As some have pointed out, skin color does matter but the color of your money and the thickness of the stack is what ultimately counts. The chinese tourist will be a threat soon because the cost of pussy in their home country is going to rise with the crack downs and growing economy.

Most Thais would have no idea where a farang comes from, even after they have spoken with them. As a white caucasian, I have difficulty distinguishing races, and certainly cannot do it by sight alone.

One of my buddy is from India, speak fluent british accent and a bit whiter is 90% times considered as european.

In Bali the Indos can pick accents miles away.

I have lived permanently in Asia for more than 20 years (in Philippines) and of course I can usually tell where a person comes from come from when they speak, and that includes the 5 major dialects in the Philippines, but I bet that you cannot pick a filipino's place of origin without hearing them speak unless it is an extreme indigenous group (like Isaan people in Thailand or Igorot people in central Luzon).

Confuse a Japanese with a Korean or vice versa and you will seriously offend either one. Can you distinguish between various South Asians by sight (Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi or even Sri Lankan?

When we visit Bangkok almost every Thai addresses my wife in Thai (she is filipina) and it amuses us. She must appear Thai to the locals. The same thing happens to the Japanese wife of a good friend of mine (British) when they are in Bkk. She is also mistaken for a Thai, and she creates enormous confusion because she speaks fluent Thai and is able to respond in Thai that she is Japanese.

You may have a particular skill in picking racial differences but the regular person-in-the-everyday-street obviously has a great deal of difficulty.

In Indonesia, I can usually tell you if a girl comes from Sumatra, Bandung, or Jogja just by looking at her.

However, there is a big difference between say Russian and British, or between Japanese and Chinese. They may look the same, but their mannerisms are different.

There are always some that throw you. To my eye Japanese, Koreans, and Chinese look quite different for the most part. Now, Indians, Pakistanis, etc. That is a different matter altogether. Would not have the same success rate.

While I hyped up Patpong on my Bangkok visits before it was just downright bad on 2 visits this past week. Pink Panther was very quiet but had one nice smiley girl so had fun with her for a while. King's Castle 1 continues to be the busiest gogo bar there but absolutely none of the girls I liked from prior visits were there. Younger Chinese girls do not provide the same level of service as previous generations.
