Reports were that elektra was a buyers market. This hasn't been so for me. Still 150k pesos and a shit ton more guys. They still leave after a couple of hours only its daylight out when they do. The selection this trip at LDV hasnt been as great either, but it definitely beats the alternative. Tony nmber one is still around, hasn't died or gone to Venezuela. Hes tryin to charge me 30k to introduce a girl, on top of beers and chairs. FUCk! A couple chicks at LDV went for 120k-140k but thats as low as they go, tried to play hardball with one, she was at the elevator door the next second don't think she was negotiating just leaving. I had to go get her and paid 150k. Bueno suerte!

Two guys from the USA that were with our group almost had a fist fight with him. With me he was begging for drinks and beside him over charging me he then wanted a tip.

If I return to CTG it will not be on his beach.

i was there for a week about a month ago. only just got around to writing my trip report.

i've been to ctg maybe 5 or 6 times before. i stayed in el laguito which i must say looks like a shithole these days with all the roadworks going on. the weather was shit too, raining for 4 or 5 days out of the 7. i don't really have anything different to report, but here goes.

i began most of my nights at ldv. it's certainly more expensive these days than it used to be, but then again if you're coming to ctg you have to accept the fact that this isn't pattaya or angeles city anymore. it's much more expensive.

having said all that, i would still say that ldv is probably the best freelancer place in the world in terms of average quality. i'm reasonable well-travelled and have a good base to judge it by:

helpeee (rip)/balcony in brazil
escape/fenwicks/neptunes in hk
dds in macau
everydamnplace in bangkok and pattaya
la cafe in manila
newports in buenos aires
etc etc

anyway, you get the point. although ldv is more expensive than it used to be, it's still jam packed full of 7s-10s and that's pretty damn fine and rare in my not-so-humble-opinion.

colombian girls are a special breed. they are uniquely beautiful but they won't approach you, even in a putaria such as ldv you need to make the first move! on the rare occasions you're approached you can be sure it's by the hardest of pros and usually the ugliest too.

as you've heard a million times before, don't go to ldv too early. i don't get there before midnight. at about 3am the ladies make their slow way to elektra which is owned by the same guy. the formula goes like this:

elektra = ldv + more_noise + more_italians_and_israelis + more_girls_from_other_putarias

the girl: boy ratio is probably slightly less in our favour in elektra, but don't be put off by this. the italians and israelis seem to go to elektra and not ldv but on the whole they don't seem to like to pay, so don't see them as competition. (sorry if you're italian or israeli but this is the consensus of opinion from the girls).

it's not just the girls from ldv that go to elektra, also the girls from isis, queens, tu candela etc. so it's worth going even if you've struck out at ldv.

i went to isis also, which is a strip-joint/brothel. sat there on my own for 30 minutes, no-one spoke to me, girls no better than ldv but fewer clothes. had previously read on isg that it's pretty expensive so didn't really see the point. then again, you could always get some numbers and they become some daytime options. and you really need daytime options in ctg because not much is going on sex-wise during the day other than tony no 1.

tu candela is a challenge. it's ostensibly a non-pro place. however, once you've been to ldv/elektra a few times and begin to know the faces of the girls that go there you'll soon notice that there are lots and lots of those girls in tu candela. but you do need to be discrete and not treat it like a putaria which it certainly isn't.

if you're staying in laguito there's usually a few girls roaming around looking for company. in particular, there's the famous mirador girls; claudia et al.

i've never really been to any casas in ctg. anyone care to recommend some daytime casas?

Went once to PlayClub, hot girls, pretty dark and smokey and very expensive. Didn't sample any girls from there.

Went to Ligueros one Sunday night, no-one was there except me and 15 girls. One especially hot, had a few drinks with her, paid the multa (bar fine) and took her home, went to a couple of bars on the way and had a good time.

Isis was expensive but nice place, as of a few weeks ago there were a couple of good 10's in there. Got a couple of numbers and called girls the next day. One came and stayed a couple of days, paid her for one night, next day we got so wrecked drinking on the beach she stayed another night and day, just had to pay her 100, 000 bar fine.

Bananas was a spot I liked, a couple of sexy girls in there, that were pretty fun.

I just took their phone numbers and called them the next day to avoid bar fine. Those girls are not tied to the bar either (like isis), so they are free at nights too if they don't want to go to work at bananas they don't have to.

