It's the Vegas syndrome.
People who go to Las Vegas for a long weekend gravitate towards the strip, they pay more for hotels and meals (and girls too). They gamble more and lose more too.
The people who live there successfully only go to the strip to show it to their friends who come to visit. They have learned where they can get food that's as good or better for half the price (and girls too).
Do you mean El Poblado is similar to Las Vegas? I ask because it appears to me mongers who live / stay there pay MUCH more for everything.
Do you mean El Poblado is similar to Las Vegas? I ask because it appears to me mongers who live / stay there pay MUCH more for everything.
Since JBee was responding to my post, I'll venture in. I was stating that guys visiting for a short period of time aren't likely to get many hot-looking girls for 50 K like the original poster who lives there. If one lives in Medellin (or Las Vegas or wherever), they have all the time in the World to find and befriend local talent that a short-term visitor just won't have the time or patience to do. There are indeed newer, fresher girls that can be gotten for very low prices. But it generally takes time to find them. And they generally aren't in Poblado. They're in a comuna/neighborhood where they don't see lots of Gringos.
Of course, eventually, some of these girls will be "discovered" by the Gringo hoard, they'll starting hanging out in Poblado and their fees will go up. Then the guy that lives there will just move on to the next batch of less-spoiled fresh talent.
FWIW, I have nothing against Poblado. It's a nice neighborhood to stay in. It's just that everything is way more expensive than in other areas of the city.
It's sad that the Country hasn't been able to slow things down, even with the lockdowns.
Surfer, I agree. There is not one speck of recent data supporting a September 1 reopening, and the political situation is even worse than I imagined. If the president reopens the country too soon, and there is a surge of cases, and I am sure they would be, then he is going to get crucified.
The virus is not behaving like it did in Asia and Europe.
Do you mean a Canadian who is in US on Saturday can drive to Canada and be on a flight to fly to CR on Sunday, the next day?
Don't worry. Not likely to happen. Cross border non-necessary travel is not permitted between Canada and US. Either way. You could fly I suppose. But why would anyone want to?
Do you mean El Poblado is similar to Las Vegas? I ask because it appears to me mongers who live / stay there pay MUCH more for everything.
Not like Vegas. It's more affluent and trendy. Hipster coffee shops. Think San Francisco.
Very stylish. And if course that's more expensive. Other areas are much more what you would expect from a middle class neighborhood in South America. It's a matter of taste and expense. I personally like the beach and left after one day. Cities are not my thing but the women are beautiful in Medellin. Stunning and Lleras Park has a lot of action although certainly pricey. If you just want girls they are all over and certainly cheaper elsewhere. I found a really nice 21 year old early in the evening and she treated me very well...
Do you mean El Poblado is similar to Las Vegas? I ask because it appears to me mongers who live / stay there pay MUCH more for everything.
My comparison would be between all of Medellin and Las Vegas.
The bulk of the tourists stay along the Vegas strip, or in Poblado. The more experienced tourists move off the strip, some to Fremont Street, in Medellin they go to Laureles. The budget tourists go to even cheaper areas of Vegas, El Centro in Medellin. Each one is able to find and do the same things at different price points.
But the people who move to Vegas, or Medellin, soon find their own level. They don't need to be right in the middle of the action. They know where to go, or who to call, for whatever they want, without the tourist markup.

But why would anyone want to?
I am somewhat surprised with your response on this entire topic. You can actually say Canadian will be treated like everyone else who enter from US need to be quarantined for 14 days. On the surface, it does not make a lot of sense to deny entry of a citizen at the border, essential or not.
If you want a refund dispute the charge with your credit card company. You will receive credit right away. By act of Congress Spirit can't keep your money. Spirit will stall and offer vouchers but they have to give it up.
Spirit airlines ought to be very ashamed. They attempted to allow me to book the same seat from MDE to FLL that I have booked on the same day. That's weird, to get to TPA you must pass through FLL, all dates are blacked out to TPA, but FLL is allowing you to book flights. Spirit does not return money, they try and give you credit for flights later on that are valid a year from the date you purchase this ticket. I would not try and book a flight if you do not want your finances tied up for a least 14 days before being returned. Pollo Negro is out!
Anybody else make it to El Centro today? Saw less talent than yesterday, but still were a lot of chicas out today. Saw some incredible talent around town. Today was a monger day so I picked up a nice, pretty, thick chica with a caramel complexion. BBBJ was fantastic. No rush and sucked for as long as I wanted. I think she was actually enjoying it. Smashed in several different positions. Very sweet and soft is how I would describe her. Let me go balls deep. Really great and satisfying time. Definitely plan to repeat in the future.
It really is an economic question that the president needs to deal with. The country could re-open if it wanted. And just require a COVID 19 negative test upon entry.
The question I have is "who really wants to go to Colombia right now with COVID 19 out of control there"? I would go, but I would hole up in my apartment, enjoy the jacuzzi, read, order domocilio, and, of course, have my chicas visit. But for the average guy who likes to go and party, not much there for you right now. Further, I love going into the barrios, but I won't be going for a while now. Given the economic situation, things are more dangerous as people are more desperate. The average gringo needs to think about that as well.
We'll see. Everyone has an opinion, but none of us really know. I'm just holding on to my reservations. I can always change them.

Pinky came over last night. Her hair is all natural, now. Body as good as always. We brought a tv up to the jacuzzi and were in there for hours upon hours. I must have had 14 Aguila Lights. Only one pop, but it was a good one.
Nice pics bro. Glad to see folks here enjoying the summer.
I unfortunately agree with you that getting back to Colombia before the end of the year might be a stretch. Things are not going well regarding the virus there, and it appears that all they are able to do is throttle things with the lock-downs so their health care system can keep up, yet cases keep rising, there's no flattening of the infection rate, with over 270,000 infections thus far. It's sad that the Country hasn't been able to slow things down, even with the lockdowns.
Just the sates of California and Florida have about the same numbers. By that argument, Colombia is faring better as a country than these states!!

The virus has behaved the same everywhere. The difference is how the people behave.
Every time any disease is making the rounds Asia puts on masks. No arguments, no protests, they mask up until it goes away.
Europe has a better educated population. Depending on the country, they've been more aggressive at identification, isolation and contact tracing.
Colombia had the right idea, but too many people just went about business as usual. When the numbers kept going up they didn't or couldn't get the people to comply.
I think it would be of interest to see a breakdown of cases by estrato. I expect the early burden was in estrato 5 and 6 areas. Now I suspect it's spreading faster in the lower estrato barrios.
