I will be staying in a budget hotel, something like City Lodge or Maxim's inn or something in that general area for convenience. I've never had anything stolen but in Kl, my locks were tampered with and I've heard fist hand accounts of theft from people in Manila and Vietnam so it's best to be careful.

If I leave my day pack I can fit my camera and important stuff in a small camera bag sort of like a holster. I don't know if that makes me stick out more or draw more attention compared to a 25 l North Face backpack with the camera inside.
