If your camera uses an SD card go into a camera store in Copacabana and they can read the SD card and put them to CD for you, then you can do what you want with them like post them here.
I have also done this at 2 or 3 internet cafes. All they charge you is the cost of the CD, around R$5, last year. Just make sure that they delete the pictures out of the temporary buffer in the computer or you will be leaving a copy of all of your photos on their computer. I gave away an inexpensive camera but wanted to keep the photos, so I had it done at "Todo Facil", last time. I think they are closed, but any internet cafe should be willing to do it.

You will find what you need at Multicoisas. There are two in Copacabana, one very close to the intersection of Constance Ramos and Barata Ribeiro, the other also on Barata Ribeiro near Paula Freitas

I got to Rio yesterday, and went to Monte Carlo today. Rates seemed higher than I expected based on what I've read here and elsewhere, am wondering if I got jacked.
It was 310 BRLfor 40 minutes (entrance fee + room fee + girl fee) = 310. That plus one drink resulted in final bill of 320 BRL= $178 USD.
After reading all the post about picking up girls at bars for 150. 200 BRL, I expected to pay less. What do you regulars say?

Wouldnt you know it, she did various searches on my hardrive and found pictures of my trip that was buried deep in the windows folder! She then emptied the damn recycle bin, so now they are gone.
Can anyone tell me a good recovery application that I can use to retrieve those pics? I have tried EASEUS, RECUSA and Recover Files and still cant getthem back! It just happened today and I have over 40 gigs of space in the hardrive so I dont hink it was overwritten. Is there a way to get them from the registry or from an application.
A few of the pics are of a girl who just left two days ago to get mnarried in atlanta so i may never see her again. I really want to get thise pics back. ANy help would be greatly appreciated!!

You paid the going rate at MC. Picking up girls at a bar, like Balconey, is something entirely different than going to a termas. At Balconey you can subtract the entrance fee (some bars have some sort a bar fine) and room fee (unless you take her to a love hotel)--you are left with the girl fee, whatever you negotiate. Termas make things simple and convenient--but at a price.
Try 4x4. 220R for an hour inclusive of room and girl fee. If you take a girl before 5PM, the entrace fee is waived.

In the past, I have used Microsoft's REST2514 (google it). Also File Scacenger [url]http://download.cnet.com/File-Scavenger-Data-Recovery-Utility/3000-2094_4-10028488.html[/url] was useful. Files should be recoverable, even if the recycle bin was emptied.
The best protection is always to back up all your data.

Or, do you have recommendations for a place closer to Leblon so I don't also need to taxi to Copacabana (another 15 BRL each way).

4x4 is in Centro--Rua Buenos Aires 44, just off of Rio Branco. Metro stop: Carioca or Uruguania. Over a hundred gdps at peak time (after 6PM). Opens at 2PM and is open only Monday-Friday. Do a google search for "termas 4x4 rio de janeiro" and get a wikipedia entry with map. Taxi ride to Centro from Leblon might be 25-35R. Taxi ride to nearest Metro stop will be about 10-15R; Metro to Centro is 2-3R.
Closest termas to Leblon is Solarium. Prices are exactly the same as Monte Carlo, and Solarium is roughly the same size as Monte Carlo too. Rua J. J. (jota-jota) Sebara, 21--just off Avenida Jardim Botanico. Taxi from Leblon to Solarium will be about 10-15R (but closer to 10). Google "termas solarium rio de janreiro". On Solarium's webiste, signup for 'festa da internauta" to get a 30R discount coupon (which you will have to printout) on the room fee on Mondays. Open everyday, except the occasional holiday. Opens Monday-Saturday at 3PM; on Sunday it opens at 4PM.

The other closest termas to Leblon is Centaurus at the far end of Ipanema away from Leblon. Centaurus will cause even more sticker shock (something over 400R for 40 minutes). Google "termas centaurus " to get to the Wikipedia entry and map.
Staying in Barra as have done on my last few trips. I like to surf and swim. Yesterday decided on a long run through the ecological resrve alongside the beach then up to the end of Recreio. After an Agua de coco, walked across the road to look for a taxi and found a new ***** house! Its been open a couple of months and opens from 9am to 10pm. As it was about 1pm I ddecided to do inside. The place is in a newish lokking commercial building on the 2nd floor in a quiet neighborhood

I passed by the Meridian last week; it's under construction but looks like it has a long way to go, so we may be waiting on this for some time now.
But it doesn't matter much because there is already a replacement for the Terraco Atlantico and Help combo and that is Balcony bar and Dolce Vita. It really is the same venue with an outdoor restaurant/bar and inside disco, right next door to each other, exactly the same set up but in miniature.
Outside at Balcony bar is pretty much the same people who hung out at TA and inside Dolce Vita is pretty much the same crowd that would have gone inside Help but I think per capita higher quality. Entrance fee is cheaper but drinks are more expensive.
Dolce Vita does not have the same atmosphere as Help had. Of course I went into Help to find a girl but now I see I also liked hanging out there, sometimes just to get lost and find a corner and watch the whole scene and listen to the music pretty much incognito. Then if I saw something I liked I could make a move on it. Dolce Vita is too small for this, there are no corners to hide and watch the scene, there isn't really much room to move around and check everything out, you find a spot and you're stuck there.
There were some nice girls there so maybe it will suffice in the interim until a larger Help replacement comes along in the next year or two.

I wonder how long it will take for it to change completely. I also felt that it was easy to feel 'stuck' after choosing a spot. I don't really drink, especially at those prices, so would make several forays in and out, survey the place for possibilities with fast, pretty icy detachment, make rapid decisions on any girls I spoke to (usually a 'no') and get out all within the space of 60 seconds before looking like a clay pigeon.
I only scored once in there. Basically it was girl who liked to dance and whose first words weren't 'buy me a drink.' She didn't ask for a drink all night. Her sister came over onto the dance floor and shared one of her drinks with us a couple of times. After at least an hour of dancing (which I happen to like - and was generally impossible to do without commitment in Help latterly, except when the Brasilian dancefloor at the back was open), I told her how much I was going to pay if she came back. By that time we had bonded to the point where anything else would have seemed strange, but I like to cover these details. She looked gorgeous on my balcony in the morning. :)
