Riga is expensive and the girls aren't interested in foreigners any more, except for money, drinks or meals out. I love the place, but it's no place for mongering.
Avoid Roxy like the plague. It's run by the Russian mafia, and the bouncers seem to be protecting hard drug dealers who operate in the club. It is also VERY common for your drink to be drugged with a sleeping draught. I still go, but I always drink a bottled drink, and if I ever leave it to go to the toilet or to strut my stuff (has to be seen to be appreciated!) on the dance floor, I always abandon the old one and buy a new one.

charles i agree with all you say, the place is going to the dogs, they have got fat and greedy and want to get fatter, we are lining there pockets, but i have a love affair with the place so there you have it, and still if you know where to look you can find gems, tho forget about freebies

They know how to get your money for nothing. Try any 3-4 stars hotels or simply ask the taxi drivers for some owners of a privet appartment in old riga. Most of the taxi drives inside old Riga either own appartments their or know who does.

I second that, as I have a friend that owns a second appartment in Riga (well her family does) and she is one of the lucky ones, a taxi driver...[i]hmmmm[/i].. I don't think so.

Old Riga is only a couple a streets big and there are no taxis that are driving around there, around the outside yes but inside nope.

Well of course prices are going up in Latvia, property prices alone have gone up 37% since last year. I bought 2 properties in Daugaspils last year and the paperwork has just been completed.One property cost me €85000 and is now worth €114000 ( market value) and I haven't even done anything with it yet.
The girls here are still compartively cheap compared to many places in Europe!

Spent the last 2 months in Tasmania and the girls there are looking for $200/hr!!

its not a good choice unless your minted, serse, no disrespect but its people like you who are driving prices up, do you know latvia has the lowest paid wage structure in e europe they earn 150-175 lats per month, and you contemplate paying all these euros for 1-3 hours ?

Fact is, that price level in Riga has rosen past years a lot, and amount you mentioned is simply not enough to live in this city.

i speak to a lot of average latvians, and this is what they tell me, and this is what i have read, ok lets say for arguments sake the average has risen to say, 250 lats a month, then paying that kind of money is still ridiculous, ive said it before i will say it again, latvians/russians whatever they are getting greedy and fat and want to get fatter, and they dont care a fuck how they do it or who they walk over in the process, us the foreign tourists are providing this money, just bear it in mind when you hand over 250 euro to a girl for 2-3 hours work, thats a months fucking salary
