Uber is not illegal in Colombia
I've read more than one report claiming that Uber is illegal in Colombia. Seriously, how fucking stupid do you have to be to believe that a multi-million dollar multinational corporation would operate illegally in any country? You got to be dumb as shit. If Uber was illegal in Colombia, the government would block all access to Uber, just like the Chinese government blocks whatever Western sites they don't agree with. Secondly, Uber's board of directors would be issued arrest warrants with Interpol, and would be extradited to Colombia to stand trial by any country with an extradition treaty with Colombia. Thirdly, no Colombian bank could to business with Uber. When you open a business in a foreign country, the first thing you do is open a local bank account. How the fuck does Uber process credit card payments in Colombia if they are illegal? And how the fuck would Uber pay corporate taxes in Colombia if they are operating illegally without a license? It's called tax evasion and the charges can be felonies punishable by decades in a Colombian prison if they are anything like USA Laws. You think the millionaire Uber executives in San Francisco gave the green light to operate illegally in Colombia when it's obvious they risk serious time in Colombian prison?
The real truth about Uber in Colombia? A few years ago, they were sued by a taxi collective. The judge found in favor of the taxi collective, that Uber was operating with unfair advantages, and ordered Uber to cease operations in Colombia. Uber immediately complied because their execs didn't want to go to prison. Uber then found a loophole. Uber resumed operations a month later claiming that they are not a rideshare company, but instead a car rental company, and that the car just happened to included a driver. And since then they are operating as a car rental company, 100% legally.
All those who are writing "sit in front seat because Uber is illegal" please wake the fuck up and try to process logic with your single digit IQ brain of yours and it will be clear that there is no way in hell Uber can operate illegally in any country.
