Here is a summary of my general impression of our favourite activity in CTG. Bear in mind that this was my first trip to Colombia, so bear that in mind when reading.

To start with the COP was very strong when I was there, 1790 pesos for a dollar (or even lower on some days). So at first CTG seemed quite expensive. But if you work with say 2500 (only a 1.5 year ago, then it's not so bad. So if COP loose value again, prices will be in line with DR and Thai really, and much cheaper than Brazil. I think Argentina/DR peso is quite low now, though I'm not sure about their inflation. Thai Baht is also staying strangely strong.

Chicas operate in a few main locations/styles in CTG. We have freelancers in LDV, and some at the beach - the beach girls mainly operate under Tony and his guards, so you either pay them directly or the girls pay them out of their own take (that is if you pick them off the beach yourself without Tony's intervention - I think they get permission to hang out !). Of course there are some real free agents that I picked up, they were mainly new comers and perhaps later will go/operator under Tony and his clans...

The whole scene is very subdued at the beach and street, under watchful eyes of loads of police who do not interfere as far as I could see. By the way they provide excellent security, very safe in BG, Laguito and old town (centro). Beyond that I can't comment (I heard mixed stories and never went to there).

The final operators work in casas/bars and need you to pay salida (multa) to get them out. This is like Isis (in centro behind Tu Candela) and Chica Linda and Casique (sp?), Aquarious (sp?) further beyond in El Bosque area. We picked up a few girls from the beach that worked in the above at night and gave me all the lowdown on what is like there - we went to Isis but didn't like it, expensive and same girls you can find in LDV (though a little striptease they had is not bad but we just got to the end of it and they are far and few in between). 12k beer, no entrerance. LDV has 10k beer no enterance. Tu candela has 10k enterance that you can exchange for a bear or deduct from bottle cost. (Tu Candela occasionally has freelancers but they are normally not allowed to go in - so go check it out but have plan B).

Generally I liked the beach and freelancer scene so that's where we hanged most of the time. My info is quite limited on the casas/bars with salida, only hearsay.

Colombian girls, even pros, are very passive. They never come to you. Even LDV only has a few braves that come to you without you initiating a smile or a nod. So you can't be shy there. On the beach or street they just look and if you are lucky a smile or say "massaje ?" and walk away. You have to go to them and talk (or else ask the boys on the beach). Fortunately for me I speak some Spanish and have no shame what-so-ever !!! I even go right up to the normal girls and say hello if I get a signal. So I was picking them like cherries off the tree. Tony and his crowd were so impressed they didn't even once offered us chicas !?!?

I also love dancing salsa and all the latin music. So went to Cafe Havana a few times and found a couple of freelancers from there - again you can't be shy and it helps if you can move with the music a bit. It's only open Thr, Fri, Sat and it's 7000p entery and 7000p beer. It gets really packed so only go there if you like live salsa music.

LDV was fun, I just bought drinks for the girls and dance with them and get their phone number. Then call them during the afternoon or evening for better price/performance. At night these girls are different kind of animals. Pretty hard pros - though there are a few gems you need to look more to find. A bit better during the day and before the real wolf come out !? By the way all of the go to Electra later till 5/6am - we never went there. That's why if you even pull them at 3am, they finish you in 30min or 1 hour and off to Electra for more !

Also LDV has the biggest concentration of silicon - in fact a lot of the girls in the street and affluent Colombian tourists all had fake tits (even asses I think !). A real silicon valley. Though I think CTG (specially WG and affluent tourists are not a good representative of the masses in the country). I don't particularly like it but despite my best effort twice I only found out in bed that I struck fake....!?

For street action go straight to Plaza de Reloj at night (after 10/11pm), right in front of Tu Candela and El Fidel. You can sit at El Fidel tables outside and the local beer at El Fidel is 3000p all night. Quite reasonable if you ask me. Most of the SW are to be avoided. But you occasionally get some new comers who hang around there. They are just visiting from other cities for a week or two to make money. I met a few of them on the beach and later at night in the plaza. The better looking ones later got a job in the casa (they told me), others just hang around the beach and plaza.

