nothing to worry about, really
I get your point, but I hope loud gringo-hords in RB-casas are rare. It's very few times that I've met other gringos when going to the Centro casas, exception is BA 85.
The RB-casas are aware of the need to run their business with caution. They never open the door without checking the spy-hole/take a look in their camera. If they don't like what they see they will not open.
The RB-buildings have cameras monitoring all floors, and security downstairs. That could be helpful if visitors don't behave well.
"So we agree not to publish the casa addresses anymore..." There are already so few members posting info on new casas. Creating that new rule would result in even less reports of new casas.
Except for BA85, the centro casas don't give the 'loud gringos' (or other loud, partying types) what they are looking for. They want a party atmosphere, bar where they can hang out, socialize, drink, BS with the girls, etc. The downtown places are about quick in and out, so to speak. And anyway, by the time the tourists get going for the day, it is getting late for the centro places. Haha. The facts speak for themselves. The info has been out there for a long time and there is no problem that I can see.
On the other hand, for those that are in centro and who enjoy this convenience, the updates are much appreciated. Otherwise, you have to walk around and hope some kid puts the right slip of paper in your hand because this is the only way to find them.
So, IMHO, thanks to Sperto and others and please continue. I would gladly add info but I have not found anything new. I did report once on one of the RB 156 casas being shut. Also, thought I had found a new one on Senador Dantas, but no, already on the list.
So, with all due respect, let's skip the elitist stuff. Eveyone will use this board to their benefit and if someone winds up in the wrong place for them, that will self correct. Either they will learn to fit in or they won't come back.
Just my point of view.
gringos in centro! Where are they?
i have not seen a loud gringo in a centro casa in over 2 weeks. there is no way that anybody should be trying to make it seem gringos are all over centro. most go to 4x4 and that is it.
in fact, few want to go to the centro, cheap casas anyway. also, most gringos who go to rio do not read this forum anyway, nor do those who do read it, do so religiously, so the chances of them reading the forum and noticing sperto's casa update is almost 0%.
most could care less anyway.
so those of you who want to keep your cheap casas to yourselves quit worrying about gringos.
when i am in the casas i notice that the brazilians are extremely loud and that is a fact.
i noticed two white guys, i think from germany based on their speech, and how they enjoyed the loud banter of the girls in the casa i was in. now how some gringos could come in there and be louder i do not know. my guess is that you all focus on gringos, stare at them and then you hear every word.
quit worrying about gringos and you will not see them. there are so few in rio now, it is really ridiculous to hear guys talking about how they are going to stop posting information so gringos can't get it. trust me i think some of you are exxagerating your importance to the rio sex scene!
and how do these guys rationalize their comments: "well, i will hide information so that loud gringos will not find out and then come to the casa and get it shut down by talking loud and dressing down because they do not know to dress up in a certain casa! "lol! lol!
these same guys would come on this forum and laugh at a gringo who gets dressed up and then gets robbed in centro. those few gringos who go to the rb casas are not poorly dressed but just not in the garb of the clients. we are still richer than most brazilians by far. no big deal.
worry about the brazilians breaking laws or not paying off the right people more than gringos people.
what about last year when they had all of those raids? why don't you all worry about that happening again rather than gringos?
actually, i know why!

One single rowdy guest can cause huge trouble

There is one important fact you are not aware of:
The Rio Branco Buildings have tenants with clout: 20 businesses per floor, 20 floors, 400 serious businesses who must be paying a hefty rent. Plus maybe 10 casas.
One single instance of a small group of rowdy people can call enough attention for neighbors to gang up and complain, trying to get the casa closed. And all payoff is not worth much, if a law office starts filing official complaints against a casa, adding isg and, well, gpguia printouts as proof.
It seems most Brazilians have an idea of how to behave in these buildings, and for some reason the typical low end crowd of the cheap casas does not stop over at RB. Or if they do, they instinctively feel they have to dress decently and behave.
I am really surprised they can stay open in these buildings. They must be giving a huge discount to guys working in the building (which of course would irritate their spouses and secretaries and might make them file complaints with police).
Brasil has changed so much
Rio is changing out of all recognition, as many punters have observed. The metro tickets for one thing. And the other big change, probably the only big change that I can say truly affects me, is that I can no longer really afford/justify those beautiful Mr Cat shoes. :D
Stick it out, I would say
Prosal,
Perhaps the increase in tourism will not be so bad. I beleive the increase will only occur in specific areas. There will still be untapped markets in Brazil. Do not give up yet!
When I go to Mexico after a few months in Brazil, I often do not session with any women; the contrast is that stark!
Perhaps you will find another suitable destination; I too remember the good old says when tickets from the US were $400, and the dollar was 4 to 1! Apartments could be had for US$35-40/night! We were doing 4 Copa girls a day!
I am thinking of trying Bahia.
