Thanks. It´s always good to get another perspective. I posted for those who´d want to know about places where knives come out so they could make informed decisions regarding their safety. That moral obligation outweighed my inclination to avoid putting myself in the way of your anticipated, unsolicited advice.
With respect, you might consider that the self-appointed Dr. Phil/Ann Landers elements of this forum come off as presumptuous and often engage in mean-spirited one-upmanship thinly disguised as well-meaning counsel (but not so obvious as to get their posts deleted). As an adult I make decisions I (not you) can live with, and have no regrets about how I handled the situation. When a tubby kid pulls a knife on me, he´s the one who´s lucky he "didn´t get hurt."
May you reevaluate the potential uses of this forum. I registered to pass on info (a most if not the most valid use of a venue such as this), but have no taste for what goes on here, where a moderator has to screen every post for minimum standards of civility.
