I've seen one that looks interesting and it has a private entrance, nothing shared, but it looks like the owners live in an adjoining unit? Guests allowed, it says. Would that mean I would have to knock on their door every time I brought a girl back to get them to sign in? Everything I've read says that girls run for the hills if they have to sign in.
I am totally new at this and any help is appreciated.
No, you rent and get the keys. However the owners may insist on signing them in a guest book. It basically protects you and the owner. If she refuses to produce a legitimate and legible carnet for you at least to witness, then it should be you 'running for the hill'. The last thing you need is her being without a carnet ever issued, or her stealing from the casa.

What beach
Few more fellas.
What beach is that at the girl with yellow bathing suit?

I have been preaching for years for guys to rent a hotel for one day and walk around to inspect the casas. What's advertised is usually what you don't get on the Internet. Casa living can be hard on some guys, bars on the window, no air conditioning, no maids for daily cleaning etc.
Don't believe what you read about Cubans wanting to show you the culture, they want you to give them money and get the hell out of their house. If they are showing you the culture they are going to over-charge you for it. Finding the right Casa with the correct chemistry with the owners takes time and patience which most guys here don't have. Actually the benefit about Cuba that protects us from being ripped off is that girls have to acknowledge who they are, otherwise guys would be posting here that Cubanas are no good.
So I decided I wanted to stay in the Vedado area, close to La Rampa. I will have a hotel but am looking for a good private casa with a private entrance and off-site landlords. Is La Rampa a good area? I hear the night life is pretty good and has some good jazz clubs also in the area.
Thank you.
Vedado is a very nice area! I rent a casa in the street Avendida De LOS Presidente on the 13th floor. From the building it is 250 meters to walk and you are in Calle 23 (La Rampa). Both streets (Avendida De LOS Presidente and La Rampa) have action and especially in the night and weekends. Here is a view from my apartment in Cuba.

How do you actually find and inspect the casa's once you are in Cuba? I am staying in a real shithole hotel in Vedado but with flight it cost me $550 Canadian. So it's only a starting point. So do I hire a driver or walk around or what? I've been to Havana before and I really liked the area around the Capitolio (and I ate at LOS Nardos everyday, LOL). But I love live music and jazz in particular. I am solo travelling and a young guy so I hope to meet a few nice ladies during my stay.
Thanks again!

Thanks again!
I was very lucky my first trip to Cuba because the first girl that I fucked also spoke English. She spent the afternoon walking around with me to see casas, and we found a very nice one with a private entrance. My last trip in February we found a better option which Grownman used. We found a bici guy who spoke English and he whipped out his phone and within 5 minutes we were off to look at 3 private casas. My suggestion is to find a bici guy (that speaks English) and tell him you are looking for a casa. Don't over play your hand by offering him money to take you around, let him pickup on the opportunity to not lose out on this deal. He will tell you to get in and take you around because he will get his cut from the casa owner.
I'm very particular with my casas. I don't want to be above the second floor because I don't trust the elevators in Cuba. One place we looked at was on the 7th floor and when you entered the elevator the control panel was actually hanging outside of the wall. I had to pickup the control panel and with the other hand press the floor number. Most casas have bars on the window if its a lower floor and usually the entrance is also the only exit. I view these as fire traps. Every casa I've had didn't have immediate hot water, usually you had some kind of contraption where you had to light a flame or flick a switch. You are lucky if you get fresh sheets every 3 days. Cubans don't knock when they enter the casa they just bust in, I've been caught fucking twice because of this. When you take a girl to the casa and she sees the house phone don't let her use it till after you fuck. These girls will take advantage of the situation and call every relative and friend they can. And with a casa you will be lucky to get 3 television channels, sports, old American westerns, and usually a channel to promote togetherness and socialism, so take some DVDs if you have a laptop for down time.
La Zorra y El Cuervo is one of my favorite Jazz clubs on 23 avenue. Its a 5 cuc ride from the capital building.

I've been vacationing in Vedado right across the street from the Melia Cohiba Hotel for 15 years now and the area is dead.
Their is a very strong police presence because of high tourist traffic in this neighborhood. The Malecon is heavily patrolled by Police and for the most part its just teenagers singing, dancing and drinking during the night.
The professionals are mostly in the big discos in Centro Havana hanging with their pimp boyfriends asking for 75 -100 cuc. Its a real hustlers convention so do your homework. The major clubs in Vedado are Johnnys, Jazz Club and Club 1830 all of which are poor choices if you wish to meet girls.
Remember that Castro cleaned up the streets more than 12 years ago and that part time girls are very hard to find unless you have solid contacts otherwise your going to have to settle for hardcore girls in large discos.
The information posted here on Cuba is becoming very sketchy. IMHO.