Also there are girls walking around in Laguito around 6/7pm that smile and say "massaje", you can stop and chat with them. These are lower standard of course, a bit cheaper but unfortunately you still get a rush job. Because they have they rounds to do !? They go from apartment to apartment ringing places they visited (I used to watch this from our balcony). They started ringing ours after we did a couple - nice if you need a snack !

I think for LDV you need to have certain standards and/or know people, these girls (SW and what I call visiting, new comers) would not appear there at night. They are actually a good deal, cheap and stay longer ( not SW but visiting/new comers even stay TLN).

CTG is a weekend town, bear this in mind when planning a trip, very quite and some places dead or close during the week (many Colombian tourist come at weekends only). On Wed night I went to at least 4/5 clubs and ended up back at LDV because there were so quite. Even LDV had lower attendance (though it was Oct, low season).

Now the prices. At LDV they start with 400k or 300k, quickly down to 200k. If you haggle they do you for 150k at night, but that would be a rush job - 30min max, very mechanical but they do all the standard stuff (BBBJ is not very common, one refused it no matter what I said - I am very good at negotiating and persuading, but not this one ... !?)

Some LDV chicas will do you for 100k during the afternoon/evening and stay a bit longer and more relax, but some insist on 150k. Of course I haggled them down to even 80k (+taxi) but I could clearly see they weren't happy, it was the quite time in Oct, so were still accepting...

Of course beach and street chicas go for less (note, not the LDV or Tony's girls on the beach, but the other ones, under visitng/new comers I mentioned). I got these for 75k plus 5k or 10k taxi. Even did a couple for 60k from street. Though I'm a compulsive haggler and I don't recommend it to others. Sometime I think I go over the top and that affects the service, who knows, you could pay more but still get the same service...

Anyway, at the end I found a real stunner of 21 which gave me excellent GFE, so I took her out dining and dancing and fun all night for the last 4 days of my stay. What luck !?

The quality of the chicas here is very high, you will be well surprised, but they are mostly very hardcore/mechanical. For finding the gems you need Spanish and skill and of course luck. If the flight from UK wasn't 19 hours !? I would visit CTG regularly, but for now I can fly direct to DR and Thai, so I'm off there for my next two trips...

If I can answer any questions to do with chicas and/or normal touristy stuff in CTG, just ask - though they are a lot more Colombia & CTG expert here that can help.

The Cartagena lists tab is very helpful as I was looking for the location of the Elektra Club as I think my apt. is close by.

Elektra Club is on Calle 35 #7-28, Calle de la Tablada, San Diego barrio. I am staying at a place on Calle de la Tablada so it is obviously near. Should be easy pickings given my location...

I am arriving on Thursday evening in CTG and will spend the weekend. After that, I will be traveling around Colombia a bit. Perhaps, Viila de Ley, San Gil, Barichara, and Bucaramanga. Anyone been to these places? It is my 2nd trip to COL as I visited this past September. I went to MDE in Sept. but would be bored to go back again this soon.

Also, I was thinking it might be fun to go to the beauty pageant in CTG this weekend. On the other hand it might be too expensive or difficult to get tickets at this late juncture. Anyone ever gone to this or know where it is held?

Excellent report, and very informative; thanks for sharing. I concur about the newcomers/visitors...they can make for some really enjoyable, non-rushed, GFE. I find them to be best fit for my preferences.

This was a good report. Only thing I disagree with is the comment about bbbj not common. I have been there many times, and have maybe had one girl in many try to use a condom for bj and once I told her nicely to be on her way, she went for it. Other then that I enjoyed your report. Come to think of it I should give more details about BJ. In fact I only had that one girl refusing BBBJ, what happened was that my buddy reported more refusal (he was bitching about it so much it suck in my mind - you can't blame him, for him, and me, CBJ is useless).

I saw several doing videos around Centro. You can't miss them.

LDV was very crowded at earlier then normal hours. I walked in at 10: 30 on Monday and there were already about a dozen women there. In the past that doesn't happen until almost midnight.

I don't know what happened about my report regarding the location of Elektra but it appears that the report was shortlived on the board. I went to ELEKTRA last night and once again, it is located on Calle de la Tablon; not Calle de la Tablada as a list from this board indicates. I know this for certain because I am staying on Calle de la Tablada and the remaining part of the address would have put the locations within two steps of the front entrance of my apartment. A few other things about the club. It actually (at least this weekend) opens at 2am and closes at 6am; not 1am. There also was no cover, though a Cuba Libre set me back $15 COP or about $8USD.

