Your are just limited by the withdrawal limits of the ATM you go to. Which is a lot lower than the limit of your bank.

I get equivalent of USD 300 per withdrawal from an ATM in Colombia. The restriction can be your own account's overseas withdrawl limit, as well as the ATM's limit.

Hey guys, I'm planning on returning to CTG in November, my usual airlines has changed its flights. So I'm looking at Avianca. I would have to go thru Bogota, it would be DC to Bogota, then transfer to a domestic flight to CTG. The flight gets in around 9pm, how difficult / time consuming is the customs process there, I'm concerned about making the connecting flight. Avianca seems pretty strict about there carry-on policy (which is usually all I do) , so I'm assuming I need to get my checked bag In Bogota go thru customs, then re check my bag. Is it reasonable to think I can do that in 1 1/2 hrs. There is also another flight that leaves 45min later. Which may be a safer bet, or should I think of another itinerary completely.

Chris[/QUOTE]The new international terminal in Bogota is fantastic. You should have no problems making your flight to Cartagena within the 1 1/2 hour time frame. I am usually out the door with my bags within a half an hour when flying directly to Bogota from the States.

More than enough time. In fact if you miss the first one they'll automatically put you on the next.

By the time you get through immigration and get your bag and get outside to take the bus you might have 45 minutes left. You will have to wait for the free bus, then the domestic terminal is like the 4th stop on the bus route. Or you could always pay for a taxi to save you time. They will probably want 10K to take you to the Puente Aereo. There you would check in for your domestic flight and recheck your bag. Then go upstairs through security and to your gate.

I went through Bogota airport to by both Avianca and United / Copa Colombia to Medellin earlier this year, both times my checked luggage went directly to Medellin without customs at Bogota airport. With Avianca, you need to change terminal which is less than 5 minutes by taxi.

At least this was the situation 2 years ago. Otherwise one need to pick up the luggage in Bogota and check it in again for the domestic conncection flight or the international flight when you leave the country.

I stopped staying there a few years ago when it got to be out of my price range though.

It has to be claimed by you and brought through customs at your point of entry then rechecked.
