Santo Domingo
I'll continue my drink of choice is Gin with orange juice.
I would rather not say where my treatment took place as the young female doctor that stitched me and I have a " friendship " thing going. My cousin has one with the receptionist. The entire experience at the clinic was really good. The young doctor had a technician do 5 x-rays on me. They would not take my Med card but the entire cost was only $ 200. I finally got around to sending the bill to my insurance co. Of course this was an emergency but base on my experience I would recommend their care if need.
I like (Lechon ) cerdo asado also.
As of now I plan to go down again in Nov. around Thankgiving. I first went to SD long before a lot of guys on this board were born, 1967.
On another note if any of you guys go to Medellin Colombia one the owners of the Mansion and the Castillo, Robert a follow Puertorican from Chicago and a friend asks when I'm coming down I've yet to do that but it looks like its a fun time. I think he is tired of me not showing but I will someday
.....By the way in May which was my first trip in 11 years,......
Just curious but what changes did you see in Santo Domingo after being away for 11 years?
My first trip to Santo Domingo was 2006 and since then I really haven't noticed much of a change except for the Metro, a few new casas opening up, and the plaza on the malecon. Pacos is still Pacos (Grands), Villar Hnos is still the same, traffic is still a mess during rush hour, quite a few less chicas on El Conde. Other than that nothing really new in the last 4 years. Chica prices have gone down only because I have learned a little bit more than my first trip.
Do you liked Teleoferta? I saw the place once and was packed, it looks like fun there.
Saludos boricua!
Saludos tambien
Without your map I would have not figured out where it was at. I went there 3 times don't recall seeing any other Gringos but then again I wasn't looking and it gets crowded. I stick out like hell but no one even bothered. I do recommend going there if you like crowds and Latin dance music. Many chicas in groups, you can get lucky the first night one local told us, we did not but got cell # for the next trip.

Nice to have you posting Enricos. I bet you have some stories you can tell about SD. I too am one of the older members in this forum but I have no where near the number of years experience in SD as you.

I don't remember anything about the Metro even now but 11 years ago was the beginning of the reconstruction of 27th Feb. I was happy that to the majority of the people a tourist is still special the rest is what you have seen. Only problem is the young Dominican guys who got kicked out of NY can be problems although I've not had any as yet and hope I don't
I don't remember anything about the Metro even now...
Sorry, the Metro is the new subway in Santo Domingo which opened a little over a year ago. Since it opened 4 million, eight hundred and twenty seven zillion chicas ride the Metro every day. LOL Sometimes when I just want to kill some time I will take a ride on the Metro to one of the stops just to browse around. Put that on your to do list next trip.
The Metro has to be the biggest modern improvement in SD in many, many years.

Wow thanks for the tip.
I just want to say that we ISG members go there for our reasons, however not all the girls are putas although sometimes it may seem that way. In 1980 I married a Dominican, prior to our wedding we were chaperoned all the time up to the night before the ceremony. It only lasted a few years but it was my fault for the failure not hers. All her friends and relatives are in the same chaperoned situation although somewhat modified now.

You don't have to tell me. I get out and about in rep dom and I know there are some very, very nice chicas in that country. I was fooled my first few trips to rep dom because I started out in Sosua. I was told by other mongers the entire country was like Sosua. Little did I know they had never been anywhere else.
One day I just got tired of the Sosua scene and ventured out. Hitting Santo Domingo was one of the best things I have ever done. I enjoy myself in Santo Domingo doing non-puta chasing stuff as much and sometimes more than chasing the chicas.
One of the main reasons I like to post different things to do during down time is because Santo Domingo is a great city just to have a nice time.

An economic fact about the Metro: A trip cost 20 pesos (or a similar price); it cost the government 178 pesos per passenger to subsidize the cost of the Metro. Do the math: it cost less to the goverment to pay a taxi ride to any individual than to subsidize the metro.

I can answer your question, my first travel was in 1998. Cost of airfare from Puerto Rico was $69 round trip, it now costs over $200.
A taxi to the city was $25, now, thanks to the forum and my research work I pay $20.
The airport was ugly, no computers, no a/c, now it is relatively modern and confortable.
Chica cost has not changed, you can get the same range of prices that were quoted a dozen years ago.
Total taxes were 16% versus 26% today.
Beer prices has gone up because of taxes but you can still get cheap beer.
Elegant Center was the place to go on Pasteur, rooms on site, sex on massage tables, girls had to be careful not to fall to the floor. Very nice place. It is Sky High now. A little south to malecon was El Cisne. Lapsus has always been there, nice strip show on midnight, I do not know if they still do the show. 52 or Yellow house was almost in front of Jaguar Hotel. Cost was $40. Remington Palace, the place to go on mid 2000's, cost near $50, up to 4 hours, located near Isla Gas Station on Independencia. Casa Teresa, Pablitos (Azul), Modelos were there. Jaragua chicas were on the left area of Merengue bar, now are spread over the casino. Herminias , the most famous SD brothel ever was closed in 1998, Le Petit Chateau in malecon closed a decade ago. It was easier to find girls while walking by the malecon.
Lot of chimis and sandwich carts on malecon, cold cheap beer.
On year 2006 the sales of ham and cheese sandwiches, balloons and wooden parrots increased 1700%.

Forever linked.
B.O. that was a good one. LMAO.
One day in the future they are going to say"what happened to the Ham and cheeses guy and the one that had the shoe thrower'.

Come on now, I only bought one parrot. I can confirm the sandwiches and balloons increase in sales. LOL You need to be on stage with your comedy act.
I have seen the word chimis used before but my Spanish dictionary doesn't have a meaning. So xactly what is chimis?

Perhaps you could give the chicas a menu with specials, a Chimi is a Dominican hamburger, aka Chimichurri, Aunt Clara has a great recipe for them if you so
choose to expand the kitchen. According to Aunt Clara, the name was borrowed from The Argentinian sauce of the same name , but has nothing in common!
