Is there another bar similar to Bangkok Beat around the Soi7/1 area?
I had some great nights in there, without breaking the bank as well, when I was going to the toilet once a girl stopped me with the "Remember Me?
She actually did, giving me the details where I was staying before etc. That was it, I was toast.
I like the freelancer / live music bars, just reminded me there was Country Road down the tunnel and once again I had some good times at Country Road, Soi Cowboy.
So much of this makes no sense it is hard to unpack it all:
US wages have gone down? USD buying power is down 75%? On what planet?
The Thai bar girl gets paid in baht. The USD / TBH relationship ie "she now needs" is irrational thinking.
The average wage in Thailand is 300 baht per day, or 1,500 baht per week. So your whole "pretty girls / suck" rap makes no sense as they already make more than 1/4 months salary for 1 short time session.
I could go on but even trying to logically relate to such nonsense is giving me a headache. Hope you are not an economist or financial advisor by trade.
SL.
Yes down about 75% to thai people. 15 years ago 100 USD bought a lot more overseas than or does now. Thailand does not have static wages. People won't work for peanuts like in the USA.
Average thai wage is not 8k a month. Low end wages yeah. For a decent life you need 120k, more than meant Americans earn ! Asia is growing the tide is turning.

Yes, average starting wage is not longer 8 k, but Thais still hit a ceiling very quickly. Average salaries for in the US are higher. And people will work for peanuts here compared to the US. Driving factor in Bangkok is not labor cost; it's commercial rents, which are completely out of control especially when compared to residential rents. But, yes you are correct about the dollar, and it is more expensive for Americans, but that has little to do with salaries and more to do with the weakness of the dollar which was 40+ when I moved over. As stated before, it is double the cost to live here in comparison to 20 years ago. If the Baht was still over 40, then that multiple would be less.

No offense but can this forum seriously not grasp the concept of opportunity cosy and compound interest? Thai wages on average increased by 5. 8% a year which means rates for girls need to go up by be atleast that much or girls will start to do something else as being a hooker seems less and less attractive. That is why you only see ugly dogs on soi 6. All I'm saying is the rates in gogo for the hot young ones are not unreasonable given the costs in thailand.
GAll I'm saying is the rates in gogo for the hot young ones are not unreasonable given the costs in thailand.
3500 baht (including bar fine) for ST doesn't sound all that reasonable for a Thai girl to me given that I can have a hot European chick with amazing service for only 100 Euros for ST in Germany (or for just 50 Euros for half hour if I want to merely audition the girl). Granted LT is a different story, but for ST, it just doesn't seem reasonable to me at all that Thai girls are charging almost as much as Western girls in the P4 P capital of Europe. I mean, it used to be that Thai girls were way cheaper than Western girls for ST, but this doesn't seem to be the case anymore, at least as far as the hotter gogo girls are concerned.

Depends on your tastes. Imo talent in FKK land was very weak for my 2 week trip there in May. I'll take one of my top gogo girls, some of which are half euro half Thai, over the girls I saw in Germany recently. Germany is not the same as it was 4 or 5 years ago. Lots of average girls. You're also assuming st with a gogo girl is 1 hour which it definitely isn't if you are fun to hang out with.

SL.
The minimum wage is 300 baht not the average wage. In reality the 300 baht minimum operates outside Bangkok, within the city it is closer to 400, still incredible low.
On average a masseuse not delivering special service clocking up 80 to 100 hours can expect with tips around 15000 a month. With specials depending on her own popularity and the popularity of the shop her earnings will be 25000 up. Some so called star performers are in the 100,000 plus league.
On what you pay for service here and whether it is good value and competitive with other countries in my opinion yes it is. That said if you use go go's or Hi end clubs to find your partner you are paying way more than you have to but even at 3500 for a good looking young go go girl who delivers on service that's still not outrageously expensive and no I am not an economist. Hope your headache is better.

ST is about 2 hours and includes CIM. On my last trip the FKK clubs were "meh". Thai girls are softer, sweeter and give better service and are more girl next door types. Like how Samya used to be but better.
Try getting BBBJ CIM 2 hour OUTCALL off a western girl for under $100.
I'll enjoy my thai princesses at market rates thanks very much and they are little sweet hearts; my heart melts.
If you think you can get equally attractive ladies cheaper; please tell what what platform? Was not impressed with smooci.

That's it. For an eight hour plus shift. In 2008 the average wage in BKK was a little over 8 k. Now it is about 13.5 k and had fallen a bit recently. It has doubled since 2001 when the average wage was a little over 6 k. So yes, a GoGo gal who gets 3500 Baht a pop is making way above what most Thai MBAs make presently, so the cashier reference just does not hold water. Even at 2000 Baht a pop they are making out like bandits for very little time and effort. Sorry, they are not going to go work as a cashier for 500 Baht a day. Prices for P4 P in Thailand are way out of whack when you look at what folks earn. Sorry, but that is the truth. Compare with places like Travel in Jakarta where ST is the equivalent of 1 k Baht and attitudes are far better. Mainly due to fishing in the same pond as demanding locals. Here the "market" is determined mainly by two week millionaires not residents. Especially in the GoGos. Cowboy used to be an expat haunt. Not anymore. Now, it's Disneyland, with Disneyland prices and all that goes along with it. So no, it has very little to do with the local economy. If you will notice prices at Soapies, which cater to a lot of locals, has not changed much at all in the last 15 years. There you have your answer.

I guess I just see the girls as fellow humans rather than slaves. Sure; I will treat them like a piece of meat in the bedroom but after that I have nothing but respect and would hate to see them make only 1. 5 k for a night of getting fucked hard by an ugly old man.

Asia is growing the tide is turning.
Thailand is a developing nation, prices are rising faster than inflation for services (wages). Meaning, prices of everything is always rising due to inflation, in every country. But in Thailand, wages are rising outside of inflation alone, as they are developing into a more robust economy, and away from simple slavery style work (farming, sewing, manual product assembly). If you want good dollar value, I have heard that Laos girls do FS for about as low as $5/ hour. I am being serious. There are cheaper areas, but Thailand is a developing nation. Third world prices are history, just as their poverty status is history. You want third world pricing, don't come to Thailand. It's only getting more expensive. Also, as the rest of Asia and other markets develop, that means more tourists with money who are not Americans / etc. That already has an obvious effect on prices. And with the female shortage in China, combined with their rising middle class, I wouldn't look toward Thailand as a place to secure cheap pussy well into the next 1-2 decades.

Similar set up as the Pattaya Beer Garden. Seemed like a good set up and far enough removed from Nana Plaza.

Even 120 K Baht a month would not go far in most US cities that were desirable to live in. Might do ok in Tulsa or Birmingham, but any coastal city or even Austin or Denver? Forget it.
And personally I don't ever treat them like a piece of meat. All night? Sure that is worth more than 1. 5 K, but for a ST that is probably going to be way less than an hour, if the gal has any say, it's a pretty good rate of pay.
