I know a little off the general topic but I have a visa overstay issue. I am in Indonesia on a 30 day VOA.

Now that I am in an overstay situation I cannot get the extension.

Now it looks like I'll be leaving about 14 days overstay. However I will not know the exact date until the day or two before my actual departure.

As I understand it it is a 250, 000 rp per day fine. It is not supposed t0o be a major issue until a 60 day ovestay so I should be OK. However I am concerned about a shakedown at the airport and or a red exit stamp (2 year ban for reentry). I have heard stories about people being held until they miss their flight unless they pay a big "departure fee". My fine should be about 3, 500, 000 rp.

I don't mind paying a "departure fe"e in addition to the fine, my question is about how much would be approprate to pay and any other guidance on getting out of the country wth the ability to return. My plan is to get there as early as possable, admit that it was my fault and ask how much the fine is and go from there.

Anyone know any good visa agents that could help with this?

Make sure you select a ticket type where you get a refund if the ticket is cancelled, usually there will be a cancellation fee of 50USD. When you have got the ticket go and get your visa extension. When you have got the visa extension go back to Garuda and cancel the ticket and get the refund minus the fee.
