Qualifier / Note: Do not read me for current economic information. (I have not been active in BKK for about 10 years).

Thermae. Things have changed from your reports, not unexpected. Facts from my stay in BKK: $1000 Baht was the rate ST / LT. There were obvious exceptions, but one K in my day was the norm. That said, paying more did happen in the morning for whatever reason. My advertised norm was how I negotiated (I really hate that word, but it is what it is too).

But you can negotiate without making it look like a negotiation. Look on the bright side anytime. All she can say is no.

Maybe there is a deeper point. Let me think on that. In the meantime, here is a pretty funny story. At least it is to me.

First time alone on Sukhumvit, circa 2002.

It's hot and I've been meeting many people in BKK I'd met on ICQ. Yeah, they were all women, duh.

I'd said goodbye to the last one for the day and waved as the Skye Train departed. A long day (three or four days really).

Walked down the stairs from the Skye Train and decided to explore on my own. Walked a bit, realized I was getting hot, and sat down on some steps.

Within minutes a girl sits down and propositions me. I had no idea at the time, but I was sitting on the Thermae steps. I declined and moved on down the road.

After the food, she wanted to walk some more, I was quite OK with the idea, so we walked.

She was a clever girl, asking a couple of personal questions that made you want to answer, followed up with where you stay?

Since I knew we were getting close to where I stayed, I knew I had to make a choice or not. On cue, she asked where I stayed when we were about 50 meters from the place, so I pointed and said, I stay there.

What follows is obvious (Summary):

Came three times.

First time from sex.

Second time from be. J.

Third time from sex.

In between was full of listening to her life story:

1) a kid.

2) a divorce.

3) Mom takes care of kid while she is working.

I called her out on this the next morning and was shocked when she said OK.

She took me to her apartment somewhere between Soi 30-50, and there it was, the kid and her mom taking care of her child.

Now here is the exception to the rule I mentioned.

It was time for me to leave and she saw me out the door. This is the first time we ever talked money.

She looked at me and said, "you come three times all night. ".

I looked in my wallet and there was 5 one thousand Baht notes. I kept one and gave her four. I've always wished I'd given her five.

So there ya go, scrutinize my story until you're done.

I can neither confirm nor deny that most times, I was a normal punter, paying as little as possible.

And I am thinking, you would not believe me anyway. . . .

Variables that go into FL pricing.

Financial position of the girl.

How badly does she need money, If she is flush she may stick with say 4000ST and go home if she doesn't connect while on another night the same girl with 200 baht to her name will gladly accept half that rather than go home empty.

The time of the evening.

She may leave home at 8 o'clock with expectations / hopes that she can make x amount for the evening but when the clock strikes 1 half of that becomes acceptable.

Venue.

Take 2 girls with similar looks and equally good in the sack, one lounging in Spasso sipping wine one standing on Soi 4. One costs 5000 the other will do short time for a 1000. No comparison I hear you say. From experience I can tell you quite often back in the room when they get their kit off you will not see that much difference. I agree there is a correlation between price and looks / service but where you meet the girl greatly affects the price.

Experience.

The more experienced girls will choose where and how they work to maximize earnings and will not sell themselves short. Relative newcomers not totally up to speed will initially be willing to spend time with you for less.

Peer Pressure.

Agreed it's not a hard and fast rule but there will be an unspoken yet tacit understanding when working a particular venue say Thermae that girls will not routinely accept offers below a certain level E. G. 2500 believing doing so brings prices down overall.

Profile of customer.

Yes it matters how you behave, how you look, dress, smell, how naive the girl believes you are and whether or not there is that illusive chemistry going on. I also believe it matters a lot whether you are passing through or living here.

You can argue about how much but no doubt FL prices have risen over the years especially at the so called Hi end. That said 2500 will still get you 2 hours and 4000 a LT session with an above average looker and for me at least assuming acceptable service that's good value.

Yes, there are lots of factors. In fact, the more oily places that opened the worse service for the punter has become. Competition for gals between shops for gals meant performance standards were relaxed in order to retain gals and punters here are just not demanding enough to complain or walk. More money tends to get you better looks, not better service. I'll stick by my mantra that Thai gals are just not that into sex and especially not into kink or fetish. Most all gals here want to raise there status. On their lakorns (Thai soap operas) many of the leading roles portray women who are pretty but very much asexual, or use sex only as a means to get what they want. The lusty gal who enjoys sex is still viewed as a "bad girl" or one of lower status. With the insane amounts of money (and yes it is insane money for this country) some BGs make now they imagine themselves of higher status. Well, you get the point.

I live in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and it is the same thing here. There are girls who request an insane price (over $250 USD / hour) for a fuck while others charge $80. The $250 will get you an absolute stunner but the service is "average" or worse while the $80 will get you an older gal who gives one of the best BBBJCIM I have ever had.

Because businesses have no problem lowering prices and this manifests itself mainly when dealing with locals one on one, it makes me think it's all wrapped together in all of what you mentioned. I have talked to some ladies that were funny and had great personalities and I would bang in a minute what ever they charged.
