If you don't know anything about Thailand, you had better do your homework before considering retirment here. It's a totally different environment and the differences between Europe are great. A lot of expats have tried, and a lot have failed and moved on. One man's paradise is another man's hell. I gave it five years and had enough. But the big problem is that you have to spend time in a place that is as big a shithole as Bangkok. Just like Thailand, unless you need to be in metropolis-central, there are plenty of much better all-round places in the regions.

First of all, you can't buy a house. As a Farang you can own property, but not land. Therefore, you must buy a condo and there are lots of regulations there.
Two months is nothing more than a vacation. You need to be here for a year or two before deciding if this is a place you want to retire. And then where: Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Two Bug Fuck or my favorite, Chiang Mai?

Whenever I go on holiday for 2 months or less, I always buy a house, but only when people aren't looking, (even if they are trustworthy) because I'm shy about things like that.
