I basically agree. The categories make a good point.
Dominican guys do pay for it though- even net. Other than the Chulos and barrio guys who don't have much spare cash, middle class dominican guys pay for it all the time - though not much in the tourist towns, why should they pay more? Not counting secretaries, favoritas and novias - they pay up to about 500. They even pay salida. Most small pueblos have discos tipico that have lots of chicas who are techically waitresses on very low wages but who are there to dance and hang out with customers and more rarely go out with them (salida is the fee paid to compensate the bar for the loss of the employee for the rest of her shift).
P4P is an integral part of the culture, not just a tourista thing.

The trip takes 4.5 hours with a stop in Puerto Plata and Santiago. Bring a jacket or wear long sleeves! That bus is cold enough to keep raw meat fresh !! Caribe tours is on the main road just outside of Charamicos burrio. I don't know their rates, i always use Metro from advice from my Dominican friends.[/QUOTE]Metro Bus stop in Sosua, when leaving Classicos make a left, walk to the corner, you will walk past el flow bar and on the corner there will be another bar and across the street, there will be a large jewelry store (I believe it is called harrisons jewelry), at that corner make a right and walk up the hill. You will see an open space for parked cars to your right and further to the right a Texaco gas station. In front of the open area for parked cars, there is a pharmacy, inside the pharmacy is where you buy the tickets for Metro Bus.
Caribe Tours bus station is in Charamicos section of Sosua on the other side of Sosua Beach.
Rocky's and hotel orchidee, have inexpensive rooms, prices last time I checked were about $25 per night, these prices may have gone up, hotel orchidee (I believe it is german owned) has a webpage and you can call Marco who owns Rockys (he is Canadian and speaks English) to inquire about prices and availability. Both of these places are very close to the action (about one block from classicos) and are adequate to use for sex, since you will be staying in an AI, you can leave your valuables in the AI hotel. Hotel Calypso is a cheapy short term hotel, about 3-4 blocks from classicos. I used Hotel Calypso one time about 5 years ago, no toilet paper, no towels, condom wrappers on the floor. Other members have used it more recently and said it was clean.

Has anyone had any luck with the barrista Sandra at the bar below Classico's? How have your attempts turned out? Is she available (freely or with some work)? I've talked to her a few times and she seems cool, but I never swooped in for the kill. She kinda seems like she isn't into P4P, but of course, someone will say they all are. Just looking for any experiences/advice on this one; I'm thinking of making her my project for my next trip.

I use Carribe Tours not to long back. It was 120p to Santiago and 320p to santa domingo. It stopped in Puertaplata, Imbert, Santiago, La Vega, and 4 stops in Santa domingo. In La vega some venders will board the bus to sell you food and things. The buses are frickin cold! I had this bueatiful chica going to santiago next to me. I fell asleep and woke to find her snuggled up next to me!

It states the prices are per night, in which case its out of date for quality girls, prices have gone up even for experienced mongers with spanish.

The darker skinned more traditionally african looking Haitian girls (the majority of girls in Sosua are dark skinned) accept less, but they will steal anything they can from you so beware. Many guys have been robbed. And don't give them your phone numbers unless you want them to call you 50 times a day and hangup each time because ofcourse they don't want to pay for the call. Never ever pay them a peso before you've got what you agreed, because DR chicas will make an excuse and leave quickly if you do. I was ripped off in Santo Domingo by a girl called Giselle from La Parada where you pay beforehand 3k to the establishment. She was from Santiago fair skinned, quite tall, wears a lot of makeup, speaks good english, the best looking one there, then when I got to the hotel she had a menu price list for just about everything, I ended up kicking her out of my hotel, learnt my lesson. I've had a few girls insist on getting paid beforehand after you or she have started undressing in Sosua. I simply say no, I never pay before hand, 'tienes prisa? ' (are you in a hurry is that why you want to pay before hand, 'Me no gusta Rapido', I don't like to be rushed). If they insist further I'll even get up and get dressed repeating the words above and pretending I don't understand any other spanish. Eventually they will agree to be paid after, and will therefore make more of an effort too, because they understand how stubborn you are. You could ofcourse tell them before taking them back that you only pay after. Remeber, you can always walk away from chicas here, don't act desperate, there are plenty more fish in the sea, and even the same chicas you will see again in the same establishments the next day. Don't believe them if they say they're only here for 1 day. Infact best policy is to not believe anything they say at all, because they're all actresses.

If so, she was working at Sosúa Life three years back and since then at the Merengue Bar.
Yes, she goes for money but I think picks and chooses with whom, and for a sizable fee.
She was the first chica I ever spoke to in Sosúa. I was taken into town from Field of Dreams by a bullshitter (nice guy, but a total bullshitter) who told me she was in love with him and would go with him for nothing when her shift ended. I was a newbie and believed him! Events later that evening proved him wrong. Cool elegant lady who has greeted me politely every time I am in town ever since. Never had her myself but I have seen her go with with a few guys.
You want more lighter skin chicas who have that novela type look go to CR, Panama, Colombia, or Brasil thats what I do. It is very rare you will find that type of look in DR selling that ass unlike these other countrys I mentioned where most of the chicas/garotas in these countrys have that type of look I look when I monger. I don't believe the racist spin about Haitians which is current among Dominicans and which visiting gringos swallow wholesale. In the block of condos where I live most of the guys prefer Haitians as being somewhat more honest, whether it is chicas for sex or guys for working around the place. These are gringos with decades of experience of living there, not weekend warriors who speak neither Spanish nor Kreyol. I am not suggesting there is much difference, of course. You need to keep alert with both nationalities and also with ex-pat gringos.
Remember that every crime or act of dishonesty where the offender is not caught red-handed is always blamed on Haitians and the police will indiscrimately round up and sometimes punish innocent Haitians for them. It saves them the trouble of doing any real police work and avoids offending the real criminals and their families which could start a vendetta.
The majority of dark-skinned girls in Sosúa are Dominican, not Haitian, and there are also some lighter-skinned Haitians who everybody wrongly assumes are Dominican.
Unlike londonsoul, if a chica asks too much, or for money up front, I end the deal there and then. There are dozens more in line who are prepared to play the game right. I would rather give them the business.
