as those who sell or buy sex in public, face a fine of NT$30, 000. The amendment also allows procurers and brothel owners to operate in red-light districts, while they could be fined between NT$10, 000 and NT$50, 000 respectively, and be held in detention for three to five days, if they work outside the designated areas."

At least we didn't get the alternative proposal that penalized the men but not the women. (They called that the Swedish system). Though yes, we instead now have, penalizes both the provider and the client. Outside red light districts. And there are no red light districts. The article says the new system here is like the Dutch system. Except, there are are no red light districts.

It reminds me of the old joke.

In the USA, everything that is not prohibited by law is permitted.

In Taiwan prostitution is legal everywhere, but permitted nowhere!

Clearly there are strong interests on all sides of this issue. So there is a lot of spin, posturing, and conspiracy theory. But practically speaking, doesn't this change the playing field dramatically? Prostitution law is a hot potato that would be hard to change again on a national level. So now its down to "the local level." It seems to me it would be cheaper for pimps or sex workers or organized crime to suborn things "locally" than nationally, happens all the time here. I wonder though if they need approval on a county level first then down through township, city, etc, or if they can go directly to the district or neighborhood.

In other words those who oppose us, now have to wage their war on hundreds of different local fronts rather than one national front. Perhaps the battle now shifts to each and every of Taiwan's 14 counties (and 5 special municipalities)? Sure, Taipei would be last, they like to put up a good front for the West, but if one county flips at least we could get some action by train and not plane. I have to believe that if Taiwan can get to a real Dutch model, that we'll have more supply, better quality, and lower prices. Like the Dutch, the Taiwanese are pragmatic businesspeople, and there is clearly some coin to be made in this business.
