Sanur is quiet and peaceful. You can lay on the beach and on a clear day see Lombok.

But agree with 1Ball in the Bali posts, if you are under 30 stay in Kuta, over 30 and like to see the island and get layed everyday without the club thing
then Sanur.

Kuta and Seminyak are traffic nightmares, hucksters always hitting you up for everything you don't need, shitty overpriced food and a dirty beach.

I was in Gili Trawangan in late June this year.

It was billed in some British magazine as the "new" Ibiza.

I thought it was plain awful.

Hey guys, I’ve been reading this forum and it’s been of great help since I’ve been in Yogyakarta for 5 full days – so I’ve decided to sign up and share my trip report.

First of all special thanks to Exit93 for posting his detailed report, it was like a Bible to me.

Ok so I had been traveling for two months when I got to Yogyakarta and except a handjob massage in Hong Kong and a boring blow-massage in Vietnam I didn’t get any action. As I dropped off the bus in Sosrowijayan district, on Malioboro st. – I was immediately friends with this local guy who said he’s a ‘walker’ – lol. Anyway, I checked into Badok Hotel, on Sosrowijayan st. – great place, perfect English, tasty food, swimming pool, generous rooms for just 110k rupiah (11EUR). As you know, this is the ‘backpacker’ area of Yogyakarta and also the red light district. Guess what – not on Ramadan it isn’t! This local guide/buddy told me that the ‘pussy market’ is right around the corner and you can get a blow’n’fuck for 100k rupiah. So with this in mind, first evening I set off in search of the pussy market.

Just 30 meters down the street there’s the infamous Lucifer bar about which I had read online, known for hookers. Outside sat a couple of guys and two extremely hot chicks, so I decide to go inside for a drink. The place was completely deserted, because of Ramadan – not a single soul. Still, one of the chicks came to me and took my order, brought me my drink and then just sat at my table. I was thinking ‘oh yes, I get to fuck her? Wow!’. So she starts talking and we chat about all kinds of shit, I compliment her on her looks, etc. She pulls out a laptop and starts showing me pictures of her, adds me on facebook, etc. Her name is Danny – but she didn’t fuck for cash – or at least not now. I made a subtle proposition, but then she said she’s working and would rather go to a club with me later. From what I’ve read, I know these girls usually use you to pay for everything, get you super teased & stuff and then ask for ridiculous amounts of money for a fuck. This guy was trying to rip me off – I knew from my guide/buddy the local rate is 100k. ‘Hey man I’m a student here in Yogya, I know the prices, don’t try to rip me off, I’m not a tourist’ ‘350k, no less because Ramadan, nowhere else you can find’ Great. ‘150k is all I have – c’mon, it’s not like I’ll be fucking you, I’m a student’. He wouldn’t have it, so I kept walking and he was right, there were no other places ‘open for business’. According to the international rules of bargaining, when you turn your back and make your first step towards leaving the seller shouts a lower price – this guy was stone cold! Apparently when you get to the Muslim version of hell it can get pretty nasty if you fuck for money during Ramadan, lol.

On Jl. Pasar Kembang there are some old ugly hags every now and then offering ‘massage’ but they’re so ugly I wouldn’t touch them if they paid me.
So disappointed I headed back to the hotel where I met with my guide/buddy. I told him about my evening and he said he’ll take me and get me a good price. Hopped on his motorbike and guess what? He rode us to the exact same place where the pimp was trying to rip me off. They talked for a bit and then he said ‘ok, ok – 300k for you, but you have to pay to him, now, best I can do.’ Hmm, so I wouldn’t get to see the girls beforehand, this could be risky maybe I’ll end up with a room full of old hags. But I was so horny I would’ve fucked a hole in the wall, so I asked to see the fishbowl. There were about 8 girls out of which two were young but not that pretty, maybe 6.5/10. For this kind of money I was expecting something nicer and although I would’ve gone Peter North on one of them, I could think of 10 different places where I could spend my hard earned currency, starting with Mickey D’s. Second day at the hotel I woke up and took a swim in the pool where I hooked up with a German chick, Elsa. She was traveling with another girl – there are a lot of girls traveling in pairs of two in Yogyakarta. You have to be careful at their English knowledge level and adjust your jokes/conversation to it so they can follow. At one point it’s a sure thing that they won’t follow the entire sentence you’re saying and they’ll grow frustrated, which is natural. So there are two possible scenarios – they’ll either jump you and you’ll get a fuck, so she can show you what she’s capable of (fuck your English, I’ll show you!), OR she can put an end to it and blow you away if she feels too frustrated/underestimated.

I wasn't so lucky when I stayed in Yogyakarta for couple of nights back in April. I was desperate to get out of Jakarta and had a local young lady willing to show me around. Use the search function on the blue bar directly under the welcome back Offshore Swell greeting at top right, and dial in Manado. On the right side of the search page is a section "search in forums" dial in Indonesia, and make sure that the search in sub forums box is ticked. You will get quite a few hits.

Confusingly, there are a number of recent reports about Manado in the Bali thread.

I went back to Gang 3 today, after yesterday's poor but very inexpensive experience, to see if things might be better at another time. They were. I have not read many reports on Tuk Tuk in Sumatra so I thought I might add one. I was there recently and was looking for some company for the night. I went to the local bar in the main strip which is pretty quiet until 10pm and not much better after. The bar is on the right of the road about 100 meters I think it was called ‘Tambo’ or something like that. You enter the bar down a flight of stairs on the right and it is underneath the building. Be warned though it is pretty seedy, dirt floor and dark with about half a dozen girls waiting around for a client and occasionally getting up to dance to promote a degree of interest. On ocassion the Indonesian army frequents the place but this night I was the only westerner there and in fact the only potential client there as the other three males (local Indonesian guys) were struggling to stay up right in a dark corner of the bar. I was reading with interest that AirAsia is offering direct flight from KL to Balikpapan beginning in January 2011. Given the relatively sparse information available in this forum or in other forums pertaining to this rich "oil & coal" city, I was wondering whether any brothers here might have some mongering & nightlife information that they can share.

If it is worth a visit, I might want to explore there in mid 2011.
