The weather is pretty predictable all year. Lows will get in the 60s and the highs should be getting closer to 80 by now. I haven't slept with a blanket since moving here.

If you pay at least $40 a night, there should be AC or at least a good fan and a thin blanket. Since a lot of the construction in Tijuana is concrete/brick/etc the rooms won't get cold at night. I happen to run hot so I'll always stay in a place with AC and keep it cold in my room.

To me, the clubs -- especially Hong Kong -- gets warm inside all year so I like to dress in lighter fabric to remain comfortable. Even on "cold" nights when the temps are in the 50s I never feel that cold. The paraditas will be bundled up like eskimos but it is all relative.

Thank you for the detailed response. I tend to run on the cool side.

Dont expect the temperature to get so warm at night is a coastal town, so even in the summer time in the morning gets a bit chilly. Pack mostly summer clothes, youll spend most of your time at the clubs and it gets hot and stuffy in there.

I always pack shorts and a t-shirt to sleep in, the hotels provide blankets if you get cold they'll be available

i escaped the soon-to-be-sauna that was hk, and went for a stroll. the weather was so nice, i kinda hated to be inside.

took a pass through chavelas. i really hate the new layout. lots of dance room, but i liked the old long bar. all the chicas perched there like so many birds on a wire. now it seems there a many fewer chicas, but maybe that's an optical illusion. in this case, approaching 6pm, there were very few.

after a quick peek into cc (5 or 6 people inside) i headed up constitucion and went into delicias.

the mesero tried to nab me, but i grabbed a seat at the bar and waited. beer is something like 25 pesos, not bad. after a few minutes i noticed a little live wire at the other end of the bar. i've completely forgotten her name, but she's very thin, about 5" 4", brown hair, several tats including a tiger on her left shoulder. very animated and talkative, and i suspect some of that may have been chemically induced. she was really thin, if you know what i mean...

so, after her two fichas, my one beer and loads of squirming and groping, we settled on 450p for 40 minutes. weird, i know. we went next door to the hotel. as i was walking down the hall, i peered into a couple of the rooms. what a dump! they looked slightly better than the eduardo, in that they had toilets and some semblance of a shower. but only slightly better. anyway, the guy at the desk wanted money. there was a sign stating the prices, but it was a bit confusing. he explained that the 60p figure was for the street girls, but the 180p number was for the bar girls. wtf?? $15?? three times the "street girl" rate?? for this shithole? (now some more experienced guys can jump in here and let me know if the high buck rooms are better than the ones i saw in the hallway. maybe you get more for your 180p?) in any case, i couldn't believe it. i absolutely hate being taken advantage of, especially in a down economy. cascadas pulled that shit ($15/media hora) a while back. at least they can partially justify it because, by zona standards, they have much nicer rooms. clean, reasonably large, good shower, etc. i expressed shock to the guy and protested that this was the same as adelita. i just got a blank stare in return. so, my pissed-offedness overcame my horniness, i looked at them both, waved, said adios and walked out the door.

i like it when a monger decides to walk on a bad deal instead of saying "fuck it" and handing over his hard earned money. at least he gets an opportunity to vent and waive some money under the nose of a crook, then snatch it back. the girl gets to lose too.

only problem is that the crook knows that, in about 5 minutes, there will be another monger who will just shut up and pay.

more mongers need to say "no" to rips like this and send a message to the girls that they too lose session money in these rips. maybe they don;t care a whole helluva lot either, but at least your money goes where it belongs, your pocket.

So, after the quickie with Marisol, it was time to enjoy what was left of the afternoon. It was now just after 7pm.

I hadn't been up Revu in ages. I figured I'd look around and note any changes that have happened in the last several months.

Hard times, that's what's been happening. No big surprise there. Tons of locals out and about, but just one solitary gringo. Or at least it sure seemed that way. As dusk settled in, the crowd definitely started to thin out.

The dinky strip joint just south of Nelson is now open with a new name, something lame and forgettable. The Aloha next door is closed. Futher up, the upstairs joint, IIRC "Iguana," is gone. Bambi is gone (no great loss). Beverly Hills is gone. The strip joint half of Animale is gone. P&B still had a couple of touts outside. Madona is still open, but folks weren't exactly beating the doors down to get in.

Man, between 6th and 7th it looked like a ghost town. Virtually all the businesses were shuttered, with Se Renta signs painted on the doors.

But, in the middle of all this economic devastation, there were still a few signs of life. The Club Estrella, on 6th, had a whole new facade and signage, across 6th there's a new club, Circo (or something like that) for the young 'uns. Cesar's is remodeling. Between 2nd and 3rd (?), west side, where all that huge upstairs space is, there is a new huuuuge gay bar (!). Club 41? I had no idea that TJ was such a gay magnet.

It was getting on towards 8, and I figured it'd be better to get back to ZN before it got completely dark. So, I headed back in search of round 2.

I went down to TJ on Thursday. Hung out in HK for a majority of the day. But didn't really like it as much as I used to. The girls were more snobby than they used to be. Unsure why. Maybe it's because the place is starting to get packed like Adelitas used to be. They blast the music here to the point where it's uncomfortable. Extremely crowded.

