Considering this is the "Bangkok" reports thread, I'm not sure why Saphan Kwai would be a great topic here, but I don't mind it and enjoy that as well. I do notice he started a separate thread for Saphan Kwai though as well. I also don't mind the guys teaching Thai or whatever other discussions either. If there were only where, who, what and how much posts, this forum would quickly die because it would be boring as hell and the long time posters would stop visiting.

I decided to start the evening off in Crazy horse. I just finished a steak at EL Gaucho's on 19 washed down with a glass of a so so house red. I think it was a Bordeaux. I would normally when a Bordeaux go for a Medoc and depending on the vintage preferably from the northern region. I still remember my pleasure at sharing a bottle of '61 Mouton Rothschild after closing a deal in Tokyo some years back.

I know its odd well maybe not but did you know there is no word as such in Thai for steak. I have sometimes heard a word used sounding like steak which I believe is spelled stek but rarely used and sounds like stay ek. I like my steak or stek LOL sook sook well done and I know beef in Thai is nuea pronounced noo ah.

I digress. I settled at CH into my favorite spot at the far end of the room not at the bar itself a little further back where I have a panoramic view of the goings on. I am not always able to get this spot but I got it this time and looked up and saw an amazing ass. I always feel the girls dancing with few exceptions lack sexiness in their movement when they are on stage but not this body no sir. I would describe it as a round but with a definite tending towards a V and a hip to thigh measuring I'm guessing. 7 to. 75. For years, I've seen so many farangs try to use online forums to teach other people Thai and for no other obvious reason than to try to come off as a more credible source of information. Given that Thai is such a tonal language, its practically useless to try and teach it via the written word especially if you're totally alien to it. It generally has to be heard and spoken from / with native speakers. There are also a lot of errors in what I generally see, mostly due to the misunderstanding of the cultural aspect of the language. This is the result of these guys mostly learning their Thai from sex workers who generally have very poor or informal Thai communication skills themselves. I also see a lot of guys attempting to pass of their Thai with google translate. Its usually quite obvious given that the way that app works doesn't translate well to Thai.

With that being said, I am of the opinion that learning Thai is a great way to maximize your experience when traveling to LOS. So much more opens up to you if you can communicate with the locals in their own tongue. It can be a completely different and amazing experience. I just recommend learning it from a local.

I agree the forum is becoming more and more of an outlet for talking about ourselves what we eat what we like than about sharing good intel.

I appreciate well written posts even when they there are not that informative but I have to say I use the ignore button for one or two members who I find too repetitive and self-indulgent. I have no doubt my contributions are similarly treated by some members.

I personally feel the great thing about the forum is its open to everybody within reason to say what they want a sort of digital Hyde Park speakers corner.

I would suggest though as we are ultimately all fellow mongers it would be nice if we always treated each other with respect and our differences of opinion were not personalized. LOL.

If we could all think "hey that's interesting, let's expand on that". Don't hit the reply button. Hit the back button and start that discussion in the lounge. The same audience who will read it and care (eg: the regulars/expats) in the reports section will surely find it in the lounge area. I think this should be about reports and asking questions about reports. And also asking questions about where is good now, as places that were good 2-3 months ago may be not so good now. I follow these forums myself to know where the hot girls are so I also read the reports for intell as well and often have to skip past discussion.

Isn't it? It was located in Bangkok the last time I went there a year or two ago.

I have been to the Rock Bar in Pratunam but it is mainly a venue for people interested in rock. It is more the style of a small concert venue were people concentrate on the music. I was there from 10 to 11 PM and left because it was in fact a bit boring! I do like rock music but I like a more electric vibe. The cover bands in Nana area and Soi cowboy are probably not at the same level as musicians but at least you have a more vibrant environment. Just my personal taste. Anyway, for mongering it is Soi Cowboy, Nana or Patpong. No need to explore other areas really. Easy to find your own special place to like in one of those area. They have not changed much since 2011 expect for prices. Nana is probably better now than in 2011 and Patpong has experienced a small comeback in recent years; more people there now than 4-5 years ago.

Nowadays, the area is more well known as a notable residential area along with Ari that are more comparable to Thong lor and Ekamai.

And yes the area is considered to be a part of Bangkok but since it's not Suhkumvit some may think it doesn't count.

I also created a separate thread because there are a lot of members who like to discuss the local scene and I feel that it warrants it's on thread. I will post highlights in the Bangkok thread and long discussions and tips will go in my user blog.

Two weeks ago I was in Crazy House. First visit, as usually I go first to Suzie Wong and find my companion there already.

It seems a little bit elitist to me that someone else should decide for me what is "interesting" or of value. While I may agree that some posts may not by definition completely fall in line with the title of the forum, many times I have found useful nuggets embedded in posts that are otherwise of little interests to me. I know and agree that all posts should adhere to the TOS for this forum and the forum owner has given guidelines of what is acceptable and not acceptable. I would also like to offer an alternative to trying to suggest that the forum be censored to fit your (or anyone else's) idea of "appropriate content", is that you use the block feature to weed out those individuals that do not meet your standards for posting, or just keep scrolling instead of wasting the time to read material for which you have little use. Of course that is just one person's perspective.
