I live about 15 minutes away and often include Mia ri in my evening/night walk. Recently I haven't seen much going on there. Out of the 50-75 or so shops (which were all open when I moved here over ten years ago), I have noticed activity in only one or two recently, though there may be more. You know, nowadays (unlike the past) they all keep their curtains and doors closed.

Also, only two or three pimp/ajummas hanging around, not the dozens I used to see there. But I have seen several south Asians guys walking around/waiting outside some of the shops, so who knows? At any rate, it is certainly not the honey hole it used to be.

Same is true for 588 (Chongyangni). It is also only about 20 minutes from my apartment so I walk/bike there a couple of times per week also. Two-three months ago it was hopping, but now it is down about 80-90%. A few couple of lookers there in the "A" row (but they don't service non Koreans) and the usual handful of old skanks behind the department store. They DO service foreigners for the most part if you are truly desperate.

Hopefully things will get back to normal after this most recent prostitution crackdown blows over.

Anybody have info on Dongducheon (last subway stop on line #1 north of Seoul-near the DMZ)? I know there is a large US army base there (Camp Carroll, I believe), so I assume there are lots of Filipinas and some Korean girls working there. Prices? Take out available? Glass front knock shops? Massage shops? In room massage available?

There's a huge crackdown in many places now and it’s affecting Donduchon too. The RLDs are basically closed, Massage and Barber shops are available but you will not find any young hot girls in these places. The last time I visited an Anma in Donduchon they had the door closed and only open it when they saw who we were (was with a Korean friend) but closed it after we entered. Most of the bars outside the military bases are now serviced by Filipinas. However, their MO has always been to get you to buy them drinks made of juice at $10. to $20.00 a pop hence the name juicy girls. You can negotiate to take these girls out after work but it will be expensive. Donduchon is not worth the trip just for mongering

Is there action still at the Cheonho RLD? This was recommended to me by Halcyon901.- I ended up going there four times this past summer. I went back to the US in late August, and since then I've been reading the posts here about the crackdowns with dismay. Is Cheonho RLD still around? I hope to go back when I return to Seoul next summer.

The US military base in Dongducheon is Camp Casey. It has a GI bar district near the main gate (across the street and over the railroad tracks) which has many Filipinas working there. They are forced by the bars to push for the juicy drinks, and try to get as many as they can from the guys going there. As Run Mann mentioned, you will probably have to buy a lot of drinks, and then pay a bar fine of $200 to $300 if you want to take a girl to the room with you. It could be more than that, since I haven't been there for a long time.

There is also Camp Hovey on the back side of Casey. I think the name of the ville outside it's gate is Tokarie (not sure). I never tried it, but I always heard that it was more wild than Dongducheon. However, this is also the area that Fox news did their scandalous "GI's supporting human trafficing" report on about 5 years ago. IMHO that is what caused the fall of a great mongering destination that was called Korea.

I live in Dongducheon, and it is true that the report severly crippled the mongering community. Several laws were inacted after the report and the outcries from the pentagon and several Washington Senators and lobbyists. To include the inactment of [url=http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908][CodeWord908][/url] being illegal in Korea.

Does anyone know of a link to the original report? I have been trying to find it to no avail.

Police raided the hill in Itaewon on Tuesday but were unable to find anything suspicious due to the numerous cctv's the bars have on the hill ! !

I forgot that they had changed their name to Venus Anma. However, it is located near the Nambu Bus Terminal subway stop (Line #3) but they are quite expensive at 200,000.00W per visit.

My colleague advised me that his good friend went for some fun at an anma over in busan recently, only to be called the next day by police since he used a credit card for the transaction. He was not fined but merely warned and told that his actions will be closely monitored.

Still, despite the numerous crackdowns, there are still a large number of venues that seem invulnerable to this, whether they are located in kangnam or kangbuk.

They are taking the signs off the main street that say "Massage" in any language, but keeping their signs on the side streets so that they are less noticable. This makes the places harder to find, but maybe they'll last longer.

Also, I know I've written this before, but it bears repeating: some full service places call themselves "namja hyugashil" (Gentlemen's Leisure Room) "sports massage", or "stress clinic", which is something to watch for. (The one in front of Yongsan Station, for example, calls itself a "glamour clinic", but it's the same full service as an anmajang, but for W100, 000. You just need to make a reservation.)
