I am happy to hear that on Sep 21 some international flights to Colombia will resume, from LA and even from USA, but where is it written that foreign citizens will be allowed to enter Colombia? And to what purpose?

There is a number of people who really need such flights, beginning with Colombia citizens stuck abroad or foreign citizens stuck in Colombia who desperately want to go back home, but regular travellers for tourism are not allowed.

The last official announcement from the Ministerio was made at the end of August (Decreto 1168 del 25 de agosto de 2020) and stated that borders will be kept closed at least until 1st October.

FYI, some flights between Bogota / Cartagena and Europe (Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid, London) have been scheduled already from 15 to 30 September, to serve those in need of "essential travel". This does not mean that I can board and go to Colombia.

Certainly, I wish you will succeed, but I am really curious to know how do you plan to ask the authorization to travel, what kind of "essential travel" could be mentioned to Embassy.

I have not seen ANY information where tourists are not allowed. Again, show me the links to back up what you are saying. The articles I have read says the government is opening up beaches for tourism and discouraging vendors from bugging beach patrons. That is a move that seems squarely aimed at pleasing tourists.

During that ban, I have been to Mexico 8 or so times. Still, I have not seen that phrasing used with the USA and Colombia. Please post links that says that travel to Colombia has to be essential after September 21.

It is not that Corona is a hoax. Corona being spread is a huge issue at construction sites, meat packing plants, prisons, and among families. The hoax is where it is not spreading and commonly thought to be: restaurants, bars, airplanes, hair salons.

Someone posted restricting movement was the key to stopping Corona. If that is the case, then why is corona such a huge issue in nursing homes and prisons?

I am not here to debate Corona. I was just wishing that Colombian health authorities saw through the BS, and they have. Banning international travel did nothing for Colombia except hurt its economy. They are doing the CYA political thing with their mask policy and requiring a negative Covid test. Someone posted in the Bogota forum that businesses were screaming at the Bogota mayor to open up the airport for travel, and she has backed way, way down.

For example, foreigners are not the same as tourists. The international flight resume this month, that is clear. They also said something like tourists will be allowed in October. Does that mean tourists are not allowed in September? I don't have the link. I am just describing why it is confusing.

They were both around $150 and I booked the Spirit ticket just two days ago, and it let me book it from FLL but not other cities. The CTG flights were in the $400+ range, so I passed on them even though it seems CTG seems the most receptive to international flights right now.

One of my chicas wanted to go from Barranquilla to Medellin. She was scared of my booking her on Viva air due to frequent cancellations but it was the cheapest and only direct flight to MDE (there was one to EOH? In Medellin), and she got on the plane and to MDE no problem. That tells me the airports are functional now.

I tried to fill out but I could not as of yet. I take that to mean Colombian officials do not expect a lot of tourists given how few flights there are not that tourists are banned from going. We shall see.

I know the airline doesn't represent the official authority, but it is looking good. The proper term for permission to enter a country is called a visa, with a US passport, you don't need a visa to enter Colombia. As far as I know, they have not changed this.

Man, what would it take to convince people that I placed the right bet? In the scientific world we have a say, when you first propose an idea, people will immediately say you are wrong, then after some facts indicating you are likely to be correct, people will say its trivial, finally, when all the facts confirmed you are completely correct, people will say you are not the first one who come up with the idea.

We shall see.[/QUOTE]Like many BM have said multiple times, there are a ton of much more dangerous things with much higher likelihood of occurrence associated with mongering. Worrying about getting Covid while mongering is like a solider worrying about getting hit by lightning while dodging bullets on the battlefield.

Disclaimer, I'm in my 30's and very healthy; I run marathons and I get the flu once every five years (I never take the flu shot), so the chance of me having a serious reaction from covid is very low, it's a waste of time to worry about it. I will do my best to respect the safety protocols laid out by the officials, I will not actively trying to spread Covid by hosting or participating in large gatherings. But I will continue mongering, people who worry about to getting infected from mongering should stop monger.

COPA sent me a notification that flights would be resuming into Medellin on October 12 and I have been looking at flights. I also decided to see what Avianca had available, and no flights from the USA to Colombia as of yet.

So this is all peculiar in that only Spirit is the way into the Country for the time being? And Spirit of course does fly into Medellin. Almost sounds political somehow with CTG being the first gateway City into the Country. Or perhaps it's because of the higher tourism there.

As far as tourists versus foreigners being allowed into the Country, I highly doubt migracion is going to barring anyone with the PCR test and requisite paperwork on the first "commercial flight" back into the Country. And the airlines will not be allowing any one to board unless all the required paperwork is in order.

So we will all just have to wait until the 21st for the BM's booked on this flight to report back. I suspect we may all be making a mountain out of a mole hill on all this as it's just more paperwork, etc. To travel besides all the security stuff.

New Life is opened, apparently has been since the 31st of last month. One of you is supposed to wear a facemask all the time! They do request that you shower, which is a good idea anyway. Rates are the same as before the shutdown.

But Mr. E, seriously, you have been around long enough to know that there are reasons why some of these girls do not graduate on time. Maybe they started late. As for me, I could get COVID here or there. I try to be careful, but there is no guarantee. But while I am cautious, I am not going to be like some who are paralyzed with fear (e. G. , Howard Stearn). I do not want to live life this way. I stand as much chance of getting COVID from one of my students at the university as with a Colombiana I know well. At least in my opinion.
