Starting a lap dancing club
.. I doubt he has 300k in hand ..
Sure, I doubt he had any real intention to rip investors off. Probably just realised he was spending more than he was making, got scared, flipped and ran for cover.
Which makes me wonder what startup costs would be in a town like Kiev. A number of Kiev forum readers have pointed out that K lacks a really good lap dancing club, in the style of 911 or Safari in Moscow, with $10 for a nasty dance and full take home.
Costs will now of course be a multiple of what Erik had to pay back when he started.
Anyone interested?
Will we get a lot of 'mafia trouble'? :)
We're off to see the Wizard
#1 - Uh huh..yeah sure. I doubt he meant to rip anyone off at all. Heck, I am sure he truly believes he hasn't ripped anyone off. The truly sucessful Con never takes blame for his actions - it's always someone/thing elses fault. When he first got to Kiev you could count the numbers of clubs on one hand. He was German and probably had the latest mix CD, that and a big set of balls made him a promoter.
#2 - Huh, you and a 'number of Kiev forum readers' need to get out more often. Or at least stop making the Arena - River Palace - Fridays - Shooters loop.
#3 - The cops would probably get you long before the mafia did. Who do you think runs most of the strip clubs in Kiev? Geez, Ash how long have you been coming to Kiev? Since last Tuesday? And what do you mean by 'get a lot of mafia trouble'. What do you think they are going to do send Yuri to give you a strong talking too? They will either beat you nearly to death before you sign your interest over or/and put two in your head after you do. And the next day in the Kyiv Post you will read how a foreigner was a victim of xenophobic violence, how sad, tsk tsk bad skin heads. They play for keeps over here.

#4 - Man, I broke my freakin mobile today and had to buy a new one. Where is Hecker when you need him to sponsor you a mobile.
#5 - Durak! I just ran out of M&M's after come back from one of those $10 nasty dance/take home clubs that doesn't exsist in Kiev.
Oh and HJ, I just noticed your lurker/alias posting. There are some really stupid and/or greedy people looking to make a quick buck buying up the Ukrainian banks. Anyone think there is any reason why the people who stole the banks, err, I mean took over are more then willing to sell them? Yeah, you Euro's are way ahead of us on finance scams. Remember 15 years ago someone sent the Latin American/Spanish banking industry into a tailspin when he dropped a few hundred mil of BoB money? Makes it look like chump change compare to SocGen.
Bottom line is some extremely greedy people are looking to make a quick buck however they can and they don't care how many people they fuck over. If you think the retard at the center of the SocGen thing was going to spend the rest of his life at Devils Island you think other's would be quick to follow? How about the scum running the US mortgage companies giving out subprime notes to people on the margin, knowing that they were only going to hold the note as long as it took them to sell it to 'real' bank or some real piece of shit running a Wall Street scam making his money on the amount of transactions he did per day - wether it was going up or down. If these fuckers spent 30-40 years in a 2.5mX2.5m cell you think others would be eager to follow? That's the easy out, personal I think guys like Ken Lay should simply get two in the head.
How does a NYC cabby know all this, I read the WSJ that people leave in my cab. What's your excuse for being brain dead? Really, if people just took the time to get their head out of their ass the world might be a slightly less fucked up place.
It's because of all the EXTRA fees to be made....
Perhaps European banks have a good reason for buying banks in Ukraine.......
Yeah here is ONE!
A UKR lady needs to send $$ (20, 000) to another country to pay for goods!
She has the $20, 000 in USD at home (thanks to some nice friends).
Now she has to go to her bank and BUY UAH, deposit it, then the bank will convert it to USD to send to said country!
Who is in charge of this? WTF! 'Lights are ON, but NOBODY is home! '
