The restaurant/bar in Isoraka you refer to is called Sakamanga (Blue Cat). Very crowded with French tourists most of the time. A few freelancing girls, but a long shot compared to Glacier or Indra. Tsaralana gets started as soon as it gets dark, and has a full range to choose from. I've walked through the area early in the evening to check out the gals up close, but I usually stick to Glacier, the discos and Le Buffet au Jardin (a 24 hr bar/restaurant at the top of the famous -- and dangerous -- stairs not far form the Hotel Colbert). During the day, try shopping at Jumbo on the edge of town -- loaded with nonpros open to "dating". Your point about gifts is correct; a "kadoy" is normal and expected, even in dating situations.

Yes I know that hotel as I slept there a few time but it is not easy to get a room as the place is usually all booked and the freelancing girl are usually accompany with a vazaha on a rare occasion you could have one sitting at the bar

The resto-bar I am talking about is on top of the hill in Isoraka it is in a residential neighborhood (very nice neighboorhood have a very much parisian look) just a few blocks away where you have that road going down to the lake

What I like about the Sakamanga is that you can bring a girl to eat at the restaurant and you can use the door existing to the bathroom to go in the hotel as for bypassing the reception desk it is very discret.

There are indeed some nice and relatively upscale restaurants in Isoraka. One I like is called "coup d'etat" but spelled out in symbols. OK mix of ex-pats, NGO types, and wealthy Malagasy. The was another nearby that was mostly al fresco but had a friendly little bar too. I rec ommend Chez Suzette in Isoraka for authentic Creole cooking and a nice vibe. Girlfriend friendly place.