Went to Adelitas. Funny, but here the girls are more tamed than they used to be. And less crowded. It actually feels like the Chicago Club several years ago. Here, the music is played at a level where one can converse with a chica without yelling. It's nicer here. Only complaint is that there's a bit too much silicone here.

Checked Tropical. To me, it's too dark in here to be able to pick out the pretty girls from the ugly ones. But one can see from the silouettes that there are many "fat" girls here if that's your style. On the other hand, everywhere is a dark corner. So I'm sure that the girls are less shy.

Chicago was terrible. Absolutely terrible. In fact, some of their best girls have moved on to Adelitas. The quality here is ... dare I say it? Less than the alley. And I've thumped my nose at the alley for years. BTW, angel-faced Maria. She's moved on to Adelitas.

So I ended up at Las Chevales, which is situated beween Adelitas and Hong Kong. There were several stunningly beautiful women here. Here's the problem. They speak zero English. So you have to be creative with sign language. For example, putting your right index finger into your left hand OK sign has a significant meaning; or six fingers means $60.

In Conclusion -
Chicago: ugly fuck.
Adelitas: trophy fuck.
Hong Kong: young trophy fuck with attitude.
Tropical: fat fuck.
Chaveles: tender loving care fuck. but bring a dictionary.

Glad to see people are still posting TRs on here. I was going to head down to Tijuana a few weeks ago but was unable to (shit came up). Anyways, I know this probably isn't the right place to be asking this but does anyone here have any experience gambling in Tijuana? I was originally going to make a 400+ mile roundtrip drive from where I live here in Cali to Primm, NV to bet on Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Sunday but remembered that there was supposedly some kind of sportsbook near the vinicity of the Zona (I believe it is called Caliente?). This coupled with the fact that I'm long overdue for a Tijuana trip has me thinking I can kill two birds with one stone. Has anyone wagered on sports there and is it in a "fairly" safe area? Anyway advice/input would be greatly appreciated. As far as the chicas are concerned, I know Sunday's aren't the best days but I figure by the time the game is over there will be a decent selection at HK/AB.

Was in Tijuana over the weekend. Got there pretty later a little after 3am.

All the places were closed. Whats up with that? I remember places opened till 5 or 6am.

Asked one of the guys at the door. They said that a few months ago someone got shot right in front of AB and now they are all closing at 3am.

Nice report, pretty much how I saw things, anyone been in HK during the soccer? Not that I'm a soccer fan but I'm guessing that the place becomes a sausagefest...again. So this would be a good place to avoid during the next month.

Chicago club has been dead in the daytime for years... usually only good after 10pm or so at night. Actually most of their best girls have moved over to Hong Kong lately almost 15-20 former CC faces there now. Roxie Diana Marylou sometimes Estefani and Naomi. A few moved to AB over the past few years but most lately have been transferring to HK, especially the newer girls, CC gets them to work about a week or 2 and then they see the HK packed with men and move to HK.

The games are being held fairly early (like Mexico vs South Africa was at 7am US pacific time) due to the World cup being held in South Africa. So most people saw it at home and the bars just have rebroadcasts so the 'live action' type of feeling and crowds are not there. Mexico vs France Thurs is gonna be at 2:30pm or so daytrippers might to experience crowds in the bars and the city going nuts if Mexico wins.

The 3am bars clubs closing rule has been in effect for a couple months now after the HK-AB inspection raids that caught alot of chicas without their id and health dept cards. Its still one hour more partying then you can do in California and it makes it a little easier to talk to a chica late at night and set up a rendezvous after 3am.. :)

So I decided to do something about it this year. So with new expectations, condoms & lube, a pocket full of dollar bills, and a butt-load of pesos. I left for Tijuana at 2:00 on Friday afternoon and was in the hotel by 2:35. I parked in the overnight Duty Free lot for $8, bought some tequila, and headed for the yellow cabs. Prior to going, my friend that lives in Tijuana cashed in some dollars and got a decent rate of 12. 39. For this trip, I would try the peso route, with the advice from Phordphan.

This time I decided to stay at Hotel Ticuan. Took a yellow cab there for 50 pesos (so I'm ahead already). This was a great hotel choice. I got one of the executive rooms for $58, which was very roomy and in the inner part of the hotel, so no outside noise whatsoever. The hotel, room, and staff were all top-notched. The manager showed me two of the other rooms, a standard for $54, which was not near as nice as mine, and then the jacuzzi suite for $88. A very large room with a large jacuzzi to boot. My last overnight trip I stayed at Hotel La Villa De Zaragoza for about $42. Decent, but Ticuan was great.

I was waiting for my non-monger friend to show up, and Ticuan had a nice bar, so fuck waiting in the lobby. Headed for the bar. I had a really good margarita for $2. 10, then another (friend is always late). We he showed up, we decided to walk to La Zona Norte. Before the trip I was concerned that if Mexico won the soccer game, it would be crazy, and a similar concern if they lost the game. Well it was a tie, and most seemed happy with the tie. But Revolution was quite busy throughout the day and late into the night. Not many Gringos though.

