28.000 is enough to hire a taxi to take you to several stops with waiting time between Poblado and surrounding areas. Use Didi or Uber to get a fare estimate up front and be able to track the route and estimate arrival time. That is the easy convenient and least expensive way to do it. Once you find yourself converting pesos to dollars that is a red flag that you are trying to justify a cost you really know you overpaid.

If it is over 20 mil, it could be waiting in traffic, or the meter was turned on when they got the call and not when picked up. They could be juicing you or whatever the con the chick is running. I don't like to deal with all that shit, so I just tell the chicas that I will give them 20 mil for the taxi. I have not heard a single one complain about it.

There's no way that their party was more dense than a typical day on the street in El Centro now. And during the 10 weeks of lockdown, I heard many large and loud parties in Prado Centro, that went until 3 or 4 in the morning. Seems like these arrests only happen to foreigners.

I know we are just talking $8.[/QUOTE]You should inquire as to which barrio your Chicas are coming from, along with making notes as to the time of day, and the weather. When they arrive ask how long did it take to get there. Sometimes there's what called a "taco", not something you get at Taco Bell, but the word they use for heavy traffic / delays. Another factor besides the time of day is the weather, along with the route taken and whether they take surface streets or the Autopista. A lot of times the taxis will take the longest route to increase their fares which you will have no control over. When I travel across town I tell the drivers the route I want to take and the shortcuts thru Poblado, along with which streets to avoid. But again this won't help you much. A strategy you might employ with your Chica's is just tell them you will only pay a fixed amount for taxi fare, but then what will happen is they will take buses that drop them off close to your place and then hop in a cab and pay the minimum fare. In reality, a Chica should be able to get your apartment for no more than about 10 K if they have to even take two buses, along with a short cab ride.

I know it's rough for you seeing all those perceived excessive taxi charges ($ 2 USD) but prices could vary upwards of 10 K depending on the route, the weather, and the traffic. Additionally, a lot of times the taxi's meters aren't calibrated properly, maybe by design, and I have noticed this on numerous occasions.

Hopefully this information will improve your "taxi game" and you can report back on your successes!

Good point about Poblado and Laureles because there are plenty of loud parties every weekend in other barrios including mine. Hell, there is a nightly soccer match with lights and a cheering crowd in Milagrosa.

One night I hop in the taxi and the meter, which at that time was supposed to start at 3000 was already above 5 k. I pointed to the meter said "que es este? Por que no es 3000?" he apologized and reset the meter. Around Lleras, especially late night, the taxistas will start the meter when they park, figuring many passengers won't notice.

Another time I watched the meter reach 8 k before we were close to the apartment. I told the driver I take the same taxi ride every night and his meter was wrong. He accepted 7 k and went away. Drivers will pay someone to alter the meter, because most customers won't have any idea.

There's a rumor that not every taxi driver is 100% honest.

And it's amazing they would blow off the Police after being warned, especially the foreigners.

Today was the day to buy things without having to pay the Colombian 19% tax on merchandise, albeit there were some limitations as to which items, and a maximum dollar value of approximately $ 800 USD for items. Total craziness with incredible lines, forget any social distancing, and like a total stampede. Doesn't make sense in having a one day affair like this, and really only to the benefit of the upper classes.

Clearly the upper class can benefit from it and probably do. But the middle and lower classes likely do also. Everyone knows about today. Some save money to buy certain things today. 19% off is a good deal.

Some of these poor folks may not have food, but some of them (thinking of working girls) sure have nice TV, boom boxes, make-up, clothes, shoes and purses. I had one chica friend of mine message me today sending me fotos of the expensive lingerie she purchased. She said there was a promotion on top of the IVA discount.

One things for sure, this promotion did nothing to help with social distancing!
