Cuba not open to American tourists
I just watched on the news. That Obama will open up relations and possible businesses for USA residents. Tourist travel only from USA and Cuba will still be banned. That figures.
Term Private Entrance in Cuba
Hope you didn't pre-pay sir. As I have said before it's best if you rent a hotel for one day and spend that day checking out casas so you know what your getting into, if it's your first time. Most of the casas online advertise "private entrance" but that's just to get you hooked. My advise if you haven't pre-paid is to not accept the casa if you don't like it, there are plenty of others. Plus money on the spot talks meaning if someone walks up with cash you reservation means nothing.
Getting the correct casa is tricky in Cuba. I've had two reliable casas not be available even though they knew I was coming. Luckily they hooked me up with better casas where the families moved out on short notice because they know I'm a responsible tenant. I don't cook in the casas I prefer to eat out. Also I don't run multiple girls through the casa. Usually it's just my girlfriend and maybe one side Chica. Understand Cubans don't mind giving up the house but they don't like random people hanging out.
You will have to pay for the full trip in advance once you arrive so if you violate any of the rules you can be evicted with no refund, so be on your best behavior and respect the casa. You can't go to the police because they will back the casa owner.
So you can think you have everything figured out but obviously you don't know Cuban people. They are in control of this situation even if you believe otherwise so expect the unexpected. We really don't want your future report and pictures because I'm sure it won't be any good anyway. You booked online and feel that is a major accomplishment when in fact it's probably the beginning of a terrible trip. Again, have two or three backup casas on standby in case the first one doesn't fit your needs. But it's best to check into a hotel for one day and explore casas so you can interview the various casas and find a comfort zone for the rest of your trip.
Good casa info, I confirm all you write in my experiences with casas. Lots of 'private entrances' I have seen consist of you enter the main door of the casa, walk thru the living room and see the whole family, from baby right up to grandma, then you walk thru the kitchen and then you find your 'private entrance' to your room. Got to luv the those cuban chicas, I still rank them numbero uno, then colombianas, then brazilianas. You have never had a girl really ride you cowgirl until you have had a cubana. No wonder they are called 'jineteras' in Cuba. This spring I was checking out a casa, it had a shared bathroom, when I questioned the owner about the advertised private bathroom you then showed me it had a door.
That is kind of the way I see it
Hold your horses guys, it's not going to turn into the fuckfest some of you guys see. The Cuban govt will not allow prostitution to trump tourism. Look for a crackdown on open prostitution to set the stakes.
Luckily for the vets that know how to maneuver there, that we can fly under the radar because we already have connections there and understand how things operate. The new guys will have a breaking period learning about the casa situation and how the girls operate with the police watching. The girls will raise prices as their options increase. When the internet arrives and most girls have access to it, the game will be over and it will be time to find a new place. Without the internet and access to Americans the girls will have to rely on walk traffic and previous connections. The window is closing but it's not closed yet.
I think you hit the nail on the head there Mr. Gogo. I was not happy to hear Cuba may open up. I felt it was my little, private, playground. Once the average American Joe gets a load of the sizzeling hot Cuban chicks, he will surely stray from the tour group and prices will climb dramatically. Maybe I will try the Dominican Republic. I love that brown sugar!