The first stop was my place of worship; HK. Caught the end of the shaving creamy show. The girls actually seem to have fun sliding the length of the long stage. Hell, I wanted to get my hairy ass on the stage and slide too. But I think that would be against the rules. And I don't think that telling the staff that it was my birthday would make a damn bit of difference as they tossed me out the door. I walked around a bit and ran into to Tryra, who I was looking for anyway. We sat down a had a couple of drinks and some Don Julio shots. She told me HK did not open until 10, after the soccer game was over. Many of the other girls were sporting Mexican team clothing.

So up to the room we went. I did not know why I paid the guy at the door $1 until yesterday. It was for the robe rental that she wore when we left and went into the room. What a racket. Tryra is great in the sack. No limitations whatsoever. I attempted to give her 600 pesos at the end of the session. Then I got that "I can calculate math" look. So I threw in another 100 and asked, OK? Got the look again! So at this point I was lost and gave the fuck up and took it all back and gave her 60US and we were both happy.

Went back and got my buddy and took a walk around the "Goodie block. " Quite a few hotties out today. Stopped for taco as well. Headed back into HK, and my buddy asked, "Why are we going back in there? " I explained it was my birthday and I still had many one dollar bills. He seemed to except my answer. Besides Tryra, I asked at least 6 others how much for going upstairs, and they all quoted me $60. Except one chunky one sitting at the bar, who quoted $80. Which I wanted to say, but I didn't, "Enjoy that bar stool because you will be there throughout the night. " BTW, who is the girl that looks like botox went crazy on? Her lips, face, breast, and ass is way out of proportion. But I give her credit, she does her best to work the crowd.

We headed back to the hotel and walked by El Torito's and we were told two for one margaritas. So up to the balcony we went. After 2-3 drinks, headed to the hotel so I could shower and change. I previously learned about a Spanish restaurant called Restaurant Lorca. There was a yellow cab at the hotel and the driver, Carlos, charged us $3 to get to the place. He came in with us, because I asked him to come back for us later. He left his number with a server. The food at this place was excellent, especially the paella & sangria, and at a good price. There was live music, and I heard happy birthday in Spanish and English (Spanish version is a lot longer).

I was suppose to meet a couple of people from work at Las Pulgas nightclub around 10, did not get there until 10: 30. This club is huge, and truly believe I was the only Gringo in the place. We hung out for about an hour and I did several walk arounds looking the people I was suppose to meet. Not there. I notice this club had no age barriers. Young and old enjoyed this place. And there were a lot of hot looking women and I thought about staying for a while and trying my luck, but because my Spanish is limited to "How are you" & "How much for 30 minutes, " I figure I didn't have much of a chance of picking a lady up out of this place.

My buddy wanted to do karaoke and I refused to partake, but where he wanted to go was near the zone, and I still had a bunch of dollar bills left, he went his way and I went back to HK. That was a mistake. There were at least a million non-drinking, non-tipping gropers in the place. So after about 30 minutes I left for a walk around the "Goodie block. " Saw my hot blonde lady and she said anything goes for $20. I guess because it was late and I'm sure she was tired of standing for 6-7 hours. Told her I was tired and declined her offer. The end of my block walk always seems to end up at the taco stand, but I did have a lot of paella. But what the hell, one more taco was not going to hurt.

My plan was to walk to the karaoke place and see if my buddy was still there. That was the plan and it sounded good at one point. I started walking back on the left side of the street, the one that has a slight incline, and planned on turning left to the arch. But on the way, I saw this stunning cutie and I practiced my two Spanish phrases, and this is where my plan went astray. Spent about 30 minutes with her and we, or at least I, had a good time. She told me her name, but I forgot it after about 5 minutes. Then her name became "Sweetie. " Finally made my way to the arch and took a cab back to the hotel around 2:00.

Observations this trip:

1. There are no birthday discounts!

2. The dude that makes the pork tacos is the fastest and hardest worker that I have seen in years.

3. Not only are stop signs are mere recommendations for taxis, but flashing red lights as well.

4. The cops are out in full force, hopefully the town can recover some day.

5. The later the night gets, the SW's get cheaper.

6. The Duty free parking attendant will not take pesos. I tried.

Got to the border around 11:15 Saturday morning and the line was long, but went quickly. About 15 minutes.

There's a Caliente sports book in the alley, IIRC. At least there used to be. I never went there. There is a much larger, nicer one on Revu, between 2nd and 3rd I think, west side. And, another next to the Jai Alai fronton with better seating. And loads all over town, too.

If you don't wave your thousands of $$ in winnings around in a drunken stupor, I think you'll be ok. :D

Also be aware that there is a 5% tax imposed on sportsbook winnings in TJ. I've always felt very safe in and around the Caliente sportsbooks although I've only ever placed nickel and dime bets. Obviously, walking around with a lot of cash is risky so just exercise some common sense. Either make your trip a quick in and out bombing run or check into a reputable hotel with an in-room safe like the Pueblo Amigo or Ticuan.