Elektra. Been a couple of times and always regreted it the next day, getting home at 6am is a killer.

I just hate the tourist touts in the old city. Basically full of shit and don't seem to understand NO. Avoid them at all costs.

LDV is my favourite by far.

Search this board, get the prices that you should pay and tell HIM what you are willing to pay, it really is that simple. Once he knows he can't get over on you he will back off to a degree. He can be an asset for daytime action if you need or want it but again you need to know what price point you are looking for and tell him that, keeping in mind that you will get what you pay for if you aren't willing to pay a reasonable price. And never give Tony your phone number.

I liked it cause it was wasnt full of people, the girls were friendly and you could smoke in the bar, a couple of the girls even arguing with the bartender when he tried to over-charge me. Only a handful of girls, a couple from Cali, and the rest costenas.

And if you did it right you even skip the bar fine. Cellphone helps

Didn't have to as I came in there with her. Followed us up the road trying to get money out of me. Even tried telling me the hotel I was staying would accept girls and I should go to his recommended hotel. Full of shit as this girl had been in and out the hotel the previous night and day. Never a problem.

Going back to CTG with an experienced monger friend and two newbies to the hobby. Staying in Laguito again. Have not been there for 2 years and a lot can change in 2 years. Have been spending my monger time in the PI lately but have decided to give up the English speaking quantity of ladies in favor of the higher quality and am heading back to Colombia.

Never been to CTG in early December. Hoping the rainy weather is coming to an end and we get some beach and sun.

Questions:

My pal tells me there is an ATM in the airport. I do not recall seeing one last time. I only noticed the money exchange which is always a rip off. Is there an ATM in the CTG airport and if so, where is it.

I remember an ATM in Laguito on the beach side of the street by an ice cream shop. Is this one still there? I also remember an ATM in Boca Grande inside some bank building.

Just hoping one of you who has been there recently can update me on the locations of ATM's in Laguito since our flight arrives late the evening 10: 30 PM our first night and will need an ATM to get some local cash to start the party.

Thanks[/QUOTE]Yes, there are 4 ATMs located inside the airport next to the Avianca ticket counter. After you get your checked bags from the baggage carosel and then clear the final security checkpoint to walk outside on the curb, you'll want to turn to your left to start walking so you can enter back into the airport facility. Walk 20 yards or so and go back inside. Once inside, keep walking that same direction another 50 yards or so. Over to your far left just before the Avianca ticket counter will be 4 ATM machines. Both the Servibanca and Santader machines will spit out 20 mil peso bills. The BBVA machine will give you 50's. If you are even with the Avianca ticket/checkin counter, then you've walked just a little too far.

Last time I checked, the machine in Laguito that you are asking about was taken out or wasn't in service. In Laguito, you'll find an ATM inside the Hilton (typically spits out 50's) and one inside La Perla Casino (next to LDV) that is a Servibanca machine. You'll find many machines at various bank locations in Bocagrande, as well as a Servibanca machine inside the Olympica supermarket in Bocagrande.

Yes, there are several ATMs at CTG airport. There are some on left-hand side as you check in to Avianca, but there are probably lots more.

There are 2 ATMs in El Laguito as of two weeks ago. One to the left of the yoghurt place (Yogurt Fruz I think it's called), one in the Hilton hotel. The latter being the better as it allows 400COP withdrawal per transaction.

I always come prepared with enough local currency for one night just in case a local crisis prevents you from withdrawing money as has happened to me a few times.

The ATM machine you mention in Laguito is still there. Another option in Laguito is the ATM machine in the Casino next to LDV.

ATM's are in several locations, by the Avianca check-in there are 4 of them. There is still an ATM beside the yogurt place, gives 300,000 a hit. December is the end of the rainy season or the start of the dry season, depending on the weather, go figure. Lots of rain this year, more Cali and Cartagena chicas selling it this year.

Do you guys pay security deposit for apartment rental to Mary, Juan or others ?

This is not for reservation but the extra when you pay the rent for the apartment. And if so do you get it back the day you leave ? Is it in cash or credit card...

Not in Colombia but in some other South American countries I have paid the full rent in advanced and then no security deposit, which is great as you don't have to worry about it when you have to leave and catch your flight (if they are late you loose it). So wondered what is the norm here.

Typically just bring USD to pay the rent for your stay and give them personally after you arrive.

I've never had an issue or negative experience with either Mery or Juan and can recommend without hesitation.
