Completely agree with you. GFE is much easier to find in Pattaya than in Bangkok in my opinion. And sticking to standard Pattaya rates almost guarantees a GFE.

I third that. Usually in Pattaya I have to give a girl her money and tell her it's time to go, especially with overnighters. I guess this may be a question of what one considers as a good GFE which I think will depend on what is important for a guy. For me it would include not just not taking an early bath by pretending to have a heathache etc, but being someone with sufficient English and intelligence to be someone I would be happy to travel around with for say a month, felt able to trust and liked being with as a friend as well as just a sexual partner. Maybe it's me but I find such girls difficult to find in Pattaya, certainly compared with my experience in the Phils and other countries such as say Colombia.

I think it's prob. easier for a GFE in Pattaya then in BKK as I have had to ask nicely that they leave the next morning in Pattaya on several occasions. This having been said though actually apparently I have a real GFE from BKK who texts and emails me semi-regularly. so i took the bus down from ekkamai. here are some tips for you newbies interested in taking the bus. first, plan at least 2.5 hours from the time of departure, depending on traffic. so thinking backwards, if you want to have your face nuzzling cozily between the breasts of an over-eager gogo dancer by, say 10pm, you need an hour for pre-gogo meal, an hour or so for the taxi/bus ride from the station to the hotel, and shower, two hours on the bus down to pattaya, and half an hour to an hour for the bts ride, plus wait between scheduled buses at ekkamai. so that means you should plan to leave your hotel in bkk no later than 5pm or so. i actually usually try to be out the hotel by 4pm at the latest.
the bus sometimes makes detours to drop off individuals in the back country, which is incredibly frustrating. the bus makes a 15 minute detour to drop one person off. phphphp. but just be patient and go with it.
the second tip is don't try to flag a bus down - go to the ticket counter, buy a ticket, and make your way to terminal 1. you can't miss it - it's where the horn dog single males are congregating. this time, as the bus was exiting the terminal, an obvious tourist (he looked italian, but don't ask me how i could tell) steps in front of the bus and tries to flag it down. he obviously thought this was how things are done, as he saw nothing wrong with it. the driver saw him, and simply ignored him. the bus ploughed on, and at the last minute, the frightened tourist lept out of the way with a very puzzled look on his face.
so, when you exit the bts, look for the signs that point you to the bus station. go down the stairs, and when you get to street level, turn around and walk 100m or so the other direction - the terminal is on your left. look for the sign that says "pattaya" and pay the lady. one seat is 113 baht. if you are a portly gent, or an nba player, you might consider buying two seats, since they are a little tight. i am 5'10", 150 pounds, and i find the seats are just a little tight for me.
so i arrived, and grabbed a motocy - a motorbike taxi. there are at least two choices when you get off the bus. the first, perhaps most popular, is the baht bus. you can't miss them - as you exit the bus, there are touts directing you towards these 'buses'. they are not really buses in the traditional sense - they are just pick up trucks with a canopy and seats in the truck bed. the fare is 20baht from the bus terminal, but 10baht if you catch it anywhere in town (i.e., you pay a premium for getting to and from the bus station). the pros of the bb are that it is right there, waiting for you, everytime the bkk bus rolls in; it is pretty cheap; they make a direct route down beach rd, so you are likely to get dropped off somewhere near your hotel. the trick though is to know where to get dropped off, so if you are unsure, tell the driver, and he will stop at the right place and tell you to get off. they are very good about this - they recognize the difficulties of being a newbie.
the cons are that it takes a long time, and often the drop off is not too close to your hotel (unless you are right on beach rd.). i decided to give nova platinum a shot this time, and never having been there, and given its slightly odd location, i opted for the motorbike taxi. obviously, if you have a ton of luggage, this is not the option for you. i had a small duffle with a change of clothes, some toiletries and a boat load of condoms (one can hope, no?), so it was no problem.
i got dropped off, got a room in a jiffy, and up i went. the rooms at this hotel are ok, not particulary special. i would say the lobby and pool are something like 3.5 to 4 star, but the rooms are closer to 2 star. the room i got (which they made a big deal about being a deluxe room) was anything but. it was old and tired, with worn out counter tops, old worn out furniture, and old, worn out decor. but fuck, i am not here for the interior decorating. the walk-in rate is 2200 baht per night (high season), but 1800 discounted from an internet reservation, which i think is probably worth it. in august i stayed here for 1300 baht, but they made clear that is the off-season rate, reservation rate.
shower, shave, and out i go at around 7pm. the walk to walking street is around 10 minutes through the back roads (soi 16). one could take the baht bus from just outside the hotel, and it would drop you 100m from the beginning of walking street, but i opted for the walk. it was the strangest walk ever, too. as i walked down soi 16, i noticed this was an area heavily populated by arabs (and, i guess muslims in general). all the signs were in arabic, there was halal food being advertyised everywhere, and no more than 20m down the street, i could see signs like 'eat my pussy agogo" and "butt fuck while standing bj bar". ok, i embellish on the names, but you get the idea. why is this weird? well, as i walked down the street, surrounded by scantily clad women walking to their gogo/bar jobs and men wearing arab garb, i heard the muslim call to prayers from just behind a metal fence. it baffles me to see super religious people in this supposedly immoral location.
