I remember when I was in my early twenties I had a good friend and each time when I was at his place, his mom used to ask me if I'd eaten.

This is the Asian cultural equivalent to the western "How are you?" Think how you treat that question when you get it in the west. It's a formality to be tossed away quickly to get to the conversation. How inane is it, really? Take the Asian equivalent the same way, a courtesy characteristic of the Asian culture. If you want to know how "have you eaten?" got embedded in Asian greetings, just look at the long history of famines in the region.

To say it in Tagalog, it's "kakain ka na ba?" or similar words. So when you hear locals starting a conversation with that phrase, you know it's not you, they all say this with each other.

That's it exactly, Fin."Kakain ka na ba?" is the Filipino equivalent of the "How's it going?" or "What's going on, buddy?" often heard in the US.

And we should also recognize that families eat together. And when you take a gal out on a date, well, you usually share a meal. And some of my best "dates" were those where I cooked. (not in the Philippines of course)

And when I barfine, I always ask the gal if she's hungry. Not sure if sharing a postbarfine 2am meal improves the GFE, but what the hell.

And trying to get back on the thread of "chat", I have to go eat is one of my favorite excuses to end a boring chat.

Does not take Sigmund Freud to figure out that the empty food related questions in some sense constitutes some act of care, but I would like to throw in boredom, control, and / or lack of effort / courage to have a real conversation, as well. I have been subjected to all of these versions of the food inquiries. Endlessly, until I stopped replying.

Many times it is a ping to see IF you reply. To "own" your foreign ass and wallet. To check the daily value of herself. A girl hiding behind a facade of care, but in reality yearning to take control over your every minute.

And in addition; things can still be stupid, even if they are a common part of "culture".

Admittedly it is however a great opening for replying: "Not yet, but jump into your string panties, stop by at McDonalds and wake me up in an hour with a strawberry milk shake and a blow job".

What I found was very informative. Lots of recently arrived 'separated' or 'divorced' Filipinas searching for a new idiot to support and marry them. Some of them even had newborn babies. Their profiles read a lot differently than when they were in their impoverished hellhole seeking salvation from some gullible foreigner. They don't want 'controlling' men, jealous men, drunkards or smokers. They also want men closer to their age or even younger. The story is the same. All of their problems with their sponsor started after arriving in the USA. Now, I know a lot of old goats go seeking a sweet little wife in the Philippines to import at great expense. Why bother with so many already here? Surely, some Bubba's misfortune can be your good luck. Think of it as windfall pussy. And if you're thinking about importing some exotic flesh just remember that she wouldn't stop searching when the plane leaves the Philippines and the immigration agent admits her to Paradise. Your quest for love may end there but hers is just beginning.

LOL, at one stage I was banging 3 that were here in melbourne, married an older aussie and were very happy here. The search NEVER stopped. One AC girl that had tickets and a passport in the stamp delayed her trip to oz to be with me during my holiday while her fiance was waiting and then every time she went "shopping" she would email me the list of groceries and instead of the supermarket she would come to me for a quickly. Funny thing is they actually become freebies once in the promised land and married. Few years latter the marriage ended and she is now off in sydney married to another sucker. I still visit.

Like many of the expats wrote here, if you want to merry a filipina, go and leave there make friends, get them to fix you up via their missus rellos or whatever. Just a not about this girl from DIA, Cristlyncarlos, not sure how true, added her in yahoo, but before we chat she or someone comes back with msg saying she is lying and I am only 14, but have blocked her and deleted, so you can never be sure, for a start, as I like to see on cam with in 1st chat so you know who you chat to.
