What do you consider highend? Loutrons and Fase Dos?
High-end, well, I'd say more like OVER-PRICED. At least for me.
Some guys dig it it. That's cool.
I'm pretty good at finding hot chicas without having to pay that sort of price.
We all have our tools when looking for and meeting chicas. Whether it be money, good looks, good espanol, gifts, nice apartment, gift of gab, personality, etc.
Guys that like to spend lots of money to be with a hot chica, good for them. I prefer to use other tools I have in my bag.

The old rules apply
I just got back from Medellin. I had a great time. Spent most of my nights with a local paisa I meet and my days at the casas in el centro. This mix worked will. The question I wanted to ask was about el centro at night. There was time when I wanted to go to the strip clubs in el centro at night and was told that I was very dangerous. Instead I went to sandiego and fase 2. Not that they were bad the women there were from 7 to 12's (pero muy caro). I wanted to see the difference between the strip clubs in el centro and in poblado. See the difference both in the women and the prices. If it was only one local telling me that el centro is dangerous I would have ignored it but it was about 4 people that said it was unsafe. I am told I could pass as a local as long as I don't speak. My spanish is gringo. Ised. I was told by my paisa that Medellin is safe as long as you don't advertise. I guess if you look like a gingo then your advertising. So, again is Medellin safe at night; does anyone have any bad experiences in el centro strip clubs.
By all means don't flash money. Don't wear gold. Take taxi's to and from, and do not get drunk. I should of made that rule # one. IMHO
If strip clubs are you thing then I would stick to Centro. There is always 3 or 4 girls in the centro clubs that equal the high end joints. Yes Sandiego and Fase Dose have more hot girls, but how many do you need?
As far as the rules mentioned I follow then all except I like to walk around so I do not follow the taxi rule.
... So, again is Medellin safe at night; does anyone have any bad experiences in el centro strip clubs ...
Thatīs really a question you just canīt answer `yes`or `no`really, it just depends.
In general, el Centro has the great potential to be dangerous, especially at night.
The srip clubs themselves though aren`t dangerous, just the area they`re in.
It depends on not just how well you speak and understand spanish but more on how well traveled and experienced you are and if you have that sense of when you might be in `trouble`or that `trouble`is checking you out.
How you carry yourself and dress and move, and are perceived, etc has lots do with the danger.

Guys,
I'm just back from about a week in Medellin.
I read a week or so back the trip report from Artisttyp and checked out his recommendations on chicas in casas and strip clubs.
He was right on the money.
All the chicas he mentioned were just as he reported, fantastic.
My favorite casa, I entered just by coincedence because my buddy was at an optomotrist near by and I just happen to be right there, so I popped in for a looksy.
The casa, ALEJAS, turned out to be fantastic. Presented about 10-12 chicas, 4 of them for me were very nice.
Since I dig las morenas, I choose Judeth and man was she FANTASTIC.
BEST casa chica for me this trip for sure.
Funny thing is, I was in the room waiting for her (Judeth) when the optomotrist called me to help translate for my friend, when she walked in the room.
She obviously heard me speaking to a doctor on my cel, but she still took my clothes off, laughing and having fun while she gave a great BBBJ as I was talking to the doc. Fun!
Anyway, she was fantastic all the way! You guys that like light Chocolate, give her a whirl.
I enjoyed Medellin as always. But I do have to say, without a doubt, now that I'm back in Brazil, the Brasileiras in general, are by far the best with the Colombianas in trail.
Don't get me wrong, I dig las Colombianas, but something about that Brazillian attitude.
Take care amigos.

Great Casa
I went to Sexy on Carrera 45D the No. 57-67 this afternoon. The D part of 45 crossed me up a bit, but when you are at 45 then just head a block torward the Metro.
A very strong line up was on hand. Around 10 Chicas to review and even with the pen and paper I brought I was at a loss to pick one. Prices are 30K half hour and I think 50K for the hour. Also two girls 55K for 45 minutes.
I was between picking two girls and I finally took Nicole. A 22 year old woman with a smile that made me take her. 20k propina for my coveted BBBJ and Worth
Every penny as she does it slow and smooth. You guys know what I mean when every now and then she will look up at you and smile. Muy rico!
Out of the 30K she tells me she gets to keep 19K for herself.
It took a while for it to sink into my thick head, but now after this I will forgo the strip clubs (to much nickle, dime stuff) and just Casa runs in the day and Mayorista at night.
BTW the police have been checking people in Mayorista also. They only search young dirty looking Colombian guys and stare at the chicas.
Last Monday night was great here. I think the locals got paid.
I will be on the job tonight and I hope the pickens are good again.
Hell it is 19 degrees in New jersey and the least I can do is send some good news home.
Yup. My amigas never answered my call before 5!
You forgot to add. Being late!
Rule 1: Never arrange to meet a Colombian anywhere where you're not happy to spend an hour or two by yourself.
-
What laws are we talking about? So they're going to outlaw fun? What are the laws on our hobby in Colombia anyway? Is is full on legal with a license an all that or is it like pot in Amsterdam and just de-criminalized?
As I understand it, prostitution is illegal, but tolerated in certain areas! Pimping is illegal.
As I understand it, prostitution is illegal, but tolerated in certain areas! Pimping is illegal.
According to the US State Department:
"Adult prostitution is legal in designated "tolerance zones," but enforcement of, and restriction to, the zones remained difficult. Prostitution was widespread and exacerbated by poverty and internal displacement. Sex tourism existed to a limited extent, particularly in coastal cities such as Cartagena and Barranquilla, where marriage and dating services were often fronts for sexual tourism. The law prohibits organizing or facilitating sexual tourism and provides penalties of three to eight years' imprisonment. Trafficking in women for sexual exploitation continued to be a problem."

Just my 2 centavos
As I understand it, prostitution is illegal, but tolerated in certain areas! Pimping is illegal.
Actually, in Colombia: Adult prostitution IS legal but in designated "tolerance zones,".
This statement is from the "2008 Human Rights Reports: Colombia" posted on Feb. 2009 on the U.S. Department of State website.
http://www.state.gov/g/drl/rls/hrrpt/2008/wha/119153.htm
Since this statement is on a USA website and not an official Colombian website, I'd speculate that in reality Prostitution is NOT legal in Colombia but rather NOT illegal. The difference being that there is no legislature "legalizing or legitimizing" Prostitution but at the same time no legislature to the contrary "condemning" or making it illegal.
I also believe it to have ever been "decriminalized" because Prostitution was never deemed "criminal" in the 1st place in Colombia.
Trafficking and/or pimping of humans for exploitation IS illegal in Colombia.
It is worth pointing out that the website mentions that there is a"Colombian" law that prohibits organizing or facilitating sexual tourism and provides penalties of three to eight years' imprisonment.
I would concur as someone mentioned earlier that current visual raids are occurring lately on open Prostitution due to the upcoming elections. Street Walkers in El Centro or Calle 53 or anywhere for that matter would be high risk areas for police confrontation.
The Casas, Strip Joints, Night Clubs and of course Mayorista are business as usual being these are "Tolerance Zones".
Cheers,
Cubanut

i've seen the glue-sniffers down the alleyways from the zone in back of the cathedral and also a lot of very young-looking girls too. but why bother the other prostitutes?
does anyone know when the upcoming elections will be? i'll be in medellin next month, i'd like to have a smooth cruise through the red light districts and not get hasseled by the le.

Also, those shady areas where the SW happen to hang out.. happens to be where low level drug dealers and criminals hang out which is why police go there a lot.

Frank Casio is right - La Mayorista is head and shoulders safer than Centro - although they are the sam estrato.
