As Bulai69 said. A quick glance through your posts seems to indicate you know BATS and BlockM - fun places for sure, but the real fun begins up North in Jakarta I've found. Plus the service is likely to be better than what you will get in Sydney.

Sure I had fun in Sydney, but gee it was expensive, and took a lot of hunting around to get something approaching Jakarta service. I was in Jakarta a month or so after my last Sydney trip, and had a *lot* more fun for a *lot* less.

I'd saddened to hear about the bombings. I've never stayed at either hotel, but you never know when the next hotel they will pick will be the one you're staying in.

I won't let it dissuade me from flying to Jakarta next month. I feel sorry for all the business that Jakarta and Indonesia will lose, and all the people who depend on that work to support their families. From the maids, cooks and other workers at the hotels, to the restaurants and everything else. The trickledown theory will hurt quite a few.

Back in April I had just one night to sample what Jakarta had to offer, unfortunately, and not even a full night: only about four hours before I had to get to the airport.
