My anecdotal evidence is something I began to notice back in April. I spend about 63 hours every week driving, more if there are backups due to construction, accidents, weather, or people simply being lousy drivers. I have an excellent point of view into the cars that pass me by. For several years I've complained that cellphones have taken the fun out of driving. Before the smart phone, couples on road trips got bored, which often resulted in them finding ways to entertain themselves. I kept track one year and about once every 4 days some woman would flash her tits at me. Occasionally they'd flash pussy or ass. I've had them drive alongside me for miles, tits out and fingering. Couples would drive along with the woman giving head, even fucking, which was impressive. Add it all together and if I was driving, I was almost guaranteed to see at least some good, old-fashioned road head daily.

The current situation isn't boring me. It's affected my life somewhat, although not in a significant way. That's mainly because I'm self-supporting. Not just in the economic sense, but emotionally as well. I don't require outside validation. I've got several Colombianas who I talk to every day. Most of them will send me a picture or video. Back in March, before the shutdown, I wrote about the weakness of the US supply chain. Our systems have been deteriorating for decades. Part of the reason is profit. We've cut regulations across the board, not because the regulations are unnecessary, but because they cut into profits. We've weakened every wall that supports our economy, because immediate gratification is more important than sustainability. If not the coronavirus, it would be something else coming along. Droughts, wildfires, flooding, extreme weather, locusts. We've decimated our ability to withstand adversity.

Look at the meat processing fiasco. Meat processing facilities should have been the least affected by Coronavirus outbreaks. These are the people who are actually touching the food that you eat. Shouldn't they have already been wearing masks, gloves, tyvek suits and frequently sanitizing everything? That used to be required. I know, I've done it. 2 pairs of gloves, disposable coveralls, plastic shoe covers, facemask, eye protection and face shield. Not anymore. All those things cost money, so we got the USDA to eliminate most of the requirements. If all those employees were so quickly able to spread the disease at work, just imagine what you've been eating.

You've pointed out all the effects of shutdowns, without recognizing the pre-existing conditions. The countries you listed have all been dealing with these problems for years. We haven't tried to fix them. In most cases we've made them worse. Once everything is opened back up, we're still not going to try and fix the underlying problems. The next disease, the next typhoon, the next war and we'll be in the same place.

I'll ask this question again. Where were you on all these issues last year? 10 years ago? Where will you be on them next year? Have you been calling your Congressmen telling them to normalize relations with Venezuela? Or Cuba? Have you been asking them to strengthen regulations which we need to protect our supply chain? Have you called for increased support of UN efforts to eradicate poverty, disease and hunger? Have you called for the US to open up our borders to more refugees?

You're pointing out all of these issues to support your position, without actually being in favor (I assume) of doing what's needed to address the issues.

I enjoy your approach. It's an appeal to reason. However, it comes off as a campaign speech to me. It approaches the problem from one side and assumes one solution. Shake hands, kiss babies and sign a few autographs.

But there's another side of the problem. It's still too early for a definitive statement, but it appears we're about to surge off the charts. I'm certain you're smart enough to recognize the increase in cases isn't from increased testing. We're well below reaching a saturation point, even if we did 100% random testing. 100,000 new cases per day? 4,000 deaths per day? These are possibilities and potentially conservative numbers. Imagine those numbers if we open up all the schools. What happens to the numbers when you combine the flu season with a coronavirus outbreak that's out of control?

Like it or not, the US is headed for another shutdown and it's going to be much worse than the first one.

Data is provided by every state and territory health department, who get their data from count health departments, who get the data from the hospitals, doctors and labs.
