In fact, I did gag on the sewer smell actually! However, am comparing Ghana to Kenya, not America. Apples to Apples. Aside from the sewers, I did not see a lot of paper trash on the ground as opposed to Kenya, where people proudly toss it on the ground, and where you will find whole trash heaps in the neighborhoods. I saw road crews working at night paving the street. No wild driving or overturned matatus in Ghana, or bodabodas on sidewalks almost running over pedestrians. Those little things mean a lot to me.

I also wrote about (in the previous posts again mind you) that in Accra, all I encountered were skanky hardcores from the surrounding countries, and even the Ghana women were overly westernized snobs or seemingly illiterate village girls, as opposed to the huge variety of Kenyan women available in Nairobi. West Africa has very little nightlife. Ghana over Cameroon by far. You can get by speaking English in Ghana. If you go out, its relatively cheap. However, most of Cameroon you will need to speak French except on the coast near Limbe which is English. The cost is unreasonably high in the clubs in Duala.

East Africa is better for nightlife. Still, just as in West Africa, its just as easy to meet someone and hard to rid yourself of her.
