Can be detected as early as 2 weeks I previously read, but not guaranteed. I just read that antigen and antibody tests for HIV are very quick but far from a clean bill of health conclusive.

PCR and NAAT tests seem to take longer up to 10 days to get the result, but can detect HIV within 2 weeks of exposure or less. Not 3 months.

So seems like for those wanting a clean bill of health, forget the antigen / antibody test where a negative means so little. This test is more designed for someone who got HIV recently to find out quick and start treatments prophylaxis etc. However the negative result from these means not so much.

So good that the Red Cross Clinic is doing the follow up NAAT test to give a more definite result, to make the worried person confident in the Negative.

Obviously I am no expert on the topic. Just interested in the research. I have a girl who wants to see my clean bill of health Guarantee. So I will be getting either the PCR or NAAT test.
