If you like to play pool try a game with some of the in-house girls in bars like Stumble In or Hillary bars in Soi 4 in Bangkok. These girls are available for take-out but quality is just so-so. A lot of suspicious Farang deaths in Thailand are written off as suicide, even the body found in the canal with knife in his back. A lot of guys have gone off the top of buildings in Pattaya, known as the Pattaya Flying Club. One suspects that many of these guys were "assisted". True rates of crimes is not known. There are also pick pockets and scammers.

Just a day or two ago saw a fight break out in a caf on Soi 23. Reason not known, but a Farang was involved on at least one side. Did see a Thai girl pick up a solid wooden chair that she wanted to use to smash on a Farang. She appeared to be just someone wanting to join in. She was restrained by someone else. Possibly some were more concerned about damage to the property than to the Farang. Thais can go crazy and especially love to join in to kick some underdog that is already down and beaten. This is the "animal" personality found in some Thais.

You don't want to pick a fight in Thailand. You never know who will join in and how much it will escalate. Anyone looking for trouble will surely find it.

Is Thailand back to normal since the death of the King last year?

Many monger venues were quickly back to normal after the King catastrophe, although some girls did not work for a month.

Some places hardly changed at all. Crazy House may have stopped nude dancing for a day or two, not long. Those that have less risqu behavior than before are probably more influenced by the government trying to improve Bangkok's Image and threat of police raids.

Annies changed from sexy underwear to something else for a while, I heard, but reverted to underwear outfits recently, after a period of declining sales. In most of the western world I would never walk on a poorly lit street close to a red light precinct in the early hours of the morning. It's really asking for trouble.

I'm sure there are been bag snatchings and assaults in the vicinity of Soi 23, but I have never witnessed anything suspicious. No young men loitering. Not once in all the months spent staying on soi 23 and walking back and forth from Soi Cowboy in the dark.

There are still girls outside the oil massage places on soi 23 yelling 'helloooo' until 3 am.
