I would be very careful dealing with nasty, shady drugs addicts trying to make money off prostitutes.

They can set up the johns for robberies, beatings, extortion, kidnaps. These pimps are greedy, unprincipled monsters who cannot be trusted or dealt with as humans.

I visited Saigon a few years ago on a short trip. Didn't have a great time. Mostly because of getting scammed, the nightlife I checked out and me not getting laid.

While not good for a quick hook up with a normal girl, Vietnam is awesome for getting quality girlfriends.

Made the mistake of not researching them on my trip to Saigon. Waisted time and money on some way overpriced and empty clubs.

The biggest difference is the people characters. The Vietnamese in general are friendly but reserved. They do NOT like noisy, rowdy bar scene. If you see those, they are mainly to please the western expats, and those who aspire after western life (mostly young Vietnamese). They are frown upon by the communist party because it is considered a threat to their hold of power. If you just go gently and quietly about your hobby, most will leave you alone enjoying your time in VN. Some may even help you realize your earthly desire.

Go softly and carry a big wad of cash, you shall find what you seek.

Being loud or noisy, you will find unwanted attention from loving, caring, morally upright communist neighbors. Above all, remember that Vietnam is still communist, NOT a free country.

Bars in the backpacker district with girls, cost 1. 5 million -- all near where Bui Vien meets Do Quang Do street. Expensive and very mixed in quality, but if you look hard you might find a good one. Someone said more girls come late (midnight and after) but I haven't checked that late.
