Brazil was the first country of South America to join the allies during WWII. Their armed forces have long strong relations with occident countries. Only strong industry, including car, aerospace and now nuclear subs, keep them away from not western countries. They are so strong, that they had the political strength to impeach Dilma Roussef in 2016. So, the next years will be very important for this balance. Hope it's not broken.
Public Defender's Office reports at least 20; report witnessed seven people being carried away on sheets or towels in the community.
The Military Police and the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro confirmed at least 18 dead in an operation carried out in Complexo do Alemo, in the north of Rio de Janeiro, this Thursday (21). The action lasted about 12 hours with intense shootings, ending around 17:00.
Representatives of the corporations stated, in an interview with journalists, that this is a partial balance. The bodies are still being identified by the Civil Police. Among the victims is a 50-year-old woman who was driving through the region with her boyfriend.
Considering the count so far, the operation is the fifth deadliest in the history of Rio de Janeiro, according to a survey by Geni (Grupo de Estudos dos Novos Ilegalismos) at UFF (Universidade Federal Fluminense). Great video on the negatives about living in Brazil.

Yet more innocent Rio residents dying at the heavy-handed tactics of the police, as they kill with impunity.
Black man in boot of Brazil police car, in Umbauba (in the northeastern state of Sergipe), dies of asphyxiation after being trapped by officers in the back of the smoke-filled car.
Genivaldo de Jesus Santos, the 38-year-old handcuffed black man described by his family as suffering from schizophrenia can be heard screaming and his legs, which stick out of the vehicle, kick for a time, until they eventually stop moving.

The incident comes just days after officers of the highway police participated in an operation in Rio de Janeiro that left more than 20 people dead.
Many comment that, this is a "George Floyd" style killing, and is an everyday occurrence in Brazil, at the hands of a racist, discriminatory and brutal corrupt Brazilian police force.

This is not a race thing. This is a people thing. Was it racist when Polpot did it to his own people in Cambodia? Was it racist when Stalin did it to his people in Russia? What was it when Amin did it to his own people in Uganda? Was it racist when these Thai cops recently did it to other Thais?
"A former Thai police chief has been sentenced to life in jail after being found guilty of murder by torture, in a case that sparked national outrage over police brutality. "

I can read Folha or O Globo for the killings and other other depressing stuff.

Yeah, pretty wacky take!
Albeit, misguided and misplaced. BTW, you being from the US, you'd have been better served to provide us with an example from the US, if there is one... oh, right, George Floyd and countless others.
The tens of thousands, that protested across Brazil, in the wake of this incident (and the other massacre in Rio at the time), would say otherwise! They were protesting the racist and discriminatory police brutality, killings (with impunity) and murders, that are disproportionately levied and targeted, against them, over and over again, simply because of where they live or the color of the their skin.
Sounds like your misguided opinion is saying they (the Brazilians Protestors and favela residents) don't know jack about what their protesting, are full of shit, and are simply imagining these targeted attacks on "blacks" and "favela residents", by police.
I reported the story of them saying what they're saying. I for one, have no reason to not to believe them. The disproportionate numbers also backup and testify to what the protestors are saying.

Notwithstanding your political gymnastics or wacky spin, to frame this in a different light, the protestors speaking to their cause, tell you exactly what they thought and what they're fighting for...if you care to listen.

You totally missed my point. And on purpose it seems. The point is this is hardly about race because it also happens in places where the entire population is homogeneous. You guys act like mfs in the Congo, where everyone is the same, are not doing the same thing to each other. Sure it is racial in some cases, but in the vast majority it is not. People tend to skip over the cases where a cop does it to a suspect of the same race as if it is only happening when the race of the 2 people or groups of people is different. That is just plain disingenuous.
So yeaaa a crack head that did a violent home invasion on a pregnant woman (Between 1997 and 2005, he was convicted of eight crimes. He served four years in prison after accepting a plea bargain for a 2007 aggravated robbery in a home invasion.) can now be held as your hero. He left some big shoes to fill. People need to raise their kids to be more like George Floyd.
And in Minnesota the other day prostestors were out because the cops killed another dumb mf that was shooting through the walls of an apartment building almost killing a woman and her kids. The lady ran out and confronted the protesters asking if they were fucking stupid feeling sorry for this guy. Then if the lady and her kids would have gotten killed the same dumb mfs would have been protesting that the cops were not there or did nothing the same as they are doing in Uvalde. Can't fucking win with these folks.
I have a gun for everyday of the month and have carried one in the States everyday for the last 29 years and no cops have ever stopped me harassing me or beat me or killed me. I am definitely Black, so it must be because I am not out doing dumb shit. Instead of teaching your kids that someone is out to get them, how about teaching them not to be out doing dumb shit.
Is this where we're at now, "The Congo"....really? And you wonder why I say wacky.
57% of Brazilians are Black or mixed, but they make up 80% of the people killed by police.
Not true, totally false information! We are taking about Brazilian police brutality, dude. NOT the Congo!
LOL. Yet you first mentioned George Floyd. Was he Brazilian?
Sure different groups of people do stupid shit everyday. However, it seems only certain groups of people get killed for it, even when following orders,
Sorry dude. I did not read the article. But I will take your word that a bunch of random Black dudes are walking down the favela minding their own business and the police picks them up and kills them frequently.
LOL. Yet you first mentioned George Floyd. Was he Brazilian?
If you care to re-read the posts and understand them appropriately, you will note, George Floyd's name came up because he is mention by a protester, to reference the same style of killing that was being exacted upon Genivaldo de Jesus Santos. Hence the connection, hence the reasons to report the police brutality.
Nobody mentioned, The Congo!
But go ahead and deflect all you want, when you can't produce said evidence, to backup your so called "vast majority". Still waiting for that information... Tick-Tock!

The actual data on the subject, says otherwise.
57% of Brazilians are Black or mixed, but they make up 80% of the people killed by police.
Yet to see this "vast majority" data you've crooked up, to go alone with the "bunch of random Black dudes. ".
