indeed it's a mind opening issue for me relating to the consent age for sexual activities in various countries , which i found out thanks to j.a. and kl. i' should be more cautious in writing the next time.

does this means i can go for a 16 years old ( age of consent allowed by indonesian law ) , then write it as 61 in this thread ? :-)

This time I stayed at the Sheraton on Gudung Sahari, northern JKT. A little research reviled that the hotel next door, Orchardz Hotel, had a very promising spa. So yesterday I decided to sample it.

After being given the bracelet/locker key I proceeded to the spa section. It contains of two pools, some gym equipment, and a dry sauna. Relaxed in the hot pool for a while, end then went for a shower. The next station is the theater room which actually is a lounge including the GRO desk. She informed about the available packages, and I opted for the 'Butterfly all in' one. It consists of body massage, cat bath and FJ for 90 minutes in a VVIP room.

Your masseuse is selected by the booking girl. For some this may be an issue, but usually they know which girls that are comfortable in serving non-Indonesians and I usually go with their recommendation. If you want slim/skinny women go where they hate western(food) like Thailand ( a thai will eat thai even when they are abroad) or go to poor cities without money and keep your wallet closed as much as possible to keep them like that. Take them (skinny) to the Disco instead of to the restaurant too.

Was at Blok M last week and went over along the whole alley and walked into all the bars for a quick check. It was a Wed night ! Top Gun was full to the brim but D' place was literary DEAD ! However , the one beside D Place ( forgot the name ) was booming with activities, split over from Top Gun, i presume as familiar faces appearing at both places . !

Back in Jakarta after a (too) long period of absence, I took off to Kartika on my first free minute.

I visited Stadium 2 nights when I was there recently. A word of warning, on Sunday night/Monday morning it was packed and twice someone attempted to pick my bag which only contained some simple stuff. Thanks for your post. What you described is not normal behavior at Kartika, and the tip amount has definitely not gone up to 200,000 rupiah! My guess is that you ended up with one of the few bad/greedy girls working there, who must have been having a bad day or severe financial pressures in her life.

Whenever a situation like this happens, don't be afraid to complain to the mamasan (as you did) - they will usually do their best to fix the situation. I've visited Kartika at least 70 or 80 times over the last five years, and only had one experience as bad as yours. I immediately complained to the mamasan and they waived the room fee on the spot, without my even asking. Not only that, when I came back 5 days later, I learned that that particular girl was no longer working there, that Kartika management had fired her. I'm not sure if that was a direct result of my complaint, or if several customers had complained, but the bottom line is that no place will put up with girls who hurt business.

Thanks for the info KLG .. however I'm glad that Iyma came clean without any mentioning of drugs or even drinks ! The $ deal was negotiated upfront which was " anything - up to u ". I liked it but didn't want to be cheapskate so i pressed for a figure. I' gave her the higher of the 50K or 100K , which was what she normally gets from her clientele.

Looks like I will use the " Black ant " the next time and pay her double !

It's been a long time since I've been to Jakarta and after some recent bad times overall in my life I decided to take a break in Jakarta. Took the KLM flight to Jak coz I wanted to try the Boeing 777-300 planes that I've heard so much. Nice & simple journey and indeed big difference between planes of AirAsia and KLM, comfort and service, in my case was worth every rupiah coz the flight fare @ RM370 was cheaper than AA for last minute flight booking. Glad I booked KLM coz last minute I had a meeting rescheduled and even though I had check in online, I was lucky enough to change th flight with a normal fee of RM100 @ USD29, now no way are you going to get your $ back when your flight leaves in 8 hours from AA!

As I tried to stay in few apartments but after the bombing most apartments have had their apartments rental price raised and since I have corporate rate at the new Akmani Hotel right in the middle of town I said why not? This was to be my humble abode for the next 8 days and a good & strategic place to stay!

Hi Guys,

I live in Singapore but have a chance to get to Jakarta in two weeks time. I've RTFF and have found some great information but I have a question. I may be in Jakarta during the Hari Raya Haji holiday. Will that impact mongering over that weekend? I would get there on the Wednesday before and leave on the Saturday or Sunday and would definitely be looking for some fun playmates during that time. Short answer, yes.

HR Idul Adha is a mini Idul Fitri and has a tendency to screw up plans as it is not widely known about. The bars will shut early on Thursday night (by early I mean about 8 or 9 pm so to all intents and purposes they needn't bother opening) all the bars will be shut on Friday with business as usual resuming on Saturday. This would appear to wipe out a sizeable chunk of your trip, my suggestion would be to work the phones now to line up any old contacts you may have or to collect as many numbers as possible on Wednesday night with promises to call them during the shut down. It's not like Idul Fitri where the girls leave town, they will be around but somewhat harder to locate.

I was pleased to meet my two friends from this forum on my recent trip - you know who you are!

Worth reporting is our visit to Atrium: I think it was a Sunday evening and Monday evening around 7pm. Both occasions, unlike my last trip were hopeless. On Sunday, in over around an hour, I "found" around 6 or 7 girls/women but they were completely unacceptable bar one who was very marginal.