It's also much nicer inside than I expected. From the outer entry, it appears to be a complete dump but the inside is setup decently and though its not quite Tu Candela, it has a decent ambience.

Some of the girls are quite attractive, a few real stunners though many of the great looking one's appeared to already have dates. In the mix though are plenty of gordita's and aggressive girls. One grabbed my crotch several times as did one or two others. It got worse as the evening (early morning progressed). You had to avoid eye contact (like TR in Lima) as much as possible or the fugly one's would be all over you. One wench came over several times and smelled of stale cigarettes and 18hrs without a shower. Imagine having to envision waking up to that?

I finally tried to attempt the option one of the board members recently suggested about going for a day session. I selected a very shapley early 30's blond in a tight white dress and asked for her phone number to meet at my apartment during the day. She was not too thrilled by this approach but eventually relented and gave me her#. She also wanted $300COP, which was probalby the opening price though not sure if that was for two hours the next day or if she was available at two o'clock in the afternoon. If I do decide to call, I will take into account how unfriendly (i.e. hardcore)she was after our conversation where she provided her number. All of a sudden, she could not be bothered to talk to me and killed any chemistry we might have had. So it is not very likely I will get together with her unless her price is cut in half.

I finally stumbled out near closing time empty handed but I was not feeling all that great so will save my powder for another night. In general, the girls do appear pretty hard core and if the price the one girl asked is the norm, then over rated. When it gets to the point where I can go to Las Vegas instead...

Elektra's a funny place. My guess it that it's 60% LDV girls there who still haven't hooked-up for the night, the rest are from the other CTG clubs. However, as well as these, I've also noticed some several druggies there who are properly hardcore. I made the mistake once of hooking up with a girl I'd never seen before. We went back to my apartment in Laguito. She was in the bathroom for about 15 minutes. i asked what she was doing and she said 'I was having a shit' (you knew the Colombianas were sexy, right?). We did the deed and she left an hour later. The next morning I discovered blood on my pillow case, then I looked in the bathroom and rifled through the trash can to discover straws and lots of blood-stained tissues. There are lots of recreational drug users in CTG, hell I'm one of them. This girl was lot more than that.

On the other hand, I've also noticed that although some of the others can appear hardcore at first, it's often just a front. I've had many experiences where the first time seems very hardcore but quickly evolves into much more GFE. My impression is that girls there like to preserve face amongst their girlfriends.

I wanted to add a few more observations about ELEKTRA CLUB since I am planning on going again this evening or should I say this morning. Last night, I arrived at around 3am and it was almost empty. Virtually no chicas and a few random guys. Well, shortly after that it started to become more crowded, however, it was more of a sausage fest than anything else. Not good, as that disproportion is not going to help the pricing! These are quite different odds from LDV as my only time there a few months ago, it was all girls and hardly any guys. However, since I am staying a few blocks away, I don't have a lot of interest in taking a taxi to the LDV since most end up at ELEKTRA anyway.

As the morning progressed, the odds gradually changed with more women than men. Observing the antics of the girls was pretty humorous as I was sitting by the large mirror near the entryway and several came over to 'fix their hair', and shake their booty all the while attempting to make eye contact. I usually don't smoke but there is an outdoor cig room in the back and I think I will bring my cigars tonite as that seems a better room to assess the talent. It is quite well lit and any flaws are easily seen, including mine (lol). One girl who was flirting with me in the dark inside section of the club sneered at me when I beckoned to her in the smoking area. Hey, lighten up, remember chica I am paying you, not the other way around.

Also, today I took a cab to La Boquilla, a tiny beach hamlet about 7k from CTG, as my LP guide suggested it was a good place for lunch. Guys, do not bother. It had been raining, the place was deserted and muddy with an ugly beach. Then some guy grabbed the taxi by the side handle as we drove to the beach and tried to direct the taxi driver to one of the deserted bamboo shacks masquerading as a restaurant. He literally held on to the car and ran with it for about 200 yds with the taxi driver locking all the doors and yelling at the guy to get his slimy hands off his taxi...about as third world as can be....Hysterical to think about it now, but a bit disconcerting while it was going on.
