Itaewon yesterday was still in Operation
I hate to deliver the bad news (again, just like my previous Jang Han Pyung report), but YJG has also joined the crackdown list.
I think it happened recently, since someone below reported that it was open.
Well, I headed there yesterday (Friday night) to see what was happening.
NO SHOPS WERE OPEN. ABSOLUTELY NONE. NO LIGHTS WERE ON AT ALL. The back alleys were all dark too.
This is just an FYI for those of you who were planning to tread over there.
You can't imagine how I felt after having wasted away 3-4 hours of my life traveling there and back, all for nothing...I'm so angry.
Bad news, even if I have never been there.
To add some better news to all the bad ones: Yesterday I was on a typical Friday holiday night out in Itaewon (no mongering in mind, as in Itaewon I am using freebee source). But I also passed the hill and surrounding area, and to my surprise all girlie shops have been in full operation as usual. Not at all a sign of a crackdown. There are anyhow not more then probably 10-15 shops left in the whole area providing this business and the whole hill is already a mix with girlie bars and regular bars (mongers are not alone and crowds of none mongering people will see you if you intend to negotiate - but nobody and who cares?).
I even spotted some (3-4) nice looking girls (some I know from dialogue and an occasional drink, even if I only once was really active there) probably worth a closer look and which would have been at least to my liking. But don’t let them scam you as they tend to overprice.
40-60 kW for BBJ and 100 kW (never more then 150KW!!) for FS should be a reasonable going rate. Don’t let you talk into too much drinks before, better negotiate the deed directly or after one drink (20 kW).
US/ Korean Joint army forces have been screening the area as they usual do every day to identify potential ‘off limits’ and ‘21 drinking age’ army community violators. But business as usual, they don’t care about the girlie bars (as long as no one of them is in).
So guys, not sure how long this will last, so maybe one of the last chances you may take.
Situation can change today already. Watch out if you see any of the armed riot busses (called ‘chicken cage’ locally) in Itaewon tonight. If they would be around (usually they never be) then the crackdown would go on.
