Anyone Can Be Mugged Anywhere...
That's funny. When I gave a report of being violently robbed near LA Cafe you and a bunch of others just shrugged it off and either directly said or insinuated it was my fault. I am too frail, drunk, not careful, etc. Neither of which were/are true.
On the other hand I felt completely safe on Fields in AC.
Now, which is it?
Redfield once again. I sincerely apologize if you feel that I took your reported robbery or mugging lightly. As has been said before you didn’t really go into detail about what happened as Ezinho did. I also asked Ezinho did he do anything to provoke them if you noticed. So I am asking you and I am asking the board do you think you or Ezinho were the first to walk those streets that night? If not so why you guys?
Now as I have stated countless times. I have been hanging around PI since 04. Whenever I am out and those who have met me (Carmex and Mccawff off another forum) can assure you I am always wearing an attention getting VVS diamond. So why is it no Filipinos have tried me? You said luck but do you really think I am that lucky? I have been to LA countless times now but do I walk around that neighborhood on foot? Um no.
The neighborhood looks dodgy to begin with (Homeless, beggars, Shabu addicts etc…) even to the most naïve traveler. Get a taxi to drop you off at the door and once you exit and have a taxi pick you up soon as you leave the doors.
As for AC its a big tourist town unlike Manila which makes incidents that much shocking. I was there for a day in Jan 08. Dressed very nice. I was out at night, early morning. Nothing. I get harassed by Filipinos all the time when I am out shopping, jogging, biking, early morning but most of time they just poking fun because I am young and dress in a hip hop manner nothing malevolent…..but robbed?
Furryfriend question about the Pinoy
Hello Furryfriend,
I was a lot of times in PI and most Pinoy where verry friendly to me even in the most sleazy local bars.
This summer we go to Vietnam and there. It seems what I read. The local men are much more macho and shout "*****" when you are farang and yoiu have an (any) asian girl with you. THAT NEVER HAPPENED TO ME.
I do verry verry stupid things like getting way to drunk just at sidestreets where locals sit outside. They (the locals) ask for drinks which I give sometimes. Sometime a local girls sais shes my wife and she keeps the change what I forget to ask back. I just pick up girls from the street to my hotel room and once they run away with 2000P (leaving the creditcard, pasport and airplaine ticket in my suitcase). I would conclude that if you be respectfull to the locals and just want to be a part of their living area. They even take care of you. This is just after 100 days being completely drunk and sitting between the most sleazy parts of AC, Cebu (downtown) etc etc.
Even streetgirls at the back aleys of AC where taking care for me!
Maybe I was lucky. But I also heared (from other internet sites) that locals can be hard if you act like you are a millionaire in this poor country. If you flash with your money and other expensive goods and you show that you don't trust them (build a big fence around your house eg) they will act accordingly.
Travel safe (thats with nothing on you)
Ronald
I'm getting the impression that all Filipino guys under 50 are scammers, thugs or drunks. When going through airport security at Clark, a few security guys were scrutinizing my wallet as if I could be carrying a bomb the size of a credit card. They didn't look elsewhere except my wallet.
Even my Filipina friends in the U.S. advise me to avoid Filipino men while in the Philippines. You'd imagine that, since this is a religious country, people will act with more piousness.
Someone please tell me Filipino guys in other parts of P.I. aren’t this shady and that Angeles City attracts only the worst of them.
