I have used both Globe and Smart 3G on my 3GS. A quick google search will reveal the prepaid APN settings for Globe and SMART and instructions on how to program them into your phone.

The term "Filipino" is Synonymus with "Tagalog".

You can get the micro sim for the iPhone4 and the iPad only from Globe here, and it costs Php 1,000 per month for unlimited net access and downloads. That is, if you don't want to cut down an existing sim. When I was in Singapore about a month ago, I bought a small cutting instrument designed to cut down regular-size sim cards to the micro size. It works fine as well. There are also small kiosk-like shops that offer the "trimming to micro size" service and will do it for you for a couple of dollars. I don't think you can get the sim from Globe without a plan.

I'm going to visit the Philippines in February, but I would like to leave some luggage in the store 's airport because I come from Europe and I'm sure that I will have a heavy luggage, over 15 kg allowed.

I decided to travel with Cebu Pacific, in its terminal 3, is there a luggage storage there?

PS: T3 is new - should have a "left luggage" facility (as they are known in Philippines )

I would agree with ET

I use CPac a lot and you can pre pay for excess baggage (I had 40kgs recently...accessories etc ;)). But if you want to travel light then I suggest you book one night in an hotel on your return to Manila and ask the hotel to care for the bages

I even left luggage in an hotel, went overseas and came back 2 weeks later and the bag was still there - I had changed my mind and was staying at different hotel (tip the bag man well is my idea). Just explain and all will be fine and IMHO certainly safer than leaving at the terminal.

A child's first language is typically one of the regional tongues such as Chevacanco, Visayan, or Ilocano. For foreigner residing outside of Manila, learning pure Tagalog isn't very helpful. The simple fact is, despite what the guidebooks may say, and possibly to the chagrin of the government, there is no common, unifying national language unless perhaps it's Taglish.

That is true in my experience GE. The only people I know who speak/understand Tagalog fluently are educated Manila people & us 'poriners' who learned it.

Out side of Manila these people switch to dialect when conversing because basically the hicks in the province can't keep up with a native Tagalog speaker. Also there is a deep suspicion/mistrust of 'Manila people'.

I spent quite a lot of time around the Dipolog area in Mindanao in the past & found in those parts Tagalog about as useful as English i.e. not very...

I simply had to learn Cebuano for everyday activities. Even senior college students who should have had years of English/Tagalog classes were pretty clueless once you got past 'hello, how are you'.

Interestingly as I moved further south west from Dipolog towards say, Sindangan, it got worse! People only an hour or two drive from Dipolog speak a very local dialect called 'Subanen'. These folk are descendants of tribes of coastal people who were indigenous before the moslems walked in & took over the peninsula of Zamboanga.

None get criminal charges, all charges lifted for his friends Puno and the like, only light "administrative" charges against Lim (read: nothing really, just for show), and only the smaller fishes (police official) get the blame on very general charges whereas specific charges against political allies (the real culprit) are ignored.

What else is new? The whole thing is a joke and a waste of time, with the IIRC recommendations basically ignored by the "President" after over-long delays. If I was Chinese from Hong Kong I would be steaming mad but I am not so let's just move on to the next mongering business while we still can...
