Istanbul is the place we picked to meet, because she can fly there without a visa. I just need to know if it will be okay as just a traveller.

A colleague of mine has been ripped off badly last night at Okyanus. Despite my warnings to him to stay away from the Aksaray scene, he reports that he took a taxi to Aksaray from the Taksim area, was taken to a "nice club", Okyanus, by the driver saying Bacardi and Serenda are closed by the Police. Although he was very cautious with what he ordered, he was presented a bill of $600, and was able to get away with 500 lire ($300) with "great help" by the driver who was with him all the time and spoke very good german (as you may guess what language my colleague spoke). He claims he drank 2 beers, the taxi guy drank a beer too and they talked to only 2 ladies who each asked for $200 for an hour at a nearby hotel and refused to come to his place. The taxi driver switched sides but played the negotiator role when there was a dispute over the bill.

This confirms my comments on Istanbul mongering scene being very dangerous.

Unfortunately the case where ever you go but some places are unbelievably bad like Istanbul. A reflection of the Turkish people and the Russian-Ukrainian combination is a recipe for being scammed. Had a similar experience everyone is a thief, taxi driver, shops, especially clubs. Would never go there again.

I made the mistake a few years ago and got badly ripped off. And I didn't even get any sex.
