Prostitutes' clients to face charges

KUALA LUMPUR: Those who seek the services of prostitutes, beware.

Starting today, Dang Wangi police will not only crack down on vice syndicates but also on clients of prostitutes.

They will be hauled to court and will face the same charges as members of vice syndicates.

Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zulkarnain Abdul Rahman said yesterday that those who sought the services of prostitutes would be charged with involvement in vice activities.

Clients and vice syndicate members who are Muslim will also face charges in the syariah court for having illicit sex.

"They will be handed over to the Federal Territory Religious Department when we have completed our investigations."

Mohd Zulkarnain has pledged zero vice activities in the district following the arrest of 51 foreign women, believed to be prostitutes, yesterday.

The women, aged between 20 and 40, were detained in a three-hour raid at two adjacent restaurants in Jalan Medan Imbi here.

Seventeen were from Indonesia, 14 from Thailand, 11 from China, five from Laos, three from Vietnam and one from Myanmar.

Checks revealed that 11 were without valid travel documents.

Two local men in their 20s were also detained. The two are drivers who ferried the women to meet their clients.

Police seized two cars used by the men. All 53 suspects have been remanded for a week.

Investigations revealed that the women would wait at the restaurants for the drivers to pick them up and send them to their clients.

Mohd Zulkarnain said the syndicate had been operating the past three months. He also warned hotel and restaurant owners not to allow their premises to be used for vice activities or they would face the consequences.

Am now posting *discreetly* from the business center of one of the 5* hotels in KL (hint: Its near starhill!!). Just had a casual chat with the counter staff about having a guest to join me for breakfast, and she said its $52++ for breakfast only and $130++ to stay overnight and use the executive club's facilities.

I was shocked and quickly asked again, what if she just stay over without needing to use the facilities? The staff replied matter-of-factly that I will still have to pay $130++/night.

Now I am contemplating to 'smuggle' the girl up to my room quietly as there is little security and the lift does not need card access. But just to ask, has anyone encountered the security actually stopping the girl from coming up to the room? My little friend down there will surely be extremely disappointed if this happens!!

Interesting news item but will the charges be able to stand up in a court of law? Under what section of the Criminal Procedure Code will that charge be framed? It would be interesting to see a test case. Those charged should be the pimps and the OKT and the OKP and not the innocent victims such as the forced WL and the client.

In some countries, the hotels charge per head and if such is the case with this hotel, then the hotel has every right to charge for your overnight guest. However if the charge is per room, then the hotel should not charge extra for your overnight guest. The onus is on the hotel to show that they charge per head and if that is the case, to show that you had an overnight guest.

But the point is you would not stand at the lobby and go into an argument with the security/front-desk, while having a girl hanging on your arms right?? Sighz.

Anyway, no luck for last night; walked up and down the streets till 11:00pm, the row at beach club was rather quiet (although beach club was crowded as usual). Anyone has any recommendations for a lazy guy like me? Will definitely come back to post FR.

To whoever is having probs with getting girls into hotels. Firstly this is all nonense.. act like you belong and advise your partner to.

Second if you are stopped.. tel whoever is stopping you to get the Generla Manager right now.. as unless he gives you a good explanation as to why you cant have company then you are checking out. Hotels here do good business but not THAT good they can be choosy.

Act with determination. and confidence.. it will quieten down most people.Further advisev them that when you made a booking you clearly stated it was for two people.. if they dont have that record its their fault.

Its a fun game to play as you will always win!

However this is more for the facilities and breakfast to be provided for both guests; its not like they would lose any flesh for another person to sleep in the room that was already paid for.

Anyway, your post had made me confident again; going out to hunt now!! Haha... ;p

I just wanted to ask how far the beach club is from the Mandarin Oriental as I'll be staying there in a few weeks time. Also I doubt the Mandarin Oriental has a health club. If not which ones are recommended close to this hotel?

A Malay "customer" in Ipoh was charged along with the prostitute, he was found guilty.

There is a law in Malaysia to penalize cheonger.