To meet girls
In front of Melia Cohiba you have the Gas Station that have a meeting place outside. Close to this meeting place you also find the shopping center Galerias De Paseo. Habana Cafe and a Jazz Club is also located in the same area. In the evening and night I see many freelancers here. Here you can find very nice girls from 30-100 CUC. I think 50 CUC is normal price here? If you walk down the street Calle 1 ra you also will find more restaurants and open markets where many girls are hanging around. Many girls are looking for company here.

For a first timer who speaks no Spanish, doesn't understand the casa situation and has to play cat and mouse games with the police and girls, Cuba is very hard. Vedado is too wide open and as you say the police are everywhere, but its a great place to hangout. Personally I like centro Habana and viejo Habana because it is more of a community where once the people see you and develop a comfort zone with you pussy presents itself from all avenues. If you pay attention in these places you can tap into a local game. For instance; Most girls hanging out in centro Habana and Viejo Habana sitting on their stoop late at night are tricking (good Cubanas are in the house at night). Usually they cater to the bici guys who want quickies for 10 cuc and its a known circuit for the taxi guys. Now once you put yourself on this late night circuit you might limit the amount of normal girls living in your neighborhood to present themselves. Word travels fast in these small communities. Every time you leave your casa girls are paying attention even though they act like they aren't. I usually respect my casa and only take my main girl there but I will occasionally double back to my old casa neighborhood where they know me and get a stoop girl for a quickie but they like to overcharge because I'm a gringo so I never pay more than 20 cuc. Also I usually leave some old shoes or clothing with these stoop girls on my last day in Cuba, and they really appreciate my gesture and happily await my return.
The gringo visiting for a weekend will never have time to develop these relationships.

The place in front of la Galeria is a new meeting point since 2-3 years and gets very crowded. Might be dead from time to time due to a police exercise, but only for a week or two.

Many normal girls are hanging around here. My experience is mainly from the evening and night. Of course this could depend of the Police situation in Cuba but I think this place is a regular meeting point for many people. My apartment it's located in the Avendida De LOS Presidente a street some blocks Away from this area and in the evening I often go out for a walk to feel the sea from Malecon or to have Internet Service at Hotel Presidente. Hotel Presidente has now Internet with fiber optic and the speed is rather fast.

Remember that a lot of wealthy educated Cubans live in Vedado and they don't want their neighborhood image tarnished.
I know this because the casa where I stay is owned by two Cuban doctors. The mall across the street (Galleria Paseo) does attract a lot of pretty girls but very few of them are looking for tourists.
For guys who don't have much time to spend looking for women in Havana expect to pay up if you want quality.
Things take time in Cuba and there's a lot of cat and mouse games that transpire when hunting for local talent.
It can be very frustrating but I've gotten used to it.

So I am all booked and good to go for the end of the month. Very excited. I found a nice private casa in Old Havana, close to Obispo and Parque Central. I am more of a day game kinda guy so I am hoping to meet girls in the park and on the streets in this area, take them back to my casa for maybe an hour or so. I have an electronic translator and can make due that way. My Spanish sucks and I am not Don Juan so I am assuming most of my adventures will be with at least semi-pros. But like I said, I like doing "stuff" during the day. My nights will be spent chica-free enjoying the jazz and clubs, etc.
So do you guys have any tips, suggestions, and maybe give me some ideas on what I can expect? Is my plan realistic?
Thanks in advance.

Go to the clubs and jazz spots and meet girls and ask them if you can get their number to invite them back to your place the next day for a romp. You will meet a few pros on Prada and Bispo during the day but they will probably be hardcore. If you are only looking for an hour to fuck you may not be able to enjoy the beauty of really fucking a Cubana. Cubanas like to be seduced and fucked hard and long, sometimes with back to back sessions. A Cubana once told me she feels inadequate if a guy doesn't have two orgasms or more. Eat your wheaties, do some push ups and do some cardio to get ready, because the Cuban girls will be ready.
